(( Library)) Free evenings were rare these days, and brown haired Alphonso found himself spending this fake free evening perusing the rare books section of the library archives. The young man was researching a topic in the quiet library for a mission when his eyes fell upon a leather book mixed in with the rest. It seemed ordinary and not much of a looker, but out of curiosity, Alphie plucked it off the oaken bookshelf and then flipped to the first few pages. Once upon a time, in a land far far away…. Interesting. Perhaps, this was a fairy tale which there were only a few original copies of. What an odd name. Alphie could barely make out the slightly sparkling lettering emblazoned on the worn cover. The name of this book was “Through the Booking Glass”, or so it appeared. There seemed to be other smudged text on the cover, but it was indecipherable. Maybe he would have to search this book on the internet to see. He knew of Lewis Carrol’s “Through the Looking Glass”, and if he went with the meaning of “booking”, he’d probably be able to joke that this book could be some fairy tale about catching criminals with a mirror or a prison with a mirror door. He shook his head at these random thoughts. For now though, Alphie settled himself on a cushioned chair in a reading alcove in the rare books section and then began to read the book. The story began with a stereotypical setting, a medieval environment with a royal family…. It was an easy read so far. Maybe he'd be able to finish it quickly. Interestingly enough, there were drawings scattered in the book as well. Actually, it was odd. One of the drawings had a person that looked like him. He stared at it for longer, and the image became crisper. He shook his head, wondering if he needed sleep. It was a book. He decided to pay it no attention as these were drawings. ... And then it happened. Just like that, without even a flash, Alphie suddenly poofed from existence from the library, the book he was holding floating in the air and softly flapping down to the table. The book closed itself as if it had just been laying there on the table waiting for another curious reader. ... a certain blonde haired young lady.

 Hey Sara, it’s been awhile…since I last wrote to you. How’s mom and dad? Are they like anything in the pictures Sister Rosanne showed us? Well, even if you did know, you probably couldn’t tell me. Hehe. I’m doing well. Second year of college isn’t so bad. Still haven’t figured out if I made friends or not. I’d like to think I’ve at least made one friend. Well, one human friend. I’ve befriended one of the neighborhood’s most talkative german shepherd and when I have an extra pizza, I share it with them from over the fence! I think it’s name is Charlie. It looks like a Charlie. I’ve been staying at an apartment. It’s pretty lonely, but Sister Rosanne and the others seem to understand that the clerical life isn’t for me, though I visit them when I can. There’s a succulent plant as my roommate, I’ve named her Cassandra. She really loves her space at the window! Anyhow, I have to head off to class. I promise I’ll try to be better at keeping track of when to write my next letter and hopefully, it won’t land on mid-terms. With much love… Calyne recited the words she had written on the once blank piece of paper that had been neatly folded into an envelope and both the letter and the envelope were covered in stickers. Perhaps this weekend she would head up to see her sister, if her English professor didn’t assign any more homework for the weekend. Everything was beginning to pile up from law, physics and now her English Lit extra credit course. Her phone vibrated against the wooden table while playing a catchy tune, making Calyne run and slid towards the table with her white socks on the wooden floor to reach for the phone. She needed to get going. But the blond haired girl was quick to put on her light jacket/sweater and her shoes whilst grabbing her bag. She looked over her shoulder, smiled and waved at the empty apartment. ”I’ll be back in time Cassandra,” she stated before closing the door on the silent apartment that gave no reply back to Calyne. It had been a rather typical day for Calyne, catching the bus to the college, taking her classes that weren’t that long to suffer through and ate a lunch she had packed herself from home. The lunch didn’t consist of much, except rice, veggies and breaded fish-sticks. Once that part of her day had been done, Calyne had made her way to library archives to search for a book to do her English Lit topic on. She went through many books before deciding on a few to grab from the shelves that had seemed promising and went to what would have appeared to be an empty table. She stared at the book that was laying on the table by itself. Placing her