[MINI META] The Restless Dead

The N'ezi-Ozu have been ticking along 'nicely' since they were discovered and though there are still several kinks to work out...and some suspicions to work through, peace has reigned as a constant until now. Itiri and the citizens of the N'ezi-Ozu no doubt want to continue with this, ensuring the prosperity of the pride so that they can flourish and grow.

...Alas, there's just one slight problem.

It seems that while they were shielded for quite some time, the powers that be beyond their borders have finally begun to seep through into the caldera. The divine battle above hasn't necessarily hurt them, but in a pride where the dead are revered, there has now been cause for considerable concern.

Events started off small and largely unnoticed as these strange wisps of light began to appear in the forbidden regions of the Caldera. With the Royal Family nowhere near this region it remained unknown; and then within weeks it had spread. These odd little wisps crept up from near the catacombs and soon became something even more...they began to 'whisper'.

To the N'ezi-Ozu it seems clear that something is amiss and the dead are unsettled; those who should have moved on appear to have returned and those that were forbidden to cross over have now made their presence known. While no N'ezi-Ozu can understand what these whispers are, the vast majority of the pride are left in little doubt that they need to do something to settle the dead and return them to their slumber.

...Thus, the remaining Amoosu were summoned and Itiri put to them a challenge.

Fix this. Tell us what to do.

While the Chieftain may rule over the living and ensure their security, it is the Amoosu who he now relies on to guide them through this.

Without a doubt the pride shall unite behind the Amoosu and endeavour to perform whatever rituals are necessary; no matter how odd some might come across...and they will continue to do so until the restless dead find peace once more.

This is the first Mini-Meta or the N'ezi-Ozu and it's largely related to the Shop-Wide God meta. There won't be any tragedy in this meta but we're hoping to make things a little bit more fun for you!

If you have an Amoosu please feel free to reach out to us directly to help out - we're curious as to what your Amoosu might do to placate the spirits when sending them to their rest.

I may not be a Priest...but I may have a plan?

The Amoosu are exceedingly busy as of late and with Itiri making it abundantly clear that now is their time to shine, their already limited numbers have their paws full. With the priests thoroughly occupied with genuinely trying to sate the restless dead, it's been left to the rest of the pride to ponder what other methods they might have at their disposal to make the passing of these spirits easier.

It's at this point that one of the outsiders comes forward and this outsider has a suggestion.

It isn't a suggestion that's bound by N'ezi tradition and seems to hail from her former home, but what is that suggestion?

The Prize

She's not an outsider, she's from the N'ezi-Ozu! She has no personality set but she is from the Agha family. She's not immediately blood related to the surviving non-NPCs in the family to avoid conflicting with existing characters and the backstories they've already created.

Lioness Name: Dia Muerta
Did she change her name when she arrived or has she always had this name? It is the name she was given when she was born

Where did she come from? Dia Muerta came from a small pride in an arid area it was always warm and dry in her homeland and finding water was a daily struggle. They lived in small caves in family groups, Dia lived with her mother, father, grandmother and many other family members in a very squished home. They have special alters set up to honor their dead on special days to bring good luck in finding water each day. Her home still means a great deal to her, but she needed something else in her life so she is seeking a new home where she can have a little more room to breathe. There are very few plants around her home and not many prey animals to hunt, which also caused hunger issues and has not allowed for the pride to expand in many years since the pride is unable to support more than 15 lions at a time. Dia's pride is also very short on handsome males that would be suitable for mating with and breedings are strictly controlled due to the water and food problems. The elders would never leave their homeland even as the young members beg them to give up this land of death. There is nothing else left for them in her homeland but the elders are to blind to see the truth of the situation.


What led her to the N'ezi? Dia is seeking a new home where she hopes she will find more food, water, and potential mates.


Where did her idea come from, is it part of her old pride? Yes her idea is part of traditions of her pride.
What is her idea? Dia Muerta has suggested holding a festival to honor the spirits of the dead, setting up altars with gifts for the spirits of the dead, flowers, meat and food. Shiny stones, shells, songs to honor the dead. When she discovered the N'ezi pride and saw the spirits floating around she thought it was no wonder that the spirits were restless there seemed to be but joy or honoring going to the dead, everyone seemed a little on edge. She is unsure why everyone in the area is so uncomfortable, but she has always thought more about the dead then she did the living well except for herself since she wanted a life for herself with a little more breathing room, where she could perhaps raise cubs. With the way her home has been structured for many years if things do not change it won't be much longer before her family line dies out with no fresh blood being added to the line. She also suggests either painting the faces of the living to honor the dead or making masks to honor the dead. Brite colors to make things fun and exciting for the spirits so they can feel that the living care about them and honor the lives they once led. Garlands strung above each cave brighten this pride up and give both the living and the dead something to feel happy about.
