The Chibi Senshi of Fear had never been out this late before. Getting older, though certainly not yet the adult he thought he was, he was inclined to push his limits farther than they used to go. He was not brave enough to draw the ire of his parents, and yet here he was, sneaking out of the house later than he ever had done before.
After all they were going through, losing his brother and fretting over him endlessly, he was pushing them away from him. He did not even notice it, and was far beyond being able to understand it in such a plain way. He was acting out because he was hurting, but he was only causing more pain by doing so.
All he really wanted was to find his brother. Safe. Alive. The same person he had always been. The longer it went without word from him, without any evidence that he even existed now, the less likely it was that he would ever come home. That was the simple truth.
But not something Cygnus was emotionally or mentally mature enough to accept. Let alone even try to face. Instead, he tried to avoid it at all costs, and focused on how pointless being a senshi seemed to be. Staring at himself in the reflective surface of a closed store's window, he saw his stupid scarecrow outfit and snarled at it.
Chibi Senshi of Fear. That was his title. To him, it might as well have been baby of being scared and running away. He was pathetic, and useless, and he hated how clearly he knew that. Gripping his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white, he felt himself shake with a sudden surge of anger.
Why did any of this matter?
He lashed out, slamming his fist into the glass and shattering the window, an alarm blaring as soon as it was broken and the glass spilling all over the empty, dark sidewalk.

Elvira had been taking a bit of a break lately, focusing on working in her civilian life rather than being an active participant in senshi life. It wasn’t that she didn’t like it or that she didn’t believe in it…sometimes it was just too much.
Too much for anyone.
Tonight she was out again, and honestly, it was a relief to be back in her fuku, feeing the soft warmth that her powers gave her. It was nice. Calming.
So far the night had been utterly uneventful and she enjoyed that more than she wanted to admit…at least until she heard the sound of shattering glass and the hair on the back of her neck stood up.
A robbery? But…but that…that felt almost like a chibi senshi’s aura. Small and pure and…before she knew it, Elvira had made her way over, and when she saw that it was none other than her old…friend? She had tried to be his friend, had wanted to be his friend.
“Cygnus?”
She stood and stared for a moment, her long curls slipping into her face. Quickly she pushed them behind her ear and took a good look at the boy, then at the window, and then moved swiftly over to him, grabbing his wrist and jumping onto the nearest building. “What are you doing? You’ll have the police on your butt…are you okay?”
He was still a chibi. Still a basic chibi…and for some reason, that made Elvira feel very, very sad. “…What’s going on?”

"What do you want," he snapped immediately at the voice, recognizing it but not placing it until he turned. His expression shifted to surprise for a moment, but melted back into the angry scowl only a moment later. He did not seem pleased to see her, but at this particularly moment he was not pleased to see anyone. "Just leave me alone, I don't need you telling me what to do. I don't need anyone telling me what to do." He folded his arms over his chest, not noticing the blood on his knuckles. He took a step to face her stubbornly, crunching the glass under his foot and digging his heel into it to make the scraping sound louder. It was a miserable sound effect, piercing the air and his ears, but he liked it that way. It was too quiet tonight. The alarm helped too, of course. "Why should we be scared of the police? They can't do anything to us." He looked at the window he'd shattered. It was a sports store display, things that did not really matter to him and certainly not anything he wanted, but he still climbed into the window and grabbed a bat from a mannequin, hopping back out and resting it against his shoulder, gripping the handle with his bloodied hand.

The sound of the glass on the concrete made Elvira wince and reach up to cover her ears, and again the boy’s sharp words brought tears to her eyes. Why was this boy always able to hurt her feeling so well? It wasn’t fair.
“Are you serious right now? Cygnus…I thought you and I were friends! You do this every time that we meet and…it’s not fair.”
She quickly wiped away the tears when his back was turned, and when he turned to face her again, holding a bat of all things, she just looked confused and utterly incredulous. “Now what do you think you’re doing? Of course the police can do things to us…they’re the police! They have guns for one thing…just because we’re magic doesn’t mean that we can’t get shot to death if they think we’re robbing a store!”
And it wouldn’t even be them thinking that the teenaged boy was robbing the store…because now he had.
“Do you think you’re going to hit me with that bat, Cygnus? I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Tell me what’s going on. Why are you acting like some…punk?”

"Not fair?!" Cygnus wanted to laugh but the sound got stuck in his chest, behind something big and heavy in his throat. Instead, his eyes teared up, but he screwed his face into his angriest scowl in order to hide the sudden rush of emotions. He pointed that bat at her, though it lacked the threatening intimidation that he wanted and it mostly just looked like he did not know how to hold a bat. "There are a lot of things about being a senshi that aren't FAIR, but me being mean to you is not one of them. If this is the worst problem you have, then you've got it super easy and you should be THANKING me for giving you something to do." He pointed the bat at the ground again, frowning and walking toward her for a few steps before turning to the side and walking toward the street. "I'm not going to hit YOU. Even if you are annoying. But I will hit this." He felt compelled to use the bat, to show her he was serious and he was not some pathetic little kid. Maybe he was jealous of her power, or maybe he was trying to show off and seem tough and dangerous. Whatever it was, he lifted the bat over his head and smashed the car that was sitting under the street lamp in front of the store. In the distance, he heard police sirens approaching.

Elvira’s hands were clenched at her sides and she looked angry. Unhappy. There were tears welling in her eyes and she shook her head, giving what almost sounded like a growl. “You’re a brat!” She hissed and held her hands together for a moment. “Elvira Garland!”
The magic was thrown at the boy and she watched him.
“You’re going to get arrested do you want to go to jail?” Her voice was suddenly shrill as she imagined what could happen if the police found him. He could get hurt. Killed. If the police were secretly agents of chaos…that could be the end of her friend and…
Elvira couldn’t let that happen. “Put the bat down and let’s go.” She hoped that he would listen. Hoped that her magic would calm him long enough that they could at least get several rooftops away. “Come on, Cygnus. I don’t want you to get into trouble…you’re my friend.”Lithiasaur Super Sailor Scout Attack: Elvira Garland! Sailor Elvira holds her hands together and says the name of her attack, then spreads the hands apart in a circle formation, creating a long garland of energy poinsettias. She flings these at an opponent and if they hit the/a target, the/a target will suddenly appear to be wearing a garland of the energy poinsettias around their shoulders and a feeling of happiness will overtake them, lasting forty seconds. The attack can be used three times per battle.

Cygnus had been called a brat many times in his life. Mostly because he was, and always had been. He acted out when he was upset, and when he was afraid. But for some reason, hearing her call him that made him much more upset than normal. He did not want her to think of him that way, for some reason. Even if it was exactly how he was acting.
He was surprised when she called her attack, thinking it was going to cause him some trouble, but it was really just a girly neck thing that... made him feel okay for a little bit? What a weird power to have. But he supposed it was just the antithesis of his: he made people feel afraid, which was bad.
Same basic theory of being a distraction, though.
It was hard to frown when he was being made to feel better.
"No, I don't want to get arrested, but I just want to... it doesn't matter, just come on. We should get out of here, anyway, because they won't know it was me if we're both here."
He moved toward her and offered her his hand, the nice, polite kid he pretended he wasn't managing to escape for a few moments. Sure, the weight of his sorrows and angers would return once the spell wore off, but he was not really thinking about that right now.
"I'm sorry I scared you."
