Nix liked the rooftops. Always afforded a great view, and more usefully a great place to train without too much chance of random civilians turning up to complicate things. So, whenever anyone suggested getting together to train, that was always his first choice of place to suggest.

So that was the case today, and he was waiting for Arthur to come on by. (He always liked to turn up a bit early for these sorts of meetings.) As he stood there, he was looking up at the sky, and wondering if it was going to rain soon…sure seemed like it might. Hopefully it wouldn’t be too bad, though.

Even if it was, what was a little rain to a magical frog boy, anyway?

Nix grinned to the cat, and gave him a somewhat showy bow. “Hello, Arthur, nice to see you,” he declared. “Sorry about the climb, sometimes I forget that not everybody can just, ya know,” he swayed from side to side lightly, “hop, skip’n’a jump right up here. But hey, ‘least we know we won’t be bothered much, right?”

“I even made sure that this wasn’t the same place I usually go to,” he went on, “so that if you wanted to do the whole...” he put his hands up in the air, “turn human thing, there’d be no chance of attracting negaversers to the usual spots.” He gave the cat a thumbs up.

“Though, uh, I admit, I don’t really know much about guardian cats and fighting,” he added, lightly scratching under one of his ears.

Nix was visibly impressed by the transformation—he’d seen one humanoid form cat previously (Itsuki), but hadn’t seen the transformation. The little hop made him chuckle lightly, and he nodded.

“Hmm, yeah, that would make it a bit tougher to fight a negaverser, wouldn’t it?” He rubbed his chin. “Well, uh, just so I get an idea,” he shifted his pose, and stood with legs apart and held an open palm straight out toward Arthur. “Punch my hand! Super hard!” He declared, then decided to be a bit more specific. “Er, in the hand, please.”

Nix waited as the cat man considered his actions, and then...punch.

To say it was underwealming would not begin to cover it, but Nix smiled all the same. “Okay! So, that tells me a thing or two, yeah,” he nodded. “Let’s, uhm...start with some basics, yeah? Normally, I’d suggest people go take martial arts lessons of some sort—karate, tai kwon do, whatever—but, er, I don’t suppose that’s an option for you.” He shrugged.

“But that’s okay! I can help some,” Nix told him confidently, with an accompanying thumbs up. “I suppose the main idea for you, if you were fighting someone like me, would be to avoid us, but you’re so magical, I’m sure you’ll get stronger...Anyway, let’s start with some basic stances...”

This was gonna be an adventure, Nix was sure. Just...not necessarily the most exciting kind.

Nix considered this problem. “You know, I never have thought about how amazing hands are, but...they sort of are, aren’t they?” He held up a hand as he spoke, and flexed the fingers.

“Hmm, so, I definitely wanna teach you some karate,” he said thoughtfully, “but maybe we should start with something a little different.” His grin got very big then. “In fact, I have a completely different idea!”

He reached a hand to the side, and pulled out of nothing a little piece of electronics. Not his senshi phone, but... a Switch, complete with a blue and red controller on the side. “I’ve got a dance game on here we could play,” he explained. “I’ll bet you’ve never done that before! All you gotta do is mimic what people on the screen do...but first...”

He pulled out two additional things: A wire, and a small box with a lens on one side. After walking away from the edge, he put the little box on the ground, and plugged the switch into it with the wire, making its images appear on the wall of the building’s rooftop access. “There! Now we can see it properly...”

Nix grinned and nodded at the mention of TV and game consoles...although the mention of it being romantic made him blush a little. Still, he pressed onward.

“Er, well, this dancing is more of, uh...performance dancing, not romantic stuff. I do it sometimes, if I don’t feel like doing something different. Also, it has silly videos.” He grinned. “Though, uh, I do know how to do other kinds of dancing, if you wanted to learn,” he added after a moment. “Do you have someone you want to dance with?”

Nix raised his eyebrows slightly, and nodded seriously. “I see...that makes sense,” he told Arthur. “I don’t, uh, know all that much stuff for, you know, romantic things, but I can definitely help you!” He grinned and gave a thumbs up again.

“For now, though, let’s just do this. All you gotta do is move your arms and legs the way the person on the screen does,” he explained, handing over a controller. “Just hold onto this. It’ll be a bit hard at first, I’m sure, but just, uh, think about where your limbs are, I guess!”

“Then we can maybe find something to help melt hearts!”

Nix very carefully did not poke fun at Arthur’s reactions to the game, or his ability to do it—if he wanted advice, the tailed man would ask. It was a game, after all, it showed them what to do!

To the question, he gave a moment’s consideration before answering, “I dunno. I’ve never really, uh, thought about it too much,” he admitted. “I’m not against finding myself somebody, but I just...haven’t found one, ya know?” He shrugged, and missed a movement. Oops. “Besides, I, erm...am not even sure I like boys or girls better.”
