Quote:
The Holidays are supposed to be a time for cheer, and yet there's something strangely dismal about tonight. You're out by yourself and you pass by a building completely coated in a strange sheet of ice. When you catch your reflection, you're trapped reliving your loneliest moment. The illusion can last for as long or short a time as you like, but the hollow sensation lingers even after the memory fades. What memory did you find yourself reliving and, now that it's over, what are you going to do to shake this mood?

Crocoite was about done with this horrible holiday and everything surrounding it. First little snow flowers that made a senshi all soppy and mad at him for just stepping on them, and then those insufferable giggling snow fairy things that made him want to punch himself in the face just to stop from hearing them.

When people said there was 'magic in the air', they were really not kidding. This was Destiny City, after all, where strange things were common regardless of if the general populace cared to notice. Magic was ALWAYS in the air.

There was something about the holiday season that just made it even worse.

Grumbling to himself, he walked with his hands in his pockets rather than carrying his cane and keeping his back straight. He was a little slouched, not caring if any of the straggler civilians on the street noted his weird appearance. His clothes were not the most outlandish around here, anyway, and what did he care if they had an opinion on his clothing?

If anyone said anything, they would just become his next victim.

Not that he was in the mood for hunting tonight. In fact, he was not in the mood for much of anything besides going home and opening his drink cabinet.

He noticed, though, that there did not seem to be a single soul about in this particularly area. In fact, it was absolutely silent, devoid of any movement or a sign of life. Not even snow was falling, and the wind had stilled. He wrinkled his nose in distaste, turning his head to look down the other side of the street. In the process, he caught sight of a building covered in a shimmering film of ice. Strange. It did not feel cold enough for that, and this was only one building out of a few on the block. Was this the left overs of a fight? Perhaps a senshi had cast their magic and left this.

He tilted his head, seeing himself staring back at him in the mirror like surface of the ice. He closed his eyes, his head feeling fuzzy, and growled before opening them and trying to clear his mind. He was surprised to find a young man staring back at him. One he recognized, but had tried for many years to forget. He was standing at the door of a car that was idling, its engine sputtering every now and then as the snow fell around him. There was a thick layer already built up on his thick coat, and though his mom had taught him how to zip it tight and keep the hood pulled up, he’d let it fall down in the wind. His face was stark white and he had clearly been crying, the heat gone from his skin and tears freezing against his cheeks.

Two strangers, men, were with him, kneeling down and speaking to him, explaining how things happened. Things he was too young to understand. He had no family, not any more. They had been there just a few hours before, when he went to school, but now he had been brought to his empty home. They told him he would be okay, he just needed to get his things. He had no living family besides his brother.

He asked if his brother could take care of him. They told him that no, he’d declined. He said he had no brother.

His brother did not want him. Did not know him. Would not come for him. He was on his own. They said he could try to talk to him, to call him. At the station, when they got there. He got the sense they were placating him, but it was exactly what he needed. He watched himself dial the number they gave him.

He waited. And waited. No one came to the phone. The line died and he kept it pressed to his ear. He’d heard so much about Tony. Everything. Surely he would answer. He would come and they would be a family, since there was no one else.

Crocoite watched as the little boy stayed clinging to the phone, no one able to take it away from him. He remembered sitting that way for hours, until he’d fallen to sleep, and they took him to an orphanage.

Hi I thought I would join in in this Too. Kaileen is the senshi of Peonies. But she is not out hunting today. She hasn't met anyone in the negaverse yet and is still kinda new to this. I'm her mind she is seeing a serif dressing guy acting werid?

Kaileen was on her way home. She spentef the day at the mall. She went gift shopping for not only her family but for the friends she met on the way. Yes most of them were talking cats, but friends still they were.

She loved this time of the year. The flowers and playing in the snow. Going Christmas tree shopping with her family and dressing it up. It was truly a magical time of the year.

It was cold and she was freezing her butt off. When she woke up this morning and went outside it was not that cold to her. Do she opted out on taking her cost with her. And that was a mistake that she was regretting.

She turn the corner and a weird dressing guy caught her eye. He was dressed all in black an outfit that looked kinda like an trench coat. He was in front of a building. The building was covered completely in ice. Kaileen wasn't sure to be more concerned for the guy or the building. She wasn't sure about what to do. The guy was facing the building and looked to be in some kind of trance. Maybe he was some kind of crazy homeless person.

Kaileen couldn't just leave him without saying something or offering to buy some food. She went up to the guy.

"Umm excuse me, are you alright? Do you need help?"

Crocoite was drawn from his memories by an unfamiliar voice, and he jumped, recoiling a bit and very nearly calling his cane to his hand. He stayed himself, though, because he did not feel any aura around him, so it could not have been an enemy. He looked at her, growling lowly, eyes sharp and edged with danger.

He had not enjoyed his trip down memory lane.

"Do you see anything strange in this reflection?"

His words were not particularly warm, and he was still very wrapped up in the anger of his memories. He worked very hard through his adult life to forget his pathetic upbringing, and in the day to day he managed to avoid all thoughts of it. Now, in this miserable time of year, he's forced to relive those moments like some sort of Scrooge?

It was ridiculous. Christmas Past had no business with him, of that he was sure. It had to be some sort of White Moon trap that caught him in its snare. Either way, at least he was drawn out of it.

And now he had a target to get a little pay back on. Draining energy and stealing starseeds always made him feel better.

The man had nearly jumped out of his skin.

"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I was just passing by saw you and was worried that you were sick or something."

