The more he looked into this captain's file the more impressed he felt. Reinerite had been in service for sometime, but length of service didn't mean as much as some people liked to play up. Still, as he reviewed things he came to the conclusion that everything about her was promising.
Her victory in the tournament the year prior was impressive and she had some language assets that could prove useful.
There weren't as many multilingual people that he'd been able to convince to join them as he would have liked.
His request was formal, professional, and to the point when he called for the Captain to come meet him in an office in the castle. When she arrived, she would find the door open with the general sitting behind a desk, going over paperwork with the tablet resting on the desk.

Labyrinthite was not a General that Reinerite was personally familiar with, but that didn't stop her from answering the summons.
After all when a General called, an answer was expected - and because punctuality was something that was important to her - that answer was something that needed to be given in the form of her person as soon as possible–
Which was how she had come to be making her way towards the requested office in the castle instead of out working on her quota for the evening.
It wasn't long, the office door already open and a figure - almost certainly the General in question (well at least almost certainly to Reinerite that was) - sitting behind a desk.
She gave the door a polite rap, before stepping inwards.
"General Labyrinthite?" And whilst her voice was cool, the tone and the nod that she gave the seated figure was both polite and respectful "I've come in answer to your summons."
She fell silent after that, waiting for the other to speak, a part of her curious about why the other had summoned her.

While it wasn't a true smile, the edges of his mouth curled upward in something halfway between one and a slight smirk.
"Captain," he greeted, a sweeping gesture of his hand towards the chairs across for him. "Please sit."
Everything in her file lent to the notion that she followed orders and requests willingly and easily. That meant that he didn't have to see how far to push to see how she would bend.
"Thank you for coming," Labyrinthite said, adjusting the papers in front of him and closing the file on the tablet before returning it to pen form and setting it aside.
"I've been reviewing your file, you came in first in the captain bracket of the tournament last year?" He asked, wanting to see how she would respond.

Reinerite nodded at the requested, shoes tapping quietly against the ground as she walked over towards the indicated chairs and sat down on the one that was closest to her, absently crossing one leg over the other.
The question about the previous year's tournament was unexpected, but there was no reason not to answer, Reinerite nodding again as she said quietly "I did."
For a brief moment she debated over whether to leave it at that, not sure what information the General was looking for, before expanding "The tournament was organised by my General - General Aurostibite - but I would have entered even if he had not been the one to organise it, because I wanted to test my skills" she hesitated for a moment before adding "And make up for my performance in the first tourney."
Because whilst in the first tourney that she had entered as a Lieutenant, she had made her opponent work for their win, she had never forgotten the sting of being knocked out in the first round.

He hummed and it sounded like approval but it was hard to say when the rest of him remained so stony.
"Your organizational skills seem impressive," he commented, flicking across the screen to go through her digital files. "An ability to reassess your skills and demonstrate learning is an admirable one." If Reinerite was as smart as her file lended to, she would be able to see that a lot of this seemed like an interview without explicit questions.
"What are your thoughts about traveling for your duties?" He asked, gaze flicking up to him now, his head slightly tilted to gauge her reactions.
"Or serving missions under the commands of differing Generals?"

The inscrutable expression made it impossible to tell what was running through the General's mind as the other hummed at her response and Reinerite wasn't about to start making assumptions either.
But it did strike her that this little meeting felt very much like a job interview of sorts, especially with the questions about travelling and serving under the commands of other Generals.
"I have no issues with either of those things" she said truthfully. "While General Aurostibite is the General who bought me into the Negaverse, I have worked under the command of other Generals and they will get the same effort from me that I would give for him." She would expect no less from herself and Aurostibite would certainly expect no less from her.
"Travelling is also not a problem - I would go where I am needed" simple words, truthful words. "Although I would appreciate it if it would be possible to put things in order should the travelling required be lengthy."
Amongst other things, her file would mention that she was not a native of the States, even though she had taken steps to settle there.

Every answer from the captain was exactly what Labyrinthite was wanting, expecting really. There was nothing in her file that indicated he needed to be concerned that she would not be an excellent choice.
Nails rapped against the desk before he shifted, hands lacing together and coming to rest on the wood before him.
"There's an operation overseas that's been compromised, I'd like you to accompany myself and the team that I am bringing to handle things." His thumbs pressed together while his back stayed straight.
"The intention is to leave in a week," he told her. A week wasn't much time to get affairs in order, but he thought her capable.

While a week wasn't exactly a great deal of time in which to get things in order and prepare for a trip overseas, Reinerite wasn't particularly troubled - the odd trip between the States and the UK meant that her passport was kept current and packing wouldn't take long–
And whilst setting up her absence would take a bit of time, Reinerite fully intended to have everything covered and sorted out in a couple of days and no more than 3 tops.
"Thank you" she said simply. "I will make sure that I am ready."
It was exciting to think that her efforts had been noticed, enough so that she was being considered for a mission like this - one that sounded big, although Reinerite kept her expression calm.
"Will there be any particular mission specifics that I need to look over in advance of departure?"
Because if there were then Reinerite intended to make sure that she had looked over them.

And just like that, it was settled. Reinerite had accepted, as expected.
"Good," he replied, snapping the tablet pen shut and slipping it into the inner pocket of his coat. There was a pause as he considered her question. "At this time, no, but if that changes, I will inform you."
Confidentiality was important for the mission, if too many people knew about the attack, then they'd view Metallia's iron grip as weak.
He didn't care to give the turncoats more fuel if it came up to leave.
"More details will be provided at a later date." He waved his hand. "You are dismissed."

"Understood" Reinerite said, waiting until the other had dismissed her before standing and, after a respectful nod, turning and walking towards the door.
It was clear that the General had no further questions for her - and that there was to be no further information at this point in time - and so she may as well make a start on putting her things in order given that she now had a fair amount to do–
And a not so great amount of time in which to get it done.
She made a mental list of what to start on first as she walked, from covering rent, to the cover stories that she would need to come up with to explain a sudden trip out of town - but she had been serious when she said that she would be ready and ready she would be–
And she would show General Labyrinthite, that his decision in choosing her for this mission was not misplaced.Nuxaz Thank you Nux <3 Fin on my end too
