You are on the second floor.

You're not quite sure how you got here; maybe you got shuffled along with the crowd, maybe you came up here willingly, but regardless, you are here and you are now trapped.

You know who you are. You know you are a senshi, or a Negaverse agent, or a civilian. But you also know you are someone - something else.

Quote:

IN YOUR VERY FIRST POST PLEASE ROLL 1D6:

  • 1 - You are a trapeze artist. You remember distinctly the thrill of letting go of the bars, of knowing your partner will catch you as you fall. You remember the rush of air and the slap of your palms against your partner's and the weight of their body as you tumble through the air. And you can see the circus spread out in front of you, as vivid as a sunset. But you also remember who you are normally. The two different lives collide; you can see both waving in and out like a badly tuned television set; sometimes you can see the circus, and sometimes you can see the warehouse of the Celebration. The visions are confusing and tangled; you can't quite separate reality, because while you know your true identity, you would also swear that the other identity is real too.

  • 2 - You are a lion tamer. Unlike most circuses, you are kind to your animals. You treat them well. You know how to handle them, and they trust you. You have done this for years and years. It is familiar to you, the scent of their fur and the heat of their pelts and the roar of their kind.

  • 3 - You are a tightrope walker. You have trained for years for this and all of the callouses and the bruises on your feet just show that you have spent your life dedicated to this art. You thrill at the height and the adrenaline rush of being so high up, and you can see the wire stretched out in front of you.

  • 4 - You are a clown. You find joy in being ridiculous, in being an entertainer to the masses. You have the routine down to a T, so that you're always aware of your audience, and they adore you. You live for the applause, and you can hear it, see the excitement on their faces as you perform.

  • 5 - You are a knife thrower. You have trained for years for this as well, and you are very good at what you do. You can feel the pulse of adrenaline that stems from just missing something - or someone - by inches. In fact, you're ready to show your stuff right now. You can see your target board in front of you. Whatever is in your hand is your knife, and you are ready to throw.

  • 6 - You are a ringmaster. You are the star of the show, the leader of the pack. It is up to you to decide how things go; you direct everyone, you provide for everyone, and you perform for everyone. You would do anything for your troupe, and you can see how hard they have worked over the years. You have made dozens of connections, and you thrive on the limitless joy of being the center of attention at the front of the crowd that you can see all cheering you on.

Something is wrong.

You can sense this, even with the haze of confusion, the noise, the chaos. Your surroundings fluctuate along with your memories; it's hard to tell what's real and what is an illusion, but in the most lucid of moments, you can tell that this is an illusion, even if the memories feel very real - but there is something unstable about them, something not quite grounded. You know you need to figure out how to break free of these illusions, but you're not sure how.

There has to be something in the room that can help you.

Quote:

PLEASE ROLL 1D100 IN EVERY POST FOLLOWING THE FIRST:

  • 1-10 - You have found...something. Please quote kuropeco.

  • 11-20 - While you are trying to figure out what is happening, you have a memory of someone that you know, but not in your current life; it is a circus memory, but it feels very real, even if it's not.

  • 21-30 - You have a vision of yourself doing something not quite right in the circus. It fades in and out, but it is a slightly unpleasant memory.

  • 31-40 - You are reminded of something terrible that has happened in the circus while you were performing. It feels very real.

  • 41-50 - You see an illusion of something joyful that has happened to you in the circus.

  • 51-60- You stumble across someone with whom you have a connection with in the circus, but not in real life.

  • 61-70- You feel a strange sense of sadness for a memory that you would swear didn't happen to you in real life, but in the circus.

  • 71-80- You have a vision of a time in the circus that made you very angry at someone, but it's not someone you would normally be angry at in real life.

  • 81-90- A peaceful memory of a gentle time in the circus overtakes you. Your heart feels very comforted in the memory, but it's not real - or is it?

  • 91-100- You have found...something. Please quote kuropeco.

Quote:

OOC NOTES:

  • You are free to power up here. The illusions are distorting everything, and while you should definitely still not be obvious about it, you can still do so without too much issue. The fluctuating visions keep identities from being discovered easily.

  • Your character is essentially trapped between two lives - the real one and the illusion of their circus persona. They know who they are, but the circus lives feel so real and have a very real impact on them in spite of this. Everything is confusing and overwhelming.

  • You are free to make connections with other people for the memories, but make sure that you have OOC permission from people before you write something about their character.

  • Friendly fire is allowed! Fight, don't fight, whatever you want to do.

  • If you have any questions or concerns or would like something specific to your character, please let me know!

Beejoux
Jack cannot remember who she is. She is entirely immersed in her illusion and cannot seem to recall anything except of her current life at all. She is currently stuck in an illusion of the circus burning down around her. She wants to save her friends and family from a terrible fate.

Mason Roll

One minute, they were standing in a literal dancefloor and the next, his outfit was blue stars and makeup on his face. He brought his hand up to his face, pressing against it.