books down, Calyne looked around and made a small hum in wonder of who could have been so careless to leave a book and not return it back in it’s proper place. Or maybe they had gone to the bathroom. But not having seen anyone and not really interested in searching for another table, Calyne assumed that the table was free. ”Hmm, I wonder what you’re about,” Calyne spoke to herself, reaching for the book for a closer examination. There wasn’t much to really note about, except for it’s title that shared a similar name to the Alice in Wonderland sequel. ”Maybe you’re a spoof about travelling and planning your trip online,” the young blond lady pondered before opening the book. Upon reading ’Once upon a time…’ Calyne pulled her eyes away from the page and looked around the book for a summery, only to find that it didn’t. She returned to the page and began flipping through the other pages, noticing that there were sketches on some of them. One had depicted a royal family. A lad that was similar to her age and a couple of other characters before she stopped at a drawing of a lady. She didn’t know particularly why she had stopped at that page, but she did and stared down upon the page with her narrowed eyes. Then suddenly, the book came to life! She stared at the flapping pages that pulled her in with not much of a light and before she knew it, Calyne was falling down from the sky with her bag still on her shoulder. In shock and from being up so extremely high, Calyne let out a scream before coming to a float and was brought gently down to the soft grass by something. When she was on the ground, Calyne looked around, taking note of the many trees and how healthy the grass was. But more importantly, there was no library and no buildings. And no cars. She gripped the strap of her bag and pulled it close to her chest. Was she imagining all of this? Maybe. After her last year’s psychology class about perception vs. sensation, she wouldn’t be surprised if she had somewhat of a mental breakdown from all the midterm homework she had to get done. And that she needed a job. Yup. This had to be a breakdown of some sort. No, this isn’t some breakdown… Calyne told herself, biting her inner cheek a little and feeling sensation from that small bite. And the air had smelled far too clean and fresh and to be reproduced by modern chemicals for cleaning scents. But if she wasn’t hallucinating about all of this, where was…this? Taking a big gander and even a stupid idea, Calyne had to find out if she was the only person here. ”Hello~?” Calyne called out and stood there, unsure and nervous of what the results would be.

((Have fun bsing who Alphie landed on~)) Down and down Alphonso tumbled as if he were plummeting down a rabbit hole into Wonderland. He was confused. Had someone drugged him earlier? Was he dreaming or under the influence of something? Alphie had been careful with his food and interactions. Perhaps, the book was laced with some sort of drug, and he hadn’t realized it. Why would something like that be in the library then? These were all theories though. As was instinct, the young man attempted to right himself and modify his posture so he would be able to see the ground, whenever it appeared, and land safely. It seemed fate had other plans though. Instead of being able to see anything, Alphie was suddenly hit by sunlight and then an immediate impact with something warm not completely hard. Alphie had landed on a person, who apparently had been holding a sword and was facing another person. ”Uh…sorry…” Alphie quickly got up, trying to orient himself and adjust his eyes to the now bright environment compared to the library and wherever he had been falling through. Just like Calyne, he had landed in a grassy area with trees scattered about. The trees weren't so dense that he would call the area a forest, and he could spot what appeared to be a wooden cottage in the distance. This wasn't a city... since those sorts of architecture weren't common in cities. Why the sword? Were these people LARPing? Someone would probably ask where Alphie came from, and he honestly wouldn't even know the proper answer on how he had arrived. --- As Calyne looked around, she would hear a rattling sound. Eventually, she would perhaps spot the source as a small birdcage rolling around on its side on the lush grass and the faint sounds of someone crying out. Inside the cage would be a tiny shoe elf fairy size brown haired girl trying to run the bars of the cage like a hamster in on a treadmill. ”That jerk! HMPH! Someone, help! You, human with the blonde hair, help me please?!” There would be tiny wings clear butterfly wings sprouting from the girl’s back. The very same cottage that Alphie had spotted would also be visible in the distance, but from a different direction.

