The small grimm giggled as she swung from the tree branch. The to and fro swing of her legs and hips gave her momentum, till she finally gathered the courage to launch herself forward and release her grip on the limb. Her stomach plummeted as she hung in the air for a moment. No ground at her feet, no tree branch in her reach. Her black ears were perked forward and tail fluffed behind her.

She forced her legs up further, straight out in front of her as she gained more distance. Shifted herself forward, legs down. Her feet landed together, sneakers digging into the worn and exposed dirt of the path. Up went her arms, the traditional pose to stick the landing.

A grin broke out along her face and she let out a whoop of joy. "Got it!" Practicing gymnastics was fun. But way more fun when she was outside. Inside the gym was so... same.

The day was warm for the winter season, enough to encourage people from their homes. Somewhere, Orion and Tatiana were playing chess at picnicking table, while Reina had run off into the small hiking trials around the park. Her somewhat heavier jacket was slung over a branch, feeling warm enough with her bits of fur and the general heating of her body from playing and practicing. Grinning, she dug in her claws into the trunk of the tree and began to climb back up, soon swinging anew on the branch with the intent of launching herself high enough to do a flip.

Jane enjoyed the sunshine. It warmed her dark skin, melted the snow that clung to the ground and hid all sorts of gems, and, it made the world a bit more brighter. A hike around her favorite trail, the best one to find unique rocks, seemed like a great place to start. And she was headed that way...

until she saw a grimm climbing up a tree trunk. The elf paused in their step, their intense gaze zoning in on the little nightmare."What..are you doing?" she asked, unsure if she herself even wanted to know. Little ones only caused trouble. They were only up to no good. Jane didn't want to get in the middle of that. Yet..she was curious. The rock that glinted light next to her also was tempting to her eyes. "Do you think you're a squirrel?" Who else climbed trees? Vespercats? Jane wasn't very good at her familiar studies.

Dark ears perked and swiveled, purple eyes turning towards the source of the voice as she clung to the tree trunk. Owlishly, she blinked at the woman before a laugh broke from her lips. "Nah, that'd be silly!" Because, in her mind, it made perfect sense for her to be climbing trees. She grabbed one of the branches and hand over hand, wandered down the limb before she began to start her swinging. It was a painfully slow process at first, lots of grunts and huffs as she worked her legs and hips to begin the back and forth motion.

"I'm... practicing!" It wasn't very easy to talk while she did this, her arms up around her head preventing her from properly hearing or form the words.

So she just worked to show the lady.

Reina kept up her antics till she began to really swing on the branch, her arches growing in length and strength, smoothing out in the process. Adjusting her grip, she checked to make sure the lady was watching before she again released her hands when she was at the top of her swing forward. Eyes bright, she pushed her legs up, tipping herself upside down in the air, and forcing her momentum to pull her legs back down to complete the flip.

Her landing was far less smooth, landing first on her left foot, then stumbling onto her right where she planted herself. Still, she grinned, and turned about quick on the ball of her foot to grin to the woman. "See? I'm practicing my gymnastics!"

The grimm did have a point. That would be silly. But who was able to climb like that?! Who was able to be that limber as a freshling?! Jane could barely stretch and reach her toes in gym. It hadn't been that long since she was a freshling either. "Uh-huh." She nodded, still somewhat doubtful. This was the first time ever that she saw such a hyper child.

She could understand why some parents called babysitting freshlings "imbueing control". Just watching the grimm made her think that it might be best to not have kids ever. Why didn't everyone adopt? That way they'd get a freshling that they would know that they liked. Worked for her father.

Jane could have sworn that the kiddo was going to break something. A foot, a leg, an arm, their head, at least the branch that she was swinging from. Each moment that the grimm inclined higher, Jane tensed. When was it going to happen? How was it going to happen? Would she have to get someone's help.

But, it didn't happen.

All thought stopped when the freshling let go of the still healthy wood and flipped in the air. She was going to be blamed for murder. The grimm was going to crack that little head of theirs wide open. Jane half-heartedly reached out towards the grimm even though she was still a step or two away. But...the kid made it. Jane let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding. "Gymnastics?" She frowned, looking around the area. "Don't you need a gym for that?!" This wasn't a gym! This freshling was crazy. "You could die from hitting a rock, you know." And then it would be the rocks fault, and not the little kid's....It wasn't fair.

Not dealing with a dead kid was also nice too.

Reina's ears perked forward towards the lady, head tilting this way and that. The sigh, the accusations. They were more confusing and a bit amusing to the child than anything else. It didn't occur to her to perhaps be offended or even concerned about them. "Anywhere's a gym, depending on what you wanna do. Same with how anywhere's a classroom depending on what you wanna learn. My dad taught me that." Orion had only taught her that last portion, not the former. Reina had decided on that bit herself. He'd not be exactly pleased to find out one of his adopted kids was misappropriating his lessons. Her sneaker scuffed in the dirt and her ears tipped back a little as she shrugs. "'Sides... gym was closed today."

The notion of dying though was unfathomable to the kid, and Reina made a face before she laughed. "I'm not doing anything dangerous, though. I'm just practicing stuff!" Her ears tipped forward again, and once more her head tilted side to side as she looked at the lady. "How come you're so freaked? Did I scare you or something?" None of her tone suggested malice or amusement, but instead genuine curiosity. It wasn't like she wanted to freak someone out.

But this lady clearly knew nothing about gymnastics from her questions and assumptions!

Uh-huh. Right. Jane nodded dumbly to the girl's thought and looked around the area herself. Still didn't seem like it was a gym to her. There were no benches or safety nets. The only thing to catch her was nature itself. "Still doesn't seem very safe." The elf's eyes narrowed as she looked from the tree to the freshling in front of her. "Shouldn't you be watched by a parent?" Jane winced. How could she forget that some kids didn't have parents. She had been an orphan herself. "Or---an adult?" Wait...she said she had a dad. Tension left her shoulders and she sighed in relief. But her dad could have been gone. They didn't have to be alive.

Dieties, what had she done? Her body clenched up once again. This was not good. Why did she open her mouth? Why did she decide to interact? Jane knew she should have stuck to Lilly. Lilly never bothered her about things. She never did anything that was super out of the normal.

"You could have broken a leg! Or sprained one!" Jane couldn't help the tremor in her voice, gesturing frantically towards the tree. Did this grimm not understand? Did they not think? Of course they didn't. They were just a freshling.

And the grimm had called them out. Jane stiffened. She could have sworn her heart skipped a beat. So freaked..."Don't be ridiculous." she scoffed, looking to the side. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not freaked." Scared for the freshling's safety? Hardly. They weren't her kid.

Why was she arguing with a brat anyway?!
