Derrick was... nervous to say the least. The time had come for Key to move into his apartment. He thought he would be... well he didn't think he would be this nervous about it! But he was, he felt like he was practically shaking. Even if she was just moving some of her stuff, at this point Derrick wondered if he would actually be of any help when it came to helping her move. He would just have to try to not let his hands shake so much. He was currently outside of his apartment building, waiting for Key to come by with the first of her stuff. He was checking his phone about 10 times a minute, anxious about when she would finally text or when she would finally come within view. He let out a sigh, watching as his warm breath floated away from him in the cold weather. At least with her at his apartment they could both cuddle and complain about the weather together. Or find other things to do in the apartment while it was still cold outside.

The time it took for her to pack had been longer than she'd thought it would be, she had more than she thought she did, but she'd started the night before so she wouldn't miss anything and would get it all neatly into boxes and taped shut. This morning, after waking up, she'd packed the last of her things and had gotten most of it either into her car but she still had big things to move...or deal with in some other way.
She wasn't sure yet what she was doing with her furniture. Some of it they may keep but a lot of it they weren't likely to need, as Derrick already had it in his place.
She was planning to talk to him about those particular items, for now her father had picked them up and brought them to her parents home. They would stay there till their fates were decided.
So she had everything else, from food and cloths to small things like lights, pictures, and other little things. It didn't seem like a lot but it was enough to fill her car with boxes. It made driving a bit slow, slower than she liked, but she wanted to be safe. It was why she didn't call Derrick till she was at a stop light around the corner from him. Stopped at the light, she hadn't gotten hit with a light till now, she placed a call.
"Derrick...I'm around the corner."

Derrick jumped a bit when the phone finally rang, and it took him a ring to be able to answer it properly. Taking a breath he had greeted her and she had told him that she was nearby. Right around the corner in fact! "All right, cool. I'm outside of the entrance to my apartment building, and we can prop open the door for a bit if we need to to get all of your stuff."He still had a hard time believing that this was happening. That his girlfriend was really moving in with him. He was still young and wondered if this was considered normal. At least the nervousness. "I'll see you in a bit then. Love you Key." Well, he said it. Hopefully it wasn't too... awkward or something. But he figured that's how he should end the call.

"We might need to, it'd be a good idea." Since she did have a lot of boxes. Propping open a door so they didn't have to keep opening, and closing, it would be easier for them both since this move might take a while. It might also be more appreciated by neighbors, and she sort of wanted to make a good impression on them.
Maybe tonight should be a night for take out? Since it might take awhile to get through her boxes, after they got them all inside, then tomorrow morning they could try breakfast on their own? While thinking that, and planning to suggest it, she almost missed his words Love you Key. Thankfully she didn't miss them.
"Love you too." And she meant it, she really did. They hadn't been dating as long as some couples did but it felt right to her, and everyone was different, she was comfortable with this. When she did get to move from her place in front of the stop light she didn't take long in arriving, she had been right around the corner, and parking to the curb she got out with a smile stretching her lips. "Derrick." Glad to see him she ignored her filled car, for the moment, and went to hug him. Leaning in to press her lips to his own.
"Sorry it took a while. It's been a bit of a busy morning."

While Key was still on the way, he made sure to prop the door open so that they could start as soon as possible. Now it was just time to wait. And of course since it was something that he was looking forward to/nervous as hell about, it seemed to take forever before she finally pulled out, and he relaxed a little.
He returned her greeting, though he felt as though she could feel his nervousness through the kiss. That was a bit embarrassing. "Right..." He was wondering if they could do it again and make it a bit longer... As much as he wanted to, it wasn't the right time. "I should have been over there to help. Though something tells me that I might have been more of a hindrance rather than of any assistance." He said, giving her a smile.
But since he was feeling so anxious about all of this, might as well put that energy to use! He looked at her car then back at her. "You can just tell me which boxes to take and I'll carry them into the apartment. I promise to be careful." After all, he didn't know what valuables were contained in each box.

"It would have been nice, not because of the help but because it would be you there." The response was spoken gently, sincere, as she reached up to run her fingers through his dark hair. It was such a contrast to her own white hair. "I was a bit of my usual self so I might have run you over, or just banged into you a lot. It's good you weren't there - even if I would have liked it." Taking a moment to just stand there, lean into him, she let her head come to rest on his shoulder.
"I'm glad today is here - finally." Fingers still moved through his hair before her head lifted.
"Anything breakable has the box labeled. You can grab whatever you want. If it's too heavy we'll do it together. But I think it's time to I get settled in and we make your apartment a proper home." A place for him but also for her...where they could be together and share their lives. She didn't mean to sound sappy, and she knew she sounded sappy in her own head, but she felt rather warm and fuzzy about this. It was a big step but it was one that was good...it was warm. She was going to be living with someone else and for however long they lasted they would spend their time together. She hoped it would be a long time.

The situation was still catching up to him, so even though he heard the words "proper home" he still felt as though it was his apartment and she was just putting some of her stuff in there. It clearly wasn't the case, but he couldn't help it. He could swear he felt butterflies in his stomach. He nodded. "Great! I'll be extra careful with the breakable stuff. Luckily we can take the elevator inside." He wasn't sure if he should stand there longer with her or if they should get moving. The former felt good, though probably looked a bit silly to those who passed them on the street. The latter however needed to be done and the quicker they did it they quicker they could move on to other things... He sighed. Well, today was the time to follow the logical route he supposed. "I think we should get everything inside first. That way we can go at our own pace putting things away and getting food and relaxing afterwards." He slowly disentangled himself from her. "And that means starting asap. We can do more... later." He said, giving her a grin before heading to her car and opening the door, trying to choose which of the ordinary boxes would be best to take first.

"Yeah, that is the best thing. Plus it's a bit nippy out and I'd rather get inside and be warm." She didn't like the cold any more than he did, though winter sports were fun, she just liked being warm and toasty. She didn't even mind the sort of warmth that was stifling and nearly overwhelming.
"I do wonder what you mean when you say later...the way you said it leaves a lot to the imagination." Grabbing a box of her own she headed for the doors to the complex, giving him a nudge and a smile as she went. "If you have something in mind...I'm interested." Really she was interested n anything which involved spending time with Derrick, especially now that they were going to be living together. It felt like they had all the time in the world, and weren't limited, so it left time to just relax or more together and not worry about having to leave or anything else.
"We should go out tomorrow night together. Work and such."

Derrick blushed a bit. He still wasn't used to the innuendo talk. Hopefully he would get over it soon though. But then again, he hadn't been in a relationship like this before. He couldn't help but smile though. "Well... if you insist. I can think of quite a few things that we could do later..." For a moment he wondered if his bed was clean enough. But he had just changed the sheets a few days ago. "I agree. We'll need to celebrate moving in together. Dinner sounds good, though we could do something else. Though the cold makes it a lot harder to go out." Honestly, if he wanted to "eat out" at this point, it would be calling and having food delivered. He followed her into the apartment complex, making sure that she didn't trip or anything. "Tonight though, I say we spend as much time as we can together."Sleet Tempest Snape Ending post from me! Thanks so much!