 Skyler had been staring at his opponent for some time and then – BAM! Something, or rather, someone had fallen from the sky. He had barely just been able to catch himself from the sudden impact as his hand still tightly held his sword. ”Ow…” Skyler groaned as the stranger that had fallen from the sky had climbed off of him. Skyler then quickly got onto his own feet, ignoring the stranger’s apology for a moment as he patted away the dirt and grass from his clothing, thankful that none of it got in his mouth. When he was done, Skyler looked over to over to the stranger and raised a brow as he looked at the…interesting style the stranger wore. But what was more interesting was how the stranger was looking around. Had he been teleported from another kingdom by magic? Or was it a spell gone wrong? ”Those are some…interesting clothing…Where’d you get them from?” Skyler asked, looking over towards his opponent as to keep an eye on him while trying to solve a mystery of where the stranger had come from. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking around every so peacefully for a moment, Calyne had taken note of a cottage within walking distance. Perhaps there was someone living in that cottage that could answer some of her questions, like ‘where is here?’ or…anything else similar to. She had taken a couple of steps towards the cottage before she heard something rolling towards her. Looking over to it, she saw a bird cage, but more interestingly, it was speaking and asking for help from her. ”O-of course!” Calyne exclaimed as she ran over to the cage and picked it up right off the ground. She looked through the bars and saw a little in size, but age wise, Calyne didn’t want to guess, but they seemed young. Aside from their petite stature, the maybe fairy(?) had brown hair and green eyes with wings that looked as if she had borrowed them from a butterfly. But why was she in this cage? Who had put her in there? ”There, that’s a little less tumbling and rolling uhmmm…” Calyne stopped as she tried to figure out how to address the petite humanoid-looking-person-with-butterfly-wings-thing. ”Why are you in a cage and rolling like you were…?” It was a little abrupt, but Calyne couldn’t really form the words to express her curiosity as she raised a brow.

Skyler’s opponent, a man named Salty Fries McDonald whose father thought he was destined for greatness, had persisted in the staring match with Skyler since Skyler had now broken eye contact thanks to this stranger. Salty had won. The man had been waiting for Skyler to make the first move, and it had resulted in his victory. However, Skyler’s observation of the newcomer’s new clothes had also piqued Salty’s interest. ”What tactic is this?” he asked of Skyler, although it was clear that no one had any idea what had happened. To Salty, this person in strange clothes had simply appeared from the sky, and neither him nor Skyler had been looking up.
Alphie had also collected himself by now as he looked curiously at Skyler and Salty. When Skyler asked about interesting clothes, the young man looked at himself and then back up at the others. Interesting clothing? Alphie was wearing jeans with a brown leather jacket and a shirt. The opponent of the man he had fallen on was wearing a fancy sash and robes out of a different era. The man he had fallen on also donned different era clothes. ”From Old Navy. You’d be surprised at what they sell sometimes. They had a sale the other day,” he answered with a grin, trying to make conversation. ”I appreciate you staying in character. Are you two rehearsing for a play?” he replied, still going off the idea that this was perhaps just people live action roleplaying or practicing for a play. Alphie then held his hands up apologetically. ”Where are we, by the way?” he asked. ”I was reading a book and the next thing I know, I’m here. Sorry again.” At this point, Alphie really didn’t care if he came across as a clueless idiot because he was confused. He needed to learn more about the situation. He couldn’t recognize any landmarks to identify where he was at the moment, and the sun was bright in the sky, making navigating using the stars impossible. All he knew was that it had been evening at the library, and now it was day time wherever he was.
Perhaps, he would have to check out that wooden cottage later, but two sources of information were right in front of him. Maybe the cottage was where they lived or worked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fairy beamed as Calyne let her out. ”Thank you!” the fairy gushed. She pouted as she tried to kick the cage away after flying out. Due to her size and physical strength in that form, the birdcage just barely moved before settling back and then almost rolling backwards. ”Eep!” the fairy cried before hiding on Calyne’s shoulder. She pouted as she sat on Calyne’s shoulder. ”Some meanie locked me up and wanted me to sing him songs all day. Used a cage that had iron somewhere inside of the bars with iron and prevented me from working my magic to run away. Hmph.” The fairy, then deciding that she was being rude, flew in front of Calyne. ”Pardon my manners! Thank you, young lady! I am Selis, a fairy bard~” she explained. ”What name does my savior go by?” With eye an at Calyne’s clothes, Selis hazarded another question. ”What realm do you hail from? I am unfamiliar with this style of clothes in Evermore.” Evermore was the kingdom they were in right now.
Selis was really related to some sort of potential royalty, but she wasn’t about to say that out loud. Her husband was a Tengu, and she knew he would have come to find her as soon as he found out she was missing. However, fortune had smiled upon her when her cage had rolled off unnoticed from the back of the wagon that her captor had been traveling upon. This human had come to her rescue.
