Quote: You're out and about doing whatever it is you've got on your agenda for the day when you just so happen to spot a dark patch of color among the snow that lines the side of path you're on. Upon closer inspection, it's a leather wallet, stained from the dampness of the snow. Peeking inside, you find two things: one, a crumpled list of people's first names with random objects scribbled next to them and a collection of dollar bills. A lot of dollar bills. In fact, at first glance, it looks to be well over two hundred dollars. There are no other items in the wallet - no identification, no credit cards, nothing to help you identify the wallet's owner, just a Christmas list and a wad of money. Looking around the area, it's clear that nobody else is around. What do you do?
"Marnieeeeeeee, I'm cooooooooold."
The whine was uttered for the tenth or twentieth time as the two girls made their way down the sidewalk, the white haired woman clinging to her companion in an attempt to siphon some of her warmth like a heat-vampire. Bea was pretty sure heat-vampires existed and that she simply hadn't been inducted into their tribe or coven or clan yet - winter was always too cold for her and no matter how much she bundled up, she never seemed to be able to get warm enough.
Leggings clung to her skinny legs as she burrowed closer to the other girl, nearly knocking her over into the snow in the process. They were making their way back towards the older girl's apartment building, having finished some last minute shopping for various family members.
Well.
Marnie had done most of the shopping - Bea was just there to comment and complain about the weather and how badly she wanted some hot cooca and pizza when they got back to MarMar's place.
So, in other words, a typical winter day for the two girls.

In one hand was a myriad of shopping bags from small outlet stores, from shops at the mall and even a boutique or two that were along the way to said mall from her apartment. Her other hand was wrapped around Beatrice's shoulders, bags also in that hand but to a lesser quantity. Her best would find some of them hitting her chest, or tickling her face, but that was the price she'd have to pay for trying to leech Marnie's warmth.
She'd dressed fashionably, but appropriately for such weather, festive leggings with knee high sweater socks and boots that only showed the very tips of her socks. She wore a cute, purple Christmas sweater dress that was mostly hidden by the peacoat she'd also donned to stay warm.
Warm was important, which was also why she had a scarf wrapped around her neck to bury her reddened nose into.
"We're almost there Beebae," Marnie huffed, trying not to roll her eyes at the girl. "Like three minutes, c'mon." They would have been there sooner if Bea wasn't being the biggest whiner in the history of whiners and slowing her down but a) not helping her carry stuff and b) making it so Marnie couldn't do her power walk.
She stopped, suddenly, shoving the white-haired girl from her side and shoving most of her bags into her arms because she'd spotted something odd and went to investigate.
"Oh, look at this."

One second she was finally almost getting to a tolerable temperature and the next, she was suddenly having POUNDS of presents being shoved into her arms in lieu of the one she'd been trying to cling to. There wasn't much she could do but fumble and clutch onto the many, many bag holders as Marnie took it upon herself to investigate the dark object. If Bea hadn't been equally as curious as the older girl, she might have been miffed at being suddenly turned into a shopping cart but the inquisitive side of her had taken over, prodding the white haired girl to shuffle her way behind Marnie as she worked to steal a few glances over her shoulder.
"What is it? Whatcha find??"
It wasn't hard to figure out what it was, once she got a proper look by leaning over, spotting it around the girl's peacoat clad shoulder.
It was a wallet. Not the fanciest looking one but definitely a wallet and as Marnie opened up the billfold, Bea's eyes grew even wider at the sight.
"I think... we mighta hit the jackpot, Marnzipan."

Perhaps it was because Marnie was a shopper aficionado that the amount of things she was carrying on her arms hadn't really felt all that heavy to her. Or it could have been that she was too busy keeping her best Bea warm. Either way, she barely even noticed that she'd been lifted of all the present-weight even as her bestie struggled with it.
"It's a waaaaaalleeeet," Marnie replied in a sing-song voice. The girl held it up for her friend to see it before her thumbs split the billfold open and her eyes widened at the wad of money that kept it from properly closing. There was a folded up piece of paper too, a list of gifts but no recipients and if she squinted hard enough, Marnie could pretend like they were all things she wanted so she could justify her spilt second decision.
"Looks like Christmas came early for us Beebee," the girl declared, casting a coy look over her shoulder before slim fingers plucked the money out. "No identification, no way we could possibly figure out who this belong to." She paused long enough to make a show of looking around and to her delight, she couldn't see anyone close enough to have possibly lost said wallet.
"C'mon, we'll get chinese when we get back to my place, we can even get extra eggrolls!"
Into her purse the money went, the wallet tossed back into the snow before she started to march forward.

Dark eyes glanced over the crinkled list as Marnie pulled it out, the card slots on the old wallet as barren and empty as they were in her own. Some folks just couldn't afford credit cards - or had the credit to even apply for one. It was probably for the best, what with her lack of job at the moment and all.
As Marnie drew the bills out of the fold, Bea's stomach did a couple nervous flips as she looked around. There wasn't anyone around but someone had obviously lost a huge chunk of change while out and about. If she'd lost that much money she'd be beside herself... so would it be right to take it from some stranger?
The younger girl didn't seem to have much say in the situation, Marnie declaring the money to be theirs (or at least, hers with the intention of sharing enough to warrant grub for them both with it). It eased her conscience slightly at that -- she didn't touch the money, she wasn't spending the money and therefore she had no guilt associated with the money.
Besides... free food was pretty amazing.
"If you think it's okay... then yeah, I could go for some eggrolls. And Chinese donuts, those too."
Bags were offered back to the older girl, Bea clearly struggling with the load as nervous eyes continued to scout the area for any potential wallet-owners.

Marnie shrugged, either oblivious to Bea's concerns or..well, it was more likely that the goth girl didn't care. She was a witch, she made her own luck-- or whatever.
"Look, there's no identifications, no one around to claim it. It's the Christmas spirit's way of treating us with a gift." If she said it with enough confidence then they could treat it like a fact. She shook her head, pastel colored locks fluttering from the movement before she accepted half of her bags back, resolving to make Bea carry some too if she was buying dinner.
"Come on Baebee, let's order a feast." She declared, wasting no more time when it came to the trek back to her place.
