Oof. Her head. The steady throbbing stirred the wolf pae from her slumber. Oww...I didn't drink that much last night...right? Maybe a cold bath would help, and a large glass of wat -

Her thoughts stopped as she heard a soft noise beside her. Slowly one amythest eye cracked open.

Oh. Oh no. Oh no no no no no no no.

Her jaw dropped. WELLSPRING?! Instantly her heart fluttered to life as the other eye shot open to stare at the sleeping sprite.

Oh no. Oh no no no. They were lying together. In bed. HE WAS CUDDLING HER TAIL!

Her headache reached new heights from the pounding of her heart now. What did they do last night? It was all so fuzzy. There was dancing and flirting and oh dear guardians she kissed him. And then they went into this private room of the hotel...

Oh no. Her father...was going to be pissed. And who knew what Wellspring was going to do the instant he woke up. Would he regret it? Did he want this? Did she want this? There were far too many complicated questions needing answers right now at a very time sensitive juncture. Maybe she could shimmy her tail out from underneath him, gather her dress from the floor and slide out without being noticed...Then she could think and reflect on everything that happened. Ever so painfully slowly, she reached out to her tail to try and pull it from his snuggling embrace.

Wellspring was having the most pleasant of dreams right now.

His thoughts were drifting with little thread of cohesion, dancing and swirling. He was dancing and swirling, and he wasn't alone while he did so. There was laughter... was it his laughter...? It felt like he hadn't enjoyed himself so much in some time. In his groggy consciousness, he just wanted this warmth and moment to continue on for so much longer.

Then the figure he was playing with skipped closer and gently brushed soft, brown fingers against his cheek. He tilted his head to meet their stroke - his cheek in the real world seemed to lean into the movement of Aurelia's tail as she began to pull it away - but then the figure in his dream laughed and pulled away. It twirled as it skipped and danced into the distance, never looking back.

It just left him as it moved further and further into the distance, laughing.

And then she was gone, and once more he was alone.

Even so, he didn't give chase after her within the dream - he simply watched and seemed to accept that it had been but a fleeting moment, one he probably hadn't deserved.

With a sigh, he'd turned to walk away when hands covered his eyes from a figure behind him, slim fingers changing the world from light to darkness in an instant. He didn't move as she pressed her body against his back and softly whispered into his ear, "Come now, rise and shine."

In the real world, Wellspring's eyebrows furrowed as he appeared to begin stirring awake.

Just got to keep an eye on that claw. He wouldn't intentionally clip her, but he was asleep. As the tail started to slip from his grasp, the sprite nuzzled all the closer! No Wellspring! Oh no. Come on, you're making this harder. Especially since his face was beginning to move. She was out of time. Holding her breath, she pulled a little faster on her tail to slip it free.

Then carefully, Aurelia slipped from the bed. Her feet softly touching the floor before taking on her weight. She proceeded to pad over to her discarded dress to pick up the garment and quickly pull it over her head and body.

Time to go, time to go. I can't believe this might work. Now to slowly creep towards the door...
PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2019 3:00 pm

She was right, time was up.

Jostled as his 'pillow' was pulled out from under him, a groggy sprite laid face-down on the soft sheets of the bed for a moment before a lack of oxygen forced him to roll instead onto his side, insect-like wings pressed tightly against his back to keep from being hurt in the process. His eyes slowly opened as he stirred awake, his vision blurred and his head light and airy as he stared into the tasseled sheets in front of him. He didn't register where he was yet, only that he was extremely comfortable.

He couldn't remember the last time he'd had a full night's sleep, and neither could his body by the way it struggled to wake up. If it had remained silent in the room, he probably would have drifted once more into sleep.

But he could hear the sound of someone else in the room, of footsteps and other sounds, and that roused his innately-suspicious side. Why would someone be in his room? It wasn't like he had anything of value on him...

He wasn't so much panicked as genuinely confused.

With a sleepy motion, he pushed himself up. His wings flicked lightly, tossing the sheet off from his back as yawned and rubbed one of his eyes with the back of his claw. He then turned to look behind him at the rest of room.

Oh look, it was Aurelia.

.
.
.

Wait what?

Almost home free. Almost. Just had to get to that door. Her eyes flicked over to the sleeping Wellspring to check on his progression of waking up.

Only he wasn't asleep anymore.

His eyes were open. Staring at her.

Oh no.

And time for awkward. The wilwarin flashed a surprised smile as she brushed at the hem of her skirt. "G-good morning! Sorry I woke you. Um. I was just going to get breakfast. Did you want breakfast? Not sure if they have a breakfast service here." How many times was she going to say breakfast? Aurelia was floundering, hiding the fact that she was trying to make a stealthy get-away. Like this was completely normal. So far he wasn't freaking out though...That was good. Maybe he did want her there. Maybe he wouldn't be upset. Maybe this wasn't such an embarrassing disaster.

