Nashira sighed as she sat among her speterfoxes. She always felt bad that they couldn't all sleep in her dorm at the same time, but there simply wasn't enough room. She leaned back, using her black specterfox, Argo, as a pillow. The fox didn't seem to mind. As she lay there, she could hear Sao's bell jingling as the pink specterfox came running back to her. When the pink fox reached Nashira, she dropped the stick she'd thrown for her. Nashira reached up to pet the fox's face. "You are all so smart and helpful." A thin smile pulled at the edges of her lips. "I wish I could understand you better." She knew there was magic that would let you almost talk to a familiar you were strongly bonded with. She rolled her head gently from one side to the other. Around her, several of her specterfoxes were playing together or napping quietly. "I think I would like to study you more." She was talking to herself, but Argo lifted his head and stared at her. "I wonder if I could train you?" She looked at the stick Sao had brought back to her. "Could you do search and rescue? Or recovery work?" For the first time, she was starting to feel a little… excited. This was what she wanted to do with her life, she was sure. She loved specterfoxes, so why not train them, and do so in a way to give back to the community? "I guess I will be taking familiar studies at the Community College and see if I can learn how to train and communicate with you all." She sat up and threw the stick again, and Sao darted after it. It was decided. She knew what she would do.
