"Oh, come on, you fat kitty, I have to go to work. Crème... Crème... Crème Brûlée! Lève toi!"
The tom woke up to the voice of his twoleg calling him. And she was staring at him. No.. she was staring at.. the small cold thing (keys) that she used to open the den. Oh, so she was going to leave him alone again. Why did she leave every dawn to come back to him at dusk, and not bring him a present? Whenever he went out, he would bring her a new leaf or stick. Ungrateful twoleg.
"Okay, okay, I'm getting up." he said, giving himself a quick stretch before hopping off the cabinet. His twoleg muttered something that he could not understand before holding the den opening open a while for him. Crème Brûlée often went outdoors to watch his twoleg leave and then would reenter through the dog door in the back. It was the routine. He could come and go as he pleased.
Soon enough, his twoleg got into the monster and left. Crème sighed and made his way to the fence and hopped onto it. "Hey Creampuff, are you out here?" he called into the territory next to his.

"Of course I am." Came the mew on the other side of the fence. After a noise of exertion, Creampuff appeared on the fence. "Hello, brother mine." He purred. "Is your Twoleg gone for the day? Does that mean we can go adventuring?" He turned his head back to the clear sliding door. Through this door was attached his own small entryway to his den, should he need it. He could barely see his Twoleg from his position on the face. All day they sat propped up at some box with a glaring light and with a surface that made "tic-tic-tic"-ing sounds when his Twoleg pressed onto it. The only use that Creampuff had been able to find in it was that it was warm. For a while, he got the most enjoyment from draping himself over his Twoleg's hands onto that unusual surface, refusing to budge.
These days, however, he was much more interested in the prospect of adventuring! He'd overheard another kittypet, Lin, discussing the notion of wild cats and well, you couldn't get much more exciting than the wilderness!
He looked expectantly at his brother. "We don't have to go into the trees, if you don't want to. Not this time, but... We should at least have a walk to the trees. Maybe we could hunt something! Lin, you know, from a few dens down, he said that his friend Bell goes hunting all the time! Maybe we could try that, hm?" He suggested, eagerness plain in his expression.

A purr came out of Crème as he not only heard the familiar voice, but saw the familiar face of Cream. In all honesty, he did not cat for socializing. The only exception was with his brother.
"Ooo, an adventure sounds nice," he said, thinking about drinking from the bird bath, or even spying on dogs, or even just marking bushes together. Those were the adventures that Crème was expecting. However, Cream started mentioning trees, and the kittypet frowned.
"You want to... walk to the trees. Like the big trees. Not the trees that our Twolegs grow..." He was hesitant, and playfully flung a paw to his brother. "How well do you know Lin? I heard that he would talk to just about anything. Is Bell even real?"
He heard of stories of cats going near the trees. And terrible things happening. It was the unknown, after all.

Creampuff shifted his paws when his brother became hesitant. He had been hopeful that Creme would be more for the idea. He smiled when the mention of Lin came up.
"Well enough, I suppose. We talk on occasion. I've never actually met Bell myself, so you may have a point on that front." With a small sigh, he added. "Well, I suppose we can see if there's any birds to hunt by the bird bath." He offered to his brother with a hopeful look. "And if you don't want to stroll to the big trees with me, then I'll go by myself." He flicked his tail against his brother's nose as he started to walk along the fence towards the direction of the bird bath. "And if I get into a tizzy with a badger, well, I'll deal with that on my own I suppose." He mewed, before leaping off the fence with a soft thud.

Creme gave out a smile when he was able to bring Cream back to reality. They were safe doing what they always did. Exploring the unknown would lead to danger. "Yes, the bird bath does sound pleasant," he purred, slowly following.
But then Cream then mentioned that he was still going to go there? "Yes, get in a fight with a badger, I suppose. And then come back home to your twolegs, and they would have to bring you to the twoleg medicine cat. I can't bare to see you bandaged up and under such medicine."
Creme huffed before leaping off the fence, onto the sidewalk. "Come, the trees are closer to Lin's than ours. We should head over there before we run into any dogs." He couldn't believe this was happening. But Creampuff's happiness and safety was really all Creme wanted in life.