Where was Nora?

He was with Lia and Dimitri still....."Oh you stupid knive throwing b*****d...." He poked his sort of circus dad, the man had basically adopted him when he was brought in to be a clown. "Have you seen...."

The name disappeared and he looked around, "Don't we have to perform soon? Why's everyone standing around?"

Jacqueline Maaz

One moment there was a crash of breaking glass and the frightening sound of many people shouting angrily, and the next thing Jack new flames were licking up the canvas walls of the tent on all sides and what remained of the big top was swiftly filling with suffocating smoke. Jack had retreated deeper inside, back where there'd been actual walls erected and the fire spread slower, but now she was trapped there, terrified, breath labored as the smoke closed in around her.

I can't stay here!

If she didn't find a way out now she was going to die. The tent was going going to come down on top of her, on top of anyone else still trapped inside, and when it did that would be it.

Move! You need to move! Don't just sit there, go! Now!

She could feel her pulse in her throat, blood rushing so loudly through her ears it drowned out the crackling of the flame and the sound of shouting. She was so scared she could taste her fear like metal on her tongue and her hands were shaking where they clutched into the skirt of her costume.

But she got to her feet. Pushed past her panic and ran. Away from the rolling smoke and the glowing press of flames. She ran out of the temporary shelter of the back corner and out into the inferno.

Dimitri

It was funny how things could so easily transition from something known to unknown. To see Mason done up in make-up should have been wrong, but it also wasn't. Not anymore than approaching a half-man and a monster in the dead of night, spurred on by the prospect of something new and exciting. This was a bit of that, and he laughed at Mason's question. "You know they slack, " as if he didn't. He did what he wanted when he felt driven to do it. That wasn't so different from the Dimitri of now. Neither was his affection for Mason, for Lia - different but same different but same -

He knew something was off, wrong. The thing was, he just didn't care. "Eh? - What are you looking for?"

Lia

This room was incredibly swanky. How did they get here though? It felt really different than where they were before---

It hurt her brain thinking about it, and Mason was right! They had a show soon. Lia outright draped herself on Dimitri, arms hanging down over his shoulders as she rested her head against his. It was the familiar comfort that came from knowing the man since they were children and had, quite literally, ran off to join the circus together.

Wait. That wasn't right. She had only met him in the past year. Baby Mason even less than that---

"Woah, where did you pick up that language, Mason?" She grinned at the young man. "Don't you speak to your father like that~"

But she should be wearing her costume right about now, not her dress...though. Hm. Tight rope walking was her passion. She had the knack for balance ever since she was young, but she some reason she felt like she was missing her calling by not taming lions instead...

Sachio Sugiyama

Sachio sighed as he twirled the stick that he had in his hand at the top of the trapeze platform. He was bored. The show should have started already yes? He was supposed to do his act and hope there was a net to catch him underneath if things went wrong. But all that was going on was that he was here at the top waiting for... something. The precision of the jumps and other stunts reminded him. He wanted to be a surgeon... but he was a tightrope walker wasn't he?

He stood up from the wooden beam and looked down below him. There were others, but he didn't see the one person who was supposed to be there yet. "EunKyung." He whispered to himself as he scanned the floor from up above. They had met here unexpectedly... but if she was supposed to be in the circus with him, why would it be unexpected?

He knew that this was wrong but was it really? He had to find EunKyung so that they could figure this out together.

From a social gathering, with Sachio, wearing a doll like dress to standing in a circus outfit and looking around for Sachio it was a big change. While she didn't notice it she felt off, that was for certain. Glancing about she called out. "Sachio." Moving around, looking to avoid others, she was certain something was wrong - she felt off. Maybe Sachio could help her, he was good to her like that.

So many people though - so many other circus performers were around her. How was she supposed to find the other in this crowd of people? Stopping, standing still, she took the time to think on where she'd last seen him...and that was when she first felt like this was all wrong - being here was wrong. What was she supposed to do though with this feeling?

"Sachio!" Honestly where was he? She always went to him when she wanted to practice her act, she trusted him and he trusted her, he made the perfect person to practice on!

He should have already been up on the tightrope, practicing, but he had lost something - a bit of his uniform, and he was scouring the area for it - he needed it. Maybe one of his friends, the odd few he spent most of his time with, would know where the bit was? Rhona did often act like his mother, as well as the mother for the other two, so maybe she would know best? If not she could of course help him - right?

"Gabriel?" Calling out, the other should be close by, at least he had been not too long ago. "Have you seen my left shoe? I have my right...but my left is missing." Maybe a big cat, or a monkey, had gotten hold of it and either destroyed or lost it. He certainly hoped not.

As he took a step, to continue his search, he felt something shift...like everything around him changed for a moment. They weren't in the circus for a moment. It wasn't long...but it was enough to have him thinking something was wrong - something was off. Was it just himself though?

