Richtersveld was out on patrol, holding her first aid kit tightly in one hand, fresh water in the other. If she ran into anyone harmed by the Negaverse in some way, she could help them out.

That was all she wanted to do.

She had no interest in physically fighting the Negaverse herself, really. Her primary approach was to talk to them, see why they thought the way they did, perhaps talk to them until they realized that what they were doing was fundamentally wrong. It was slow going, unfortunately, and she was finding more often than not that most of those on the other side had no interest in extended communication.

When she felt the sensation of a lieutenant nearby, she let out a quiet sigh.

She shifted her direction, heading towards where she felt the energy signature, hoping that what she saw wasn't anything too terrible. Hopefully, it was just a lieutenant standing around doing nothing, or waiting to find someone like her -- a knight -- instead of terrorizing the civilian populace.

That would have been what she hoped, anyway, but instead, she saw a lieutenant standing near an unconscious woman.

Disapprovingly, she frowned.

Did she pop out of nowhere to ruin people's nights?

"Funny," replied Richtersveld, though her tone hinted she didn't find it very funny at all, "it seems that you're the ones that pop out of nowhere to ruin people's nights." It was something she was intimately familiar with, considering she had lost her own starseed when she was just trying to walk home from work one day. Uncomfortably, she lifted her hand and touched it to her chest.

She reflected for a few vital seconds, but then moved on.

Of course, she wasn't about to move away from an agent and an unconscious civilian.

"There's no youma in the vicinity." At least, not that she could feel. It didn't matter. She continued on anyway. "She was probably heading somewhere, but now she won't be. Instead, she'll be waking up after having her life force stolen, in a place where she is vulnerable. Someone might steal her things while she is unconscious." A deep breath. "Someone may perhaps steal her life. It's hard to defend yourself when you aren't even awake to knock someone away from you. And if they don't steal her life, the shadows may scare her, now. She may have more nightmares."

Richtersveld tilted her head at the lieutenant.

"If you think she's none the less for wear, you'll more than likely be incorrect."

She didn't attack Sinoite, but she wasn't exactly getting out of the way, either.

Wallowing in some sort of problem?

"So you made her problems worse?" asked Richtersveld, shaking her head. "You probably distracted her from what she was concerned about, sure, but you endeavored to replace it with such things as waking up in an alleyway."

She wasn't certain if the boy was listening to her, honestly. In fact, it was looking like he was trying to find an out with the way he was looking around. It didn't surprise her. If he was really just doing this to avoid retribution, then he likely didn't have any interest in actually engaging with her. That didn't mean she was going to back off engaging him, and to that end, she stepped a bit closer.

"You don't have to do this, lieu--"

The jingle bells smacked her in mid-section with a clatter, and she let out a stunted, "Oof," pulling her body back just a tad to grab onto her stomach. He tried to cut to the left, so she pulled back just slightly further and to the left to block his path.

"You didn't need to do that, either, lieutenant."

So he couldn't get his weapon back, she pressed her foot onto them where they had fallen to the ground.

Goody-two-shoes?

Part of her took a moment to wonder just how old the people who were recruited into this war were. It seemed so many of them were young, some of them seemed too young, and yet she knew that was part of the horrors of war. Most recruits in the military were just barely adults, some not even old enough to drink in the countries they were from or the countries they were being sent to. She supposed it was much the same here.

Just on a universal scale.

"Semantics? It sounds like you're trying to avoid what you had to do. Are you uncomfortable with it?"

She heard the threat to punch her, and frankly, she knew it was likely coming. It wasn't the first time she had ultimately ended up having someone hit her or grab at her, even if the one lieutenant's bad aim had resulted in a rather uncomfortable grab. She'd blame that one on the height, for now...

But if she could make him hear a couple words she was saying, perhaps it was worth it.

Richtersveld shook her head at it being none of her business.

"Unfortunately, you made it my business when you started draining the citizens of Destiny City. Someone needs to stand up for them against people like you." She crossed her arms under her chest, though she still kept her foot on his weapon to hopefully stop him from getting it back.

Even if it was just a tambourine.

"Those who are complacent can be just as guilty as those who lead, lieutenant."

Richtersveld made a quiet, "Oof," sound, having to rebalance after the lieutenant opted to push by her and run away.

She had clearly hit a nerve, but it almost seemed like he thought he had no other options. Was he aware he could purify? Was that an option he would even take? Or did he feel trapped? Was he convinced he was trapped? Was he simply complacent?

She supposed she wouldn't know, considering he fled.

Richtersveld sighed lightly.

She turned her attention to the civilian he left behind, kneeling down and taking out some equipment from her first aid kit.

Best to focus on those he hurt in his wake.