 Skyler looked at Salty and did a mix of shaking his head and rolling his eyes. Great, he had lost a staring contest – not that it’d matter much. So long as Skyler had his head on his shoulders, he wasn’t particularly worried, persay. ”There’s no tactic to this! I am not so flakey that I’d require assistance for a summoning,” Skyler’s voice didn’t hide the irritation he felt for his opponent who had been a spoiled one with their father believing great things from them or some grand destiny. His attention turned back to the stranger and raised a confused brow and looked at Salty then back at the stranger. ”Old Navy?” he asked with much confusion. ”The only ‘Old Navy’ I know is the King’s previous naval fleet,” Skyler explained, wondering if perhaps those old sailors went into some business with making clothes. He couldn’t picture it. Maybe if some of them were drunk enough, then maybe. ”Pfft! Hahaha!” Skyler bursted out laughing when the stranger had told them that they were doing really good for staying in character. ”I may have a sexy body and the looks to be famous but…” Skyler began to say when his fits of laughter stop and went to place a hand on the stranger’s shoulder as one would do with a friend, with plenty of time for the stranger to back away if he must. However, Skyler couldn’t help but give a wink when he had stated that he had a sexy body. ”I am not that kind of an actor. But there are plenty all around Evermore!” the tall, smexy Skyler stated before pausing at the thought of the stranger reading a book. ”Mmm…where do you hail from stranger?” Skyler asked, unsure if the book might have been a magical book of some sort. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ”Careful when you kick things!” Calyne expressed, smiling in relief when the tiny person was on her shoulders and safe. She listened to the…fairy’s tale of how she had gotten in the cage. It sounded something straight out of a children’s book or some 80’s animated cartoon that wasn’t related to Disney. ”That sounds like a mean person,” Calyne stated, taking a mental note that iron had an affect on the rescuee. Calyne made a small jump when the fairy flew in front of her and could see her face to face. ”Nice to meet you Selis, I’m Calyne a-and there’s really no need to thank me,” Calyne waved her hands, blushing a little as her chest held itself tight as if she were bashful of doing a kind deed that she thought any good person would do. Well, what a person should do if they saw someone that needed help and wasn’t going into the person’s needs. There were times Calyne had to wave off homeless beggers because she didn’t carry change and didn’t have enough to spare, unless she wanted to starve or not pay the next fee for the month. ”Realm? Hail? Evermore?” Calyne asked, mostly to herself. ”Was the book laced with something? Did I get hit on the back of my head…?” Calyne asked to herself in low mutters before looking back up at Selis and blushed at how embarrassingly rude she accidently was. ”Ah, sorry about that. This is a casual style in Greenville. Got them over at a Value Village and another thrift shop, so I guess they’d be technically out of style even where I ‘hail’ from,” Calyne explained, taking another mental note that the fairy looked as if she was wearing something that could be worth a lot of money. But these days with costumes, everything looked rather nice and semi-affordable…if you didn’t want to eat for a week. Wait, was the fairy a drone? Calyne tilted her head to get another angle before determining that yup, the fairy looked very, very real. ”Uhmm…where is Evermore exactly? Like, what continent?” Calyne asked, wondering where she was or even acknowledge that she may have gone somewhere…not Greenville.
Salty was perfectly fine with Skyler thinking he was stupid, but Salty had plans to upstart Skyler. Salty actually apparently did not think Skyler would be a match for his plans, whatever they were. The man scoffed upon hearing Skyler’s remarks.
Alphie looked at Skyler in confusion. Was Old Navy not a thing around here? So much for acting. The one named Skyler had indicated that he was not an actor, and Alphie noted that Skyler was proud of his own body. The assassin did not comment on that. Alphie raised an eyebrow. ”What kind of actor are you then? Hmm… Old Navy is a clothing store…I’m not aware of it being the naval fleet…” he commented.
Hail? Who said hail nowadays? That sounded like old plays written back then. Maybe he was dreaming of random tall tales of the past. Alphie shook his head. ”I.. hail from Greenville, although it’s… not as green in scenery as it is here. ” Nothing made sense.
For no apparent reason, he asked, ”What year is it?”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Selis tilted her head when Calyne responded, unfamiliar with these terms. But a light bulb had lit. Her eyes opened wide. ”A thrift shop at Value Village in Greenville? THE lost country of Greenville?!!!” She fluttered about, observing Calyne and looking again at her attire. ”It’s such an old story we thought it was just a myth…about how a long time ago, the country of Greenville was split off from the rest of the world. “ Selis looked thoughtful for a moment. ”I’m not sure why though…there were so many different versions of the story….some said to seal an evil, punish Greenville, bad luck… hm….”