Jason had the knife in his hand and could see the target board in front of him. Nothing would be passing if he didn't hit dead center. Unfortunately for him, his mind was playing tricks on him. Wasn't he drinking a glass of wine? Now, that was his knife and not far form him was the target. In the ins and outs of his illusion, he did manage to throw it. Not very fast or far though. At one point her both heard the glass shatter, and saw the knife sink deeply into the target board.

"That was...good...right?" His mind was a jumble of a mess as he switched form believing in one reality over the other. Hadn't he been at a party? With friends as well? AS he glanced around he could tell they were here with him, but was it really because of a party? They had all grown together in the circus! They were a Circus family. That's how they knew one another. Right?

"Rhona? Xi?" They were his pals, maybe they had some sort of idea of what was happening here. The worst they could do was tell him he was going crazy. Maybe he just needed a nap.

Gabriel lived for the thrill of falling through the air, trusting his life to his partner in the air. There was nothing more thrilling then a free fall. He had already gotten in his share of practice though, for now he was spending time with friends before the show was to go on.

"You lost a shoe? Really?" It was then that a vision flashed before him. Of a life outside of the circus, one where he had only know Xi-Wang for a short while instead of years together. It shook him for a moment and he paused. Something was wrong with this. Both felt so real, like he could make an 'A' or 'B' choice and that would be it. His other life would be forgotten and he's move on with his decision.

"Is a shoe what you're really concerned about?" He wasn't sure if ti was only him going crazy or not. The last thing he wanted was Xi-Wang accusing him of losing his mind minutes before they went on for a show.

Nate Whitmore

His smile brightened some when she laughed, and he gently squeezed her hand as they went. He snuck a kiss to her cheek in before she could pull away after her comment, and he whispered, "Can't wait to show you off, either, gorgeous." When they got to the dance floor he glanced around curiously, wondering for just a moment why there were elephants trumpeting...and then the wondering quickly changed to acceptance and dumbed down to a "oh, duh, it's a party," moment so he quickly and easily shifted his focus back to her. His hands found their place on her and they started to move together.

"Thank you. So do you, y'know. Beautiful, as always. That dres--"

He paused when the lights flickered, glancing up and around with a mildly confused and concerned expression. When they steadied again he noticed. The change in scenery, for the most part, because he couldn't quite place how or when they got there but there they were. And there he was...

"Mm. Babe, you want a drink?" he asked after a long moment, considering the memories that were flashing through his mind.

Seren Yong

Knowing he considered her gorgeous, and that he wanted to show her off, was definitely something that made her cheeks flush happily. So did dancing with him, something she had never really gotten to do with someone before. She was not exactly, therefor, the best at it... But she was clearly enjoying herself and enjoying being there with him, in his arms and at his side, depending on the moment. Her cheeks were happily pinked, and her eyes glittered. When he started to compliment her again, she was considering leaning up for a kiss, and then things went strange.

The lights flickered and then... How... where was she? How had she gotten to this new room? It was not where she remembered being, and... Oh. Her head... Her head suddenly hurt, though she kept that hidden behind her blue eyes, but the sudden dueling memories in her head were making it feel ready to crack in half. Part of her remembered her usual life, of being a college student in her final year of her Bachelor's and of being a tutor. And of having a serious fear of clowns.

The other half of her had the memories of BEING a clown, and loving it, loving performing in front of everyone, and earning their adoration that way. Of doing all kinds of classic clown tricks, like juggling and posing, and being silly. And these memories did not mesh well with each other, especially the part where she suddenly felt terrified of her very own self. She wanted to run to the nearest window, fling it open and jump out, because this was a nightmare for her, one that she had no clue how to get out of, or make it stop either.

Nate's words had her looking up and staring at him. The circus-reality overwhelmed her for a moment, and she saw him in the outfit of a lion tamer. It suited him, she had always thought it did, and he looked so handsome... And then the Celebration was back and she gave a weak nod. "I am going to go sit over here, babe. Please get me something cold? I think I need it..."

Rhona Lee / Acubens -- Lion Tamer

The sound of lions in Rhona's ears mixed with the chaos around her. Her vision swam between the warehouse before her and the dim and dusty lighting of a place that she knew and didn't know all at once. It made her head swim and hurt almost instantly.

"Ah -- Xi-Wang? Jason? Gab?" Her voice sounded so far away... or maybe it was just weak from the sudden onslaught of feeling. not just stimulation, but a warm feeling of familiarity whenever the faded image of a circus shimmered before her eyes.

Rhona bent her head, pinching the bridge of her nose. Was she wearing a dress or something more savage? Something with leather leggings, metal bracers, and furs draped across her shoulders. Something that felt familiar and yet not at all? The two images of herself flickered before her eyes, causing a migrane that she could not stop to rage through her head. Maybe... if she could just power up...

She didn't hear her call to power, but she did feel it spilling over the crown of her head. She was still confused and lost, but the headache that had nearly split her skull open had subsided a little.