Kaileen didn't mean to scare the man. Although she didn't really feel right being near or around him, she just thought it had to do with the fact that he was a stranger. She wasn't sure if he was a bad bad guy. The ones that her friend Tolin had told her to look out for. Since becoming a senshi she had never met one and didn't know what she she should be looking for. She shooked her head and focused on the man in front of her. It would be best Mr to be distracted just on case.

She digged inside of her pockets.

"It's not much. But if your hungry there is a burger shop around the corner with a dollar menu."

She was sad that she only had enough to feed the poor man. He probably needed a blanket too. Where is he sleeping at a tent? Or his car. Kaileen tried to do what she can for the homeless when she can. She had a roof over her head and food to eat.

As Kaileen took out her cash to give the man she thought back to what he said. Something about seeing something in the ice on the building. Poor thing was seeing things.

"I see ice sir...."

Kaileen looked toward the building and instead of seeing her reflection she saw a little 5 year of girl. The girl she knew too well, the scene that was in closing she knew all too well.

She was in a hospital waiting room with her brothers and father. They were called her to talk about her mom. Her mom had just went to the grocery store to get some stuff. A large group of police had came out of the emergency room and took her father to a tiny room. It was the scream that got her. All she remembered next was being in a room with a sheet covering something. The hand that was not in the sheet had the same ring that her mother had always wear.

She had turn toward one of her brothers who was willing his face and eyes off with a napkin. Why was he crying?

"Brother look That's the same ring mom wears. Where's mom? Will she come get us after she shops?"

Her brother had stoped crying and poked vet at her other brother. They took her outside back to the car and sat her down and told her that her mother was not coming back.

Kaileen had never felt more alone then she was younger and need of a mother's love.

Crocoite was angry, but that was not unusual for him. He was not exactly a friendly guy, especially when he was hunting, but being forced to see his past like that was the last straw for this evening. He wanted to escape those memories once more, and the only real way for him to do that was to get lost in his work.

Where before it had been his business, building it up and making his own way through the civilian world, now he had a new job to focus on. And really, it was much more rewarding. Money only had so much meaning, but energy and starseeds were worth so much more.

If anything was going to make him feel better, it would be that.

Crocoite eyed her when she tried to over him money.

Seriously? His overcoat was probably worth more than her entire education, and she wanted to offer him a dollar? He was clean and well put together. Who just randomly decided a stranger on the street was a hobo just because he was looking at a reflection? That just pissed him off further, and he really just wanted to pull her starseed for the audacity of the insult.

Instead, he watched she she got distracted by the ice as well. He supposed she was having the same issue that had plagued him. So it was some sort of magic, then. Fine by him. He moved to put his hand on her elbow, not trying to make it seem like a friendly or supportive gesture, but rather just wanting contact so he could steal her energy while she was distracted.

Maybe he would make this weird ice building work for him, after all.

Kaileen shooked her head and pulled herself out of whatever trans she was in. That memory was something that she didnt want to experience ever. To see and watch it unfold again right in front of her was the most hardest thing for her. She remembered being left at her grandma's house while her father and brothers went and took care of funeral arrangements and such. They didn't tell her anything said she was too young. She knew though that her mother wasn't ever going to be going home again.

She should just go home. But she first wanted to make sure the guy was ok. She mumbled under her breath.

"Um sir is that outfit warm enough for you?"

She felt kind of odd. She didn't know how to explain it. She must of gotten sick or something.

"My head kinda hurt."

She turned to look at the stranger. Was he holding on to her elbow? Kaileen started to get a little scared and started to regret stopping. She should have just ignored him and too her butt home. But no, she had to let her loving, caring nature get the best of her.

"Sir take your hands off of me."

She started to feel dizzy and put of sorts when he had touched her. She didn't know what to do. Should she power up? Was he one of the bad guys that Toby and the talking cats she met told her about? What if she did power up and turns out he was just a regular human and she accidentally hurt him? She didn't think she could live with Herat for hurting an innocent.

Crocoite pulled his hand back after a moment, a small orb of energy in his palm. It really was not much, he supposed, but it was better than nothing. He found it was still difficult to focus, his mind still wandering back to his childhood despite his very best efforts.

The ghost of Christmas' past was a very cruel b*****d, it seemed.

In any case, it was still early enough in the evening for people to be wandering around, if she was any indication of that being true. He did not want to risk someone hearing her calling for help when he was so out of sorts. He doubted he could effectively fight like this, which just made him grumpier than ever.

Seemed impossible, but there were stranger things afoot than him being angrier than normal. Like ice sheets filled with bad memories, for instance.

"You're lucky I'm feeling generous tonight," he said in a low growl, "and you get to keep your life. If you'd insulted me on a better night, you would not be walking away from it."

It was a flimsy excuse, but it was all he really had at the moment. He couldn't just say he was feeling moody because he remembered how sad he was as a kid. That was pathetic. No, he would just sort of... creep away now, and leave her scared and confused.

Thank you the RP 💚 hope to do more with you. 😘

Kaileen took in a big breath and osed her eyes and counted slowly to 10. She opened her eyes and looked at the man. That was what she got for being nice and caring. She loved her life with a veil on her eyes. She needed to be more tough or if she saw someone who thought was in need of help she had to just mind her business and keep going.

"I don't know what your problem is. I am sorry if I offended you in some way but you did not have to act the way you have. I'm no psychologist but you need to talk and bent to someone. You seem to have a lot of pebt up anger inside."

Kaileen turned and walked off to continue her way home.
