If there was one goal in life that Queenie had, it was to get rich by the easiest means possible.

Easiest means possible meant using her natural skills and appearance to work her way up the ladder, one rung at a time. She hadn't made it very far on that ladder of life yet but she hadn't given up yet.

To put it bluntly, Queenie knew she was destined to be a mogul's wife and she was going to stop at nothing until she was sitting pretty at some rich man's side, being spoiled rotten to the core -- a privileged she deserved, one she was working towards earning since no wealthy individual had managed to grace her with his presence yet.

Still, she had her sights on one in particular at the moment, one who'd fallen into her figurative lap in the form of an associate of her dear Miss Ellis. Well, associate might have been too nice of a word - essentially, both Miss Ellis and her own boss. A handsome, wealthy young man who was blessed both with a bare ring finger and looks that would drive a girl to sin.

If Queenie had her way, she'd fix the former by dabbling a bit in the latter.

Timing was everything, in this particular situation. While he traveled out and about on business frequently, she knew she'd have to pinpoint a time when he was alone in his office. Not only that, but she knew she needed to find a time when he was left unguarded by his schedule-keeping, door watching secretary.

A quick call from around the corner and a message that there was a delivery to be picked up had the young woman begrudgingly leaving her desk, muttering under her breath about the laziness of delivery men and their inability to take elevators up to the appropriate floor. Queenie waited until his secretary had made her way out the glass doors and off towards the elevator before leaving her hiding spot, the basket of tarts still nestled safely in her hands.

"Mister Black?"

One hand moved out to gently wrap on the thick, impressive door before reaching down and twisting the handle, not waiting for permission to enter. There was no telling when the secretary would be back and Queenie wasn't about to miss out on her chance to kiss up to the big boss.

"I hope you don't mind the interruption but I baked you something~"

I imagine her stuff looks like this, pretty much imagine something incredible and very unlike-me in the kitchen, okay

Since the re-branding and Jade's shift in her role within the company, Chase had been spending a fair amount of time in and out of the office. It was that time of year when things got busier and large transitions, like the ones happening with Argent Industries™, took up a lot of time and resources. Chase Black was a man who could create his own schedule as he cared to, but the number of responsibilities he had to attend to were mounting.

Which was exactly why one Miss Queenie Powers happened to find him in his excessively large office on that day.

A stack of papers and folders were neatly piled on one side and he was in the process of writing on some paper in front of him when someone stepped into his office. Without permission no less. His gaze lifted sharply, the edges of his mouth twisted downward in an unimpressed frown.

"I don't take unscheduled meetings Miss Powers," he responded, barely giving her another glance before he returned his attention to the work he had yet to finish. "You may leave it on the desk," he added, an afterthought, complete with a dismissive wave of his hand.

The inside of her cheek received a sharp bite as he practically glared at her, offering a curt, almost dismissive comment before returning to his work. It made sense - he was a busy man, so as a busy man, he didn't give two shakes of a lamb's tail when an insignificant individual made their way into his office. No man became rich by dallying - he just simply didn't know that she wasn't insignificant yet and how much of a wonderful impact she was going to make in his life.

It did tickle her to know that he'd remembered her name - always a good sign, in her book.

"That's good to know for future reference, sir," she replied casually, heels not missing a beat as she sashayed her way further into the office. His view was spectacular, a view she wouldn't mind enjoying with future visits. "But since this is a greeting and not a meeting, I'm glad to know that I'm not disturbing you."

The basket of tarts was carefully set on the corner of the large desk, which she noticed lacked personal accessories. No pictures of loved ones, no little trinkets or knick-knacks cluttering the pristine, expensive looking furniture. Meant less competition for his attention - also another good sign.

"I wanted to thank you for the opportunity you've given both Miss Ellis and I with our employment. I know that you and her go back, from what she's told me, but I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here and only hope to become more of an asset to the company as time passes."

Without asking for permission, she boldly made her way around to the other side of the desk and lifted up on her heels, sliding her bottom onto the edge of the desk. Enough so that one leg easily rose to cross over the other, exposing her flawless looking skin as her heel bounced gently.

"If there's anything at all that I can do for you, sir, please don't hesitate to let me know."