She didn't know what was pounding harder, her heart or her head. At least he looked nice and rested. Lucky.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2019 3:32 pm

"Uh... Good morning...?"

The sprite was still clearly not fully awake as he habitually responded to her greeting and the cogs in his mind began to start spinning. What was Aurelia doing in his room? Had she come to wake him up? But then she wouldn't have gone to leave before doing so... It was like he was missing something. Something important.

Okay... Slowly... Slowly... He started to replay his memories of the past few hours.

He was at Las Venus.

He'd come here for the party against his better judgement.

He'd run into Aurelia here.

She'd slapped him and had him join her for the party.

They'd gone to some entertainment room.

They'd danced.

And then... What had they done then...?

He couldn't remember.

.
.
.

Wellsprings eyes, which had been staring off into space seemed to return to lucidity as he blinked twice and looked at Aurelia, his expression dumbfounded. His cheeks quickly flushed red, the color seeming to spread across the entirety of his face and to the tips of his ears as he remembered the rest of the night: all of it. He wasn't sure what he wanted to do more: run away, disappear, yell... should he apologize? Was she going to slap him again even though it wasn't his fault.

This wasn't his fault.

Oh Laisidhiel he could die right here. The Cheiftain would have his head.

The glimmer of hope that this wasn't about to go poorly, was very quickly dimming. She could practically see the realization slowly dawn on his face as he went from sleepy, to confused, to bright red. Even his ears turned.

They were just staring at each other now. His blush was making her own face heat. She could just die. She'd give anything to just disappear. How had this happened? Was it her fault for kissing him? Was it his for holding her so close? No no, it was both of theirs. It took two to...well.

Arrive to where they had.

Now that he was realizing what happened, she was at a lost for words. How do you follow that? Hey, last night was fun, are we dating now? Was I just a fling? Did it mean anything? But something had to be said, the silence was becoming stale and uncomfortable. "Last night was...crazy, huh?" Lame. Coward. Her tail was absolutely still behind her.

"Yeah.... uh... it was -cough- something alright..."

His voice trailed off, his tone noticeably a higher pitch and softer than it'd been a moment prior. His eyes were darting every which way that wasn't on her as a thin film of sweat began to cover his body. He felt so embarrassed right now, so vulnerable, exposed. It was as if his actions had been written on a wall for all to see. There was a saying that went: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on... me...

This was twice.

Frankly, he wanted to run away, but she blocked the only exit from the room. Would he be able to make it past her if he ran? No. He knew she had better reflexes than him, especially since he'd moved to the Spring.

What was going to become of him now? He'd quite literally slept with the enemy. Twice. If anyone found out... If the Chieftain found out, would he be extradited back to the tree and sent to the roots with his father, or worse: banished? What would his mother think? His brothers? Could he ever look them in the eye again?

Could they pretend this had never happened?

No. Not now that it had happened twice. And he was just too easily identified: all she had to do was mention his general appearance and it'd be over. Plus this had been in a public gathering: too many witnesses. There had even been fauny there. Sure, most seemed to be preoccupied among themselves and intoxicated, but if even one of them remembered him... Oh this was bad. Bad. Bad. His quiet life was practically over.

It wasn't his fault.

It wasn't his fault.

It wasn't his fault.

His mouth was painfully dry as he tried to swallow the lump that had formed in his throat and he looked down at her feet. He couldnt meet her eyes. Hell, he couldn't even place his feelings... Everything was a mess. He didnt know what he needed to do, what he wanted to do... He couldn't form a single coherent thought.

After a moment, he slid his feet to the side of the bed and, looking down at his feet all the while, walked over to the attached bathroom and quietly closed the door behind him. Once alone, he slid down and sat with his back against the door, his face once again flushed as he brought his knees into his chest and placed his palms in front of his mouth.

He wanted to die.

Without noticing, he'd forgotten to lock the door behind him.

Well. That didnt help at all. More awkward silence, Wellspring looked away which oddly made her more anxious. Her heart began to ache as he slowly stood, and disappeared into the bathroom. She was so stupid.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Her eyes started to sting but she refused to let them become tears. No matter what he said. No matter how he acted at night. She had to accept she was just someone to bang to him. And the only reason she should be upset was if he wasnt the same to her.

Stupid. Now she had all these conflicting emotions as her migraine screamed in her head. She was confused and hurt and she was angry but didnt know at him or herself. Maybe both. With him in the bathroom she could just leave now.

No. She wasnt going to run from this. Gritting her teeth, she moved to the bathroom and held her breath. No sounds came from the restroom. Was he hiding from her? "Wellspring? Wellspring we need to talk about this..." It happened once. It happened twice. This had to be talked about.

