He was Russian so he should be good at this right? Right? Mordred was a kid who threw herself headfirst into things, and ice skating was no different. Sure, she was likely to be terrible at it, but hey, never knew until you tried. Or in Mory's case, clung to the rail until she yelled '******** IT!' (much the the shock of a few other skaters) and threw herself into the rink. Now, she was getting it down.. mildy. Garbed in her oversized holiday sweater from Banks, she looked for her guardian. Hopefully, by the end of the day, she'd have a nice photo to send him to show yet another side of her papa. "PeitroooooOOOOOOO" She yelled for him, suddenly realizing that in stopping, she was stuck. Moving she could maintain. Dead stop- somehow less so.

Ice skating wasn't exactly Kavinksy's thing but when Mory had pushed for it, he relented. How the child got away with so much, he didn't know but he'd embraced his dad mantle readily, despite the aggravation that came with it.
Still, while he hadn't been in some time-- not since his own father died -- Kavinsky could remember how to skate easily. His first strides were wobbly but he would liken it to riding a bike. You never quite forgot how to skate.
While Mory was busy simply trying to skate to any degree of talented, he'd lapped her three or four times. And now, she was stuck having somehow lost her momentum and hollering his name.
"Hush, Mory, you're too loud," he scolded even as he came to her rescue. A disappointed look was worn on his face before he held out his hand for her.

"Sorry Papa." She sighed. She did know better given they were in public and such outbursts were rather dramatic, even for her. "Gravity hates me." She remarked, grabbing his hand and quickly moving to grab his coat. He legs wobbled a bit, but at the least, she didn't end up falling or kicking him by accident. "How come you just- augh. You did actual circles around me. 'S not fair." Even when she knew he probably knew how to skate and would be better. "Can you do a jump though?" She could stick near the rails, but Mory was curious just how good her guardian was. "I could record it and send it to Banks."

It was hard to keep a completely stony look when Mory was looking up at him like a sad, scolded puppy. "Doesn't hate you, you're just clumsy." His tone stayed flat at least, even as he continued to skate around her in slow circles.
"I'm Russian, ice is nothing," Kavinsky offered, shrugging because he knew the comment didn't make much sense. Besides, it was only relatively true, in the sense that he was Russian and ice or cold didn't bother him but being Russian did not make him, immediately, competent at skating.
"It's like bike riding. Once you know you don't forget."
His hand reached out to help her get over to the railing. "No jumps. No videos, especially not to Banks."

She glared at the ice it had personally offended her, mumbling under her breath about he lack of clumsiness. Grabbing him as he helped her back to the railing she bit her lip in thought. "Come on." She finally said, hands now firmly gripping the rail, no longer at risk for Kavinsky letting her go because of her sass. "You KNOW he'd get a kick out of it- besides, he's practically my 3rd dad now with how often he comes over." She brought up her phone, wiggling it in the air. "We could also take a nice picture for himmmmm" she sang. "It'd be cuteeeee."

Silver eyes narrowed.
Kavinsky hadn't come clean to Mory about his relationship with Banks, because they hadn't decided what they were yet. It was all still tentative, even with the lawyer's continued and increasing presence at their place or theirs at his. Undeniably he was important, but he refused to admit how important the older man was.
"You should tell him that," K replied, thinking about how it would delight Banks to know that Mory looked to him as a father figure. Mory was important to his not-boyfriend, as important as she was to him actually.
"Fine. But of us, together."

It wouldn't have mattered if Kavinsky had or had not told Mory about his and Banks relationship. As far as the teen was concerned, they were friends and even if just friends, Banks was an honarary dad. Because thems the rules. It's the consequences of feeding a hungry teenager more than once and with things she liked to eat no less. It was just how the world worked. According to Mory anyway. "Hrmmmmm." Pretending like she was being given a bad choice the dramatics only faded into a wide mouthed grin. "I GUESS we could take a photo together." With all the enthusiasm and malice a teen had she pushed off the railing, headed right for Kavinsky phone already out and likely taking video.

Mory gave in far more quickly than Kavinsky was expecting and she was coming towards him quicker than he expected too. He had long since learned that he couldn't predict his daughter's actions, but he thought he was pretty good at anticipating.
Still, hands went out to catch her, making sure she stayed steady and on her feet before he shifted them both, warm hand pressing against the small of her back. He slipped into Russian easily, "Дитя, тебе нужно быть более осторожным."
She wanted to learn and he made more of an effort to speak to her in his father's native tongue. It just so happened that his tendency to do so was when he was scolding her.

Landing right where she'd planed to be, Mory was grinning ear to ear, the shutter of the camera going off rapid fire. "Извините, опасность - мое второе имя." Actually, she legally had none but that was besides the point. She grabbed at his arm, keeping steady and looking around at the others on the rink. Families, dates- and for once, she didn't feel so alone. Like she stood out or didn't belong. "You know what would make this day complete Peitro?" She said, scrolling through her phone. "Sending this to Banks." Her smug knife cat smile was wide as she hit send, knowing the poor man would soon seen Kavinsky's face and Mory's mashed up in an impromptu picture of childish glee and stern adult concern.

"Mory," Kavinsky said with a hint of warning in his tone. His daughter was a sassy one, he knew that, but that didn't mean that he didn't expect her to behave or to keep from backtalking.
Still, when she clung to him to steady herself he placed a hand on her back to help her.
"You don't--" It was too late, the message was shipped off to Banks and he exhaled slowly. "I should take that phone away from you," he threatened but knew that it would hold no weight.
"C'mon, he'll be expecting us anyway."

Even with the warning edging into his voice, the teen couldn't help but smile, gripping his arm to keep upright. It was nice to be scolded in a way. He cared. He cared and that was what mattered. "You won't. How else will you know if I'm running around at night fighting crimes, meeting boys, or committing arson?" She replied all to gleeful, knowing he'd likely snatch it up and hold it over her until later. "Besides, Banks likes it when I send him pics." Of Peitro and her being cute maybe. 4 am photos of memes probably not. Nuxaz usher off the ice and call it gucci

"довольно," Kavinsky told her, firm in scolding before he was coaxing her towards the edge of the ice rink. "We're leaving," he stated, one hands pressed against the small of her back to keep her steady as he skated them both off the rink.
Skates were returned and their shoes put back on before they left to hang out with the man Mory kept trying to make her dad too.