His attention had returned to his work, Chase fully expecting the girl to set the tarts down and to leave. She set the tarts down, but she did not leave and that had him lifting his head, a trace of irritation crinkling his brow when he looked at her.

She was confident thing, ill-placed and unwanted after he had made it clear that she was expected to leave.

"Suri would disapprove of you attempting to thank me for anything I have 'given' to either of you." His gaze leveled when he looked at her. "She doesn't need anyone to be her mouthpiece." He made a mental note to address her subordinates blatant respect for commands and dismissals.

"I'm very busy, does this coyness have a point?" Chase didn't bother to beat around the bush. Queenie wanted something and apparently would not leave until she got it.

He would entertain her disobedience once.

"I'm not a patient man, Miss Powers."

This wasn't working.

It was a disheartening fact that Queenie was having difficulty swallowing. She had skill and beauty on her side but apparently her ability to read other people had failed her when it came to the elusive, mysterious Mr. Black and that little tidbit had her blood starting to boil.

He was snappy, he was curt and he looked about ready to call security and have her thrown out of his office. Which, aside from being highly embarrassing, would be an absolute impossibility to explain to Miss Ellis, once she found out. And while she fantasized about her goals within the company, she couldn't sacrifice the opportunity she'd been given with this job offer, not like this, not this soon.

Cheeks lit up against her wishes, blossoming a dark shade of pink as she slid off from his desk.

"My apologies, sir. I assumed a man of your position would be interested in some stress relief but it appears I was wrong."

Tense was an understatement; the agitation exuding off of his handsome self almost palpable enough for her to cut with the sharp point of her heel... which was quickly finding its way down onto the carpet of his office as Queenie made her way off the desk.

"Have a good day, Mister Black."

The disappointment clung to her voice as she turned to leave but Queenie held her chin high. She was relentless - she wasn't going to give up. She would simply have to retreat and devise a secondary plan of attack after doing more research on the humorless tycoon.

He would appreciate a few things about Miss Powers. Her tenacity, for example, because she thought she knew what he might want and knew how to try and manipulate it in her favor. Her apparent skills in the kitchen, if she did make the treat herself.

He thought she could learn some discipline. He made a note to speak with Suri about her insubordination, but that was for later.

Chase's gaze lifted and he contemplated his choices. He could let her walk out now, with her tail tucked between her legs or he could do something else. It had been a while since he'd had to reprimand anyone.

He didn't like doing so, because he had high expectations but...

"There are a few things you need to learn Miss Powers," he said, in a tone that implied stop. "You are never in charge and your wants come secondary." The pen was set down and his chair pushed back. "I won't tolerate the behavior you displayed today, this is your only warning." If she looked at him, she'd see a sharp-toothed smirk. "I am feeling generous today, do not expect it again. Now. Come here."

Shoes halted abruptly when he started speaking, a cold shiver racing down her spin as he verbally reprimanded her. It was bad enough to be dismissed as she had been, was he going to pour salt into the wound even after the fact? Or worse - was he going to fire her for her insubordination?

When she heard the creak of his chair being moved, her head turned and curious eyes found themselves immediately honing in to see what the Big Boss was up to. His words continued to chastise her, the threat behind his words not subtle in the least.

She swallowed hard, ready to pick up her pace with her figurative tail still tucked tighter between her legs when he suddenly smiled and the shiver returned. It was a wicked grin, not one she'd seen him exchange with partners or business associates. It spoke silently of trouble and yet when he issued the command for her to come, legs wobbled to a quick turn and made their way back towards his desk.

This time, instead of brazenly taking advantage of her height compared to his and the available desk next to her, hands modestly clung to one another behind her back as she lifted her chin.

"Sir?"

wrap us up, boo

His index finger hooked beneath her chin when she tipped it upwards, crowding her space with the expectation she'd stay in place. "Did I say you could talk?" His head dipped and he was close enough that she'd feel his breath on her lips when he said, "When I want you to speak, I'll tell you."

He waited for her affirmation before he kissed her, his other hand gripping her hip and tugging her more flushly against him.

Queenie would be getting what she wanted, but on his terms and conditions.

The woman, however, didn't seem to mind.
