Since the Winter Wonderland Carnival opened, there had been a section all the way in the back that remained blocked from view by wooden fences and blue tarps. Every now and then, sounds would be heard of an almost construction like nature but any questions were met with staff just telling passersby that it would be opening soon and to thank them for patience.

What in the world had not been ready in time for the opening?

Now, the fences are gone and the tarps removed allowing guests to see for the first time, the Winter Carnival’s pride and joy: An Ice Maze!

Eight Foot ice walls shoot up into the sky marking the entrance before returning to a mere seven foot the rest of the way through. Scattered throughout the maze are iced carvings ranging from the abstract to animal and human figures. Yet at the center was the true treasure: the figure of a woman made of pure ice resides in the middle looking out at all those who enter her maze with wonder. She appears as if she could almost step off her pedestal and speak with the people around. Even the small fairy like creatures carved around her appear to have their wings flutter in the glow of the twinkle lights hung above the maze center. There is something strangely alluring about her, and once you find her you may find yourself so captivated by her appearance that the rest of the world seems to disappear around you and you lose track of time. Thankfully, there are enough people that someone is bound to shake you out of your stupor...eventually.

Making it through the ice maze rewards you with a small little ice fairy sculpture, a souvenir and reminder for the evening. Each person is given one but if you ask nicely, they might just give you one or two more to take home as gifts. After all, who doesn’t want their own 12” tall dancing fairy made of crystal? After you exit the maze with your prize, you may find yourself dreaming of the beautiful icy woman in the center of the maze, watching you with her cool smile and cold eyes.

OOC: Anyone who does this prompt will walk away with an ice fairy sculpture. Each one of them is slight different from the other but they all bare certain similar traits: they are all made of clear crystal without any color, all of them have a single pair of fairy wings and every single one seems to bare a childlike smile.

You are welcome to go through the Maze multiple times to see different things and explore the sculptures within. While you will be rewarded each time with a fairy, only ONCE will count towards a raffle ticket!

Laughing in sheer delight at each new sculpture she encountered in the maze, Daisy clicked away with her little fuji-film, carefully tucking each picture into a purse pocket. Sure, the walls were only a foot or so taller than she was and it would have been so easy to try and peek over them, but that would have spoiled the joy of discovery! Though she couldn’t help but think about stories of snow queens and white witches are she traversed the maze. If any of the ice carvings had looked unhappy or frightened, she would have noped out of the maze within micro-seconds.

“Jesus lion can fight his own battles, k thankx,” she murmured to herself as she snapped a picture of a particularly pretty ice stag. It was a good thing she’d brought lots of film for her camera, she thought. Based on how many snaps she’d already taken, she was going to need it. Pausing a moment to do a quick reload, Daisy followed the path and soon enough was at the center of the maze.

Gasping a little in wonder, the tall brunette stared at the ice woman, camera hanging limply at her side as she tried to process just how pretty everything was. She seemed so life-like and something about her face made Daisy wish she was alive because they could have been such good friends. Slowly, she brought her camera up and began to dreamily take pictures from every angel she could think of. Then, her picture taking frenzy slowed and she was content to just sit in front of the sculpture, chin in her hands, and simply loo. The fact that her pants were quickly becoming damp from the snow didn’t matter. Nothing mattered but the ice lady.

Daisy smiled to herself, admiring how the strings of twinkling lights flickered and reflected off of the lady’s face and form. Why, even the little fairies carved with her were wonderful. Not as wonderful as the lady, but still pretty great. Sighing in pure contentment, Daisy finally stopped trying to put feelings into words and just sat, watching.

She made a growl of annoyance when a hand landed on her shoulder, shaking her roughly. Glancing up, she saw a pale, worried face and frowned.

“What?” she snapped.

“Jeez, lady, are you okay?” the teen pulled back and looked relieved. “You were just sitting there and not moving. I thought you were having a stroke or something!”

Snorting irritably, Daisy tried to move and found her muscles stiff from the cold. Blinking a little in surprise, she accepted the teen’s and to help her up and winced. How long had she been just sitting there?

“Thanks, kid,” she murmured. “I’m fine. Just got a little distracted. And, uh, stiff.”

Laughing a little sheepishly, she gave the kid a friendly pat on the shoulder.

“Hey, thanks for checking on me, kid. Y’all have a good night.”

Making sure she still had all of her things, Daisy stretched carefully and headed for the exit, Pausing long enough to be given the cutest crystal fairy. Oh, this was going somewhere good when she got home. And even as she walked home, part of her mind drifted lazily back to the ice lady.