It seemed that Calyne seemed just as clueless as Selis about Evermore, so maybe she really was from Greenville, the lost country.
”Continent?” Selis questioned. ”We are currently in the kingdom of Evermore on the Avaria. She smiled. ”Let’s find you some clothes. It would be best not to stand out right now. The kingdom is potentially on the brink of war with a neighboring country.” Selis was holding back her excitement. She didn’t want to bombard Clayne with questions on Greenville’s environment and so on. If it was the same Greenville in the stories of the past, then fashion there was so strange.
 Calyne took a step back, surprised as Selis began fluttering about and possibly afraid that she was going to fly into her face. “Erm, a thrift shop and at Value Village…”Calyne quietly corrected, giving a bit of a concerned and confused look. “Lost country…?” Calyne asked, raising a brow and her mind went to Atlantis and Eldorado (the mighty city). Oh great, now she had a song stuck in her head. Calyne pondered for a moment, as though she was taking Selis’ explanation seriously. “Mmm, by evil, you mean student loans? Besides…a book…? I’m not sure there’s anything really magical about Greenville. It’s just like any other city that I’ve visited --- not that I visited many,” she explained before Selis added that they were in the Kingdom of Evermore and on the Avaria...whatever Avaria meant. She would assume that it was what the landmass itself was called. Close enough to continent. “Wait – what- WAR?!” Calyne exclaimed in utter disbelief. “War with what country?! Wait, are you from Evermore or from a different Kingdom?!” Calyne bombarded the poor fairy with questions. “Wait, where would we find clothes?” Calyne asked her final question before looking around herself, half expecting a Cinderella moment to happen where her clothes magically changed. But nothing had happened. She gave a small frown. The book couldn’t have bothered itself to make her not stand out so much. And if there was a market nearby, she wouldn’t have any money to buy clothes to begin with… “Guess the book couldn’t be bothered to give me clothes,” Calyne muttered. “Let’s see, clothes…clothes…”“Mmm…” the blond college student looked around. She wasn’t skilled in making clothes from trees and leaves. AHA! Her mind exclaimed as she spotted the cabin in a different light than just something in the background. “There’s a cabin over there, Selis! Maybe they’ll have clothes there! Unless…you were kidnapped and brought there…”Calyne stated and then felt a little unsure. After all, it was a cabin out in the middle of nowhere. Even where she had come from, that was a little suspicious. And if Selis had come from that cabin, she didn’t want to bring the fairy over there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “You’re not going to introduce yourself, Salty? No-Fries? No?” Skyler asked with a chuckle before giving a shrug then returned his attention back to The Stranger aka Alphie. He only smiled at The Stranger when he had asked what kind of actor Skyler was. But as soon as he heard that Old Navy was a ‘clothing store’ the man’s eyes narrowed, then widened when he had heard that The Stranger hailed from Greenville. Like an excited puppy, Skyler went up to Alphie, almost clasping his hand around his. “Wait – THE GREENVILLE!? Like the mythical lost country?! The one that had been banished from the lands to be punished because of a curse? Or to seal some evil?!” Skyler went one as if he was a fan that had met their favourite actor. But it certainly explained the weird clothing. And judging by the new and oddy refined material, perhaps this man was of some royalty in Greenville. “Oh, forgive me! Where did my manners go!” Skyler exclaimed, moving back from The Stranger and immediately went on one knee and bowed. “I am Lord Skyler Von Bielefield. Prince of the Magenta Isles and Summoner of Dragons,” he introduced himself before looking to Salty as he stood up. “This is Prince Salty Fries McDonald,” he added, smiling at The Stranger before suddenly realizing of the impending possible war about to happen. “We should probably get you more local clothes and more peasanty. Who knows who’ll come after you when you’re dressed as a royally as you are, Your Highness of Greenville, or Lord or… You can explain to me later who you are. I think there might be something in the cabin,” Skyler stated. “Come with me and I’ll see what we can find in there,” he added and began leading to the way towards the cabin. “So, what’s your name? What’s Greenville like?”