His heart was racing, he could practically feel each individual beat as it pumped blood to his face.

He practically yelped when he realized she'd come over, but of course she would after he'd locked himself in here. His eyes darted about; no place further he could hide. The last thing he wanted to do was to be seen right now, especially by her - he was so confused and... confused and he didn't understand why what had happened had happened and he didn't particularly want to talk about it.

Maybe if he was quiet she'd lose interest and walk away?

No. That wasn't going to work.

He wanted to just die right now.

"Do... Do we h-have to...?"

A very quiet and meek voice could be just heard from outside the door as he wrapped his arms around his legs and buried his flushed face into his knees.

She didnt want to talk. She wanted to run and tell her father about how she was an idiot who apparently had a weakness for an emotionally unavailable sprite. But she was always taught to face her problems head on. You can only run so far. "Yes. We do." Aurelia stated, partially for him and partially for herself. Slowly she turned so her back was to the door, and slowly slid down so she was sitting herself. "I think you owe me another date." The wilwarin said dryly, her amythest eyes closing. Her poor head. And heart. And stomach.

"I can't figure this out alone. For some reason we keep ending up here." A sigh as she reached to her head, gently rubbing at her temples. "Does this happen with anyone else with you or am I just special?" A wry smile. It was a cop out question. She really wanted to ask if he liked her. If he wanted something more. If he was expecting some sort of friends eith benefits deal.

Wellspring moved to set his chin on his knees as she rebuked him, not particularly surprised about it. Of course she wanted to talk about it. He stared off, unfocused, as he quietly listened to her talk.

This wasn't his fault.

Of that much, he was certain. Yet... From her tone, it didn't seem to be her fault either. It was strange, but he could almost feel himself in her words. Confused. Frightened. Vulnerable. If it was some ploy to pull the wool over his eyes, she'd have to be a phenomenal actress. It went against everything he'd generally characterized her as, yet he somehow couldn't bring himself to doubt a word she spoke.

A few moments passed in silence after she'd finished speaking. He needed the time to try and collect his thoughts as well as he possibly could.

He gripped his claw with his hand as he spoke with a shaky voice.

"I-I... I h-haven't done... that... with anyone else..." He paused as his cheeks flushed again for some reason he didn't understand, and he bit his lip, tears touching the corners of his eyes. He was so frustrated with himself. "I... I don't know why..." the emotion in his voice was raw. "...its always been you... It shouldn't be, but it has..."

The silence was deafening as she waited a response. She swallowed hard, trying to calm her frayed nerves. The door was cool on her back, no doubt because she was burning hot.

Then, a tiny voice popped up. And oddly, his response made her feel better. She wasn't just another girl at least. "Same...It's honestly really...confusing to me." She had just wanted to make up being mean to him as kids. Maybe even leave things on good terms where they'd be acquaintances if not friends. Not fall into the bed with him. Twice. Did she want more than acquaintances? That was so stupid. It was like her body kept ignoring what her mind was saying and went and did what it wanted to anyway. "All of this is so foreign to me. I don't know where to go from here." Which was strange for her, she typically either knew what to do or would fake it til she made it. "What do you want to do?" She asked much quieter, one of those hard important questions. "...And running away is not an option. That doesn't work long term."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2019 8:09 pm

"I don't know."

The fact that he didnt know what he wanted to do was probably the only thing he was certain of. It was almost ironic. Most of him wanted to run away, so to have that option taken away... well, it was putting him out of his comfort zone. She'd said it yesterday, hadn't she?

He was a coward.

Running away was all he had even been good for.

If he couldn't do that... if he had to press forward... It was terrifying, something he'd never done. Something he didn't want to do.

"But..."

She'd always had him wrapped around her finger, ever since they were kids. It was like she instinctively knew which words to use to cut into his heart, what would hurt the most. And then what would pull him right back. It was a strange sort of power. Was he dancing in the palm of her hand even now? Or were they dancing an awkward number together? He wasn't honestly sure. But for now, perhaps only for now, he was going to try and place a bit of trust in her words.

"...maybe we could get some breakfast..?"

Greaaaat. She was really hoping he'd make it easy on her and have all the answers.

He wasn't done talking though. And his response...A small smile crept onto her face. What an insanely simple answer. She could almost laugh if the situation hadn't been so tense seconds ago. Maybe simple was the answer for right then. "I can get on board with some breakfast. I'm starving." And maybe it would help her head. In a fluid motion Aurelia stood back up, running a hand through her long locks that had come completely undone from last night. Now pooling around her shoulders in a soft cascade of purple. "This is a hotel, they have to have breakfast somewhere close by." Not that she really knew what a hotel meant. But they expected people to spend the night, so obviously that meant breakfast in the morning.