Creampuff was ready to go to the bird bath and go out later to the trees on his own, but at his brother's words, he purred in delight. He head-butted Creme's shoulder fondly.
"You are the best brother ever, Creme." He mewed. "Besides, just a quick trip and then we'll be home before our Twolegs even realize we've gone." He thought back to his Twoleg, likely still "tic, tic, tic"-ing away at their odd box. "If they bother to notice, that is." He added with a shake of his pelt. "They really are such unusual beings. But I'm glad that we're able to be so close to one another." He went on as he padded along the sidewalk. The pavement was warm under his soft paws and his tail curled up in delight.
"I'll tell you what," He mewed to Creme suddenly. "If we get any sort of leaves or bits in our pelt today, I'll spend the rest of the day grooming them out of your fur later. As a thank you gift. Unless you'd rather I try to hunt you something." He offered, tilting his head with a playful look in his gaze. "How'd you like to try a bluebird or a mouse instead of our kibble for a change, brother-of-mine?" He mewed, almost teasingly.

Hearing the praise of being the best brother ever made Creme even more appreciative of his brother. He had no idea where the rest of his family were - mother, father, sisters, brothers? It was just always Creme and Cream against the world. And that was how it would always be. ...Even if Lin and the mysterious Bell were slowly entering the picture.
He began to wonder. What was out there. Wild dogs? Even the dogs that Twolegs kept were vicious enough. Badgers. Birds that could carry a cat. Kittypets like him were supposed to stay around their dens. Where they were safe. But today they were going to go against that. All because of Cream's antics. He did secretly wish that it was boring enough out there that they would quickly return home. He knew Creampuff would want to continue exploring if he found it interesting.
His thoughts were broken when Cream started speaking again. "Remember when we were kittens and you wanted to explore the roses? You spent all day taking out those thorns for me," he laughed, reminiscing over the past. That's how it always was. Creme the more "let's be comfortable with our lives," and Cream the more "we have to find out what's out there" type of duo.
"Only if you try it first," he said. "You should be the one to have first bite of whatever you catch today. If you catch anything." There was no doubt that the master of hunting the mechanical mouse toy would be able to catch a real one.

Creampuff grinned at the memory, purring his amusement. "I'll admit, they looked a lot prettier from father away. Still, I was sure that we were small enough to get through the really thorny patches." He replied and brushed his pelt against his brothers. "You're such a good sport, Creme. I do so appreciate your company." He reminded the tomcat.
"Oh I will absolutely try it first." Creampuff assured his brother. "Come on, shake a leg and we'll be to the trees in no time." He added with a grin.

"You know that I feel the same," he said, not wanting to say 'i love you,' because that would be weird.
Creme waddled a bit, before readjusting to the new texture under his paws. Real grass and real stones and stuff, before taking a large puff of breath and sprinted a bit towards the woods. Creampuff would catch up.

Creampuff let out a pleased 'mrrow' of delight when his brother sped off towards the trees. It had surprised him that Creme Brulee had so willingly taken off on his own, but not so much that he stalled long before charging after his brother.
He liked to think that he was more active that Creme, but even as he caught up to him, he found himself panting slightly.
"Look at you!" He purred. "Taking off so abruptly, why, you may be the true adventurer between us, Creme!" He said, slowing to a walk and looking out to the trees. They were considerably taller here, than the ones of Twolegplace. He advanced slowly, falling silent as he listened to the sounds of these woods. Breathing it all in, he looked to his brother. "Shall we see if we can't find something worth our while to hunt?" He asked.xKOVAKtheWOLFx Depending on Creme's reply, I'll roll for Creampuff's attempted hunt in my next post, okie?
