Kerberos landed back on Earth with a grin still plastered on his face. He'd done it. Not only had he found something on his planet that would let him help people, he'd Transcended. His planet recognized his dedication, recognized his desire to be free of Chaos and to keep going forward, and had rewarded him.

He would never have to fear the specter of corruption again, and more than that--he knew what he'd seen Irit do.

He could use the pretty pendant around his neck to help people. To ease their pain.

And there was one person he thought of, immediately.

He pulled out his phone, and tapped out a quick text.

Hey saltshaker, it's your favorite Care Bear. <3 I know it's been a while since we talked, but I found something on my planet you need to see. Also I glow now? So be ready for that. Meet me by the Times Circle fountain, if you're free?

It had been a tentative attempt at patrolling that was immediately sidelined by a text - and to see Kerberos' name bought a wave of two-fold relief, both that he was okay and that hey, he didn't have to ******** try and do the big brave dog solo routine tonight. Awesome.

cool so b ready im a pirate now seemed like it had been overall the most effective way to n** that one in the a** before it happened up until that point. Even if he kind of cringed as he typed it. onm way

Eurydike wasn't kidding: he made a beeline for it. Planet hopping sounded a whole lot more appealing than trying to suck it up and get himself back out there (especially since he still didn't really know what the ******** he was even doing anymore).

Kerberos grinned. The quick response boded well, and it was reassuring to know nothing too terrible had happened since he'd last seen his friend.

--Well, perhaps he'd judged too quickly, on that, since "a pirate now" could mean any number of things, and Kerberos sincerely doubted it was literally a career move to oceanic thievery. Probably. Destiny City was a bit far from the ocean, for that.

He greeted Eurydike with the same bright, giddy grin, and ran forward to scoop him into a hug as soon as he arrived. With context, it was obvious that "a pirate now" referred to the fancy new eyepatch he sported, and Kerberos was sure that was an awful story, but he doubted Eurydike was eager to hear it out.

"It's so good to see you, goddamn," he said, brightly. "How has everything been?"
