He did not feel any different.
Well, that wasn't entirely true. Hermes felt markedly less satisfied with his life and more than a little annoyed that he had been stuffed into this role as apparent reincarnated god without his knowledge or his say-so, and lacking in the proper education and guidance to do well at it.
But overall - he didn't feel any different.
He knew he was supposed to. That was what happened when you were pushed up a level, or so the cat that had found him had said. He was not a basic anymore, he was a super, whatever that meant - also known as not much at all.
So he wandered, because he had nothing better to do, and apparently this was what he was supposed to be doing.
It was not encouraging.

Nereid didn't have the same thoughts as Hermes, but she could feel the new level up on him, as she spotted him from above the way.
Her teammate had levelled up! What a grand occasion!
"HERMESSSSSSSSSSSS" The girl dropped down on the male senshi, arms flinging out to capture him in a hug.
"You've levelled up! I'm so proud of you!!" She waited, "WHAT sort of rewards did you get?"

He felt the power signature a split second before he felt the actual owner of said power signature come barreling down onto him from behind. Hermes staggered forward with an ungainly sort of wobbling squawk, trying to untangle Nereid's arms from around his neck. He didn't even have to look to know who she was.
"What do you mean - ouch - rewards?"
Hermes was, to say the least, unsuccessful in his attempts at not being strangled. He tried in vain to pry Nereid away, feeling his hair flutter over his face in the process.
"And yes I am - whatever you call it - a Super now? What an unremarkable term. Will you let go of me now?"

Nereid didn't mind him trying to get away from her. Joke was on him, she had suction cup fingers and a bear like grip. It was even worst when she was a sailor senshi.
AND she could trap him in her waterfall barrier if he did try to escape.
Greedy fingers moved over his uniform to check it out and she smiled. "Nope!" Sounds followed in lots of hums and haws and what not before she started to pull at the many laces as her fingers could.
"You've laced up too, It's like unwrapping a puzzle prize. Did you get a new attack? How's it feel to be a super? Are you ready for adventures?" Nereid beamed a smile up at him. "I'm so glad my favorite teammate levelled up! Now we should work on our support levels!"

The bad thing about having Nereid as a teammate was that Hermes couldn't even remember agreeing to join her team in the first place, and also he couldn't quite recall ever agreeing to even be her friend in the first place, and yet somehow both of these things were true, anyway.
It was a confusing conundrum. Hermes swatted at Nereid's roaming hands, a look of outrage overtaking his pale face.
"Stop that. And I suppose I did, is that what I'm supposed to get? I can make my dopplegangers a bit more solid now, and no, I'm not ready for adventures, when have I ever been ready for adventures, I told you - " Hermes smacked at her hands again in what was rapidly becoming a fruitless gesture.
" - since when am I your teammate?"

Nereid was well through a third lace at the first hand swatting, in which return, she batted his hands. "Stop that, I'm busy." She giggled and then swatted his hand again when he tried again. "Will you stop being such a ninny, Hermes, let me just see what happens when I unlace a couple..." By a couple now, she meant like 5 or 6, and she was working on her 7th one.
"That's pretty cool! you should show me! I could practice my waterfall on them." She stilled her hands when he asked when he became her teammate and like the beautiful sunshine that shone during the day, her smile turned up to him at full wattage.
"Since the day we met!" Duh. "I was just waiting for you to be ready for adventures but now you are! After all you levelled up and and gained exp and now you have new skills and armor! We are now perfect for taking on an enemy fortress!" She quickly unlace all the way down to his waist.
"Whew! There is so many!" She stood back to look at her work....."Too bad I can't do that cartoon unwrap!"

In response to her batting at his hands, Hermes slapped at her fingers. Not hard enough to be outright rude, or even painful, because, well...his hands were worth more than anything ever was in this world, save for his violin. But enough to try and get the stop touching me message across.
"Busy doing what?" he said, and then gave her an outraged look. "I am not being a ninny, you - "
Except he couldn't think of a good enough word. Especially because Nereid was still tugging at laces with more nimble fingers than Hermes would have given her credit for. "You want me to practice my magic on you?" Hes said blankly, momentarily distracted from his attempts at getting her to quit what she was doing. "Why would I do that? Aren't we on the same side of things? That doesn't seem to make any sense."
Hermes gave her a suspicious look, trying to figure out what she was talking about. She gave him the same impression that infernal cat had when he'd first awakened; as though she was telling him something that he probably should have known, and didn't.
"Stop that!" He was rapidly becoming undressed, Hermes hastily tugging at laces, trying to do them back up again.

"Busy exploring your lacey uniform. So spicy, my friend!" She giggled again and then laughed at his refusal of the name. "You sort of are, just a little." She laughed again.
"Sure why not? It's good to know what your teammates skills are and how they'll match up with yours in a battle! Plus if we get more teammates, we gotta know their magic too with ours!" She was almost done with the chest part of his laces when he tried to dress himself back up.
It was almost comical and she would've felt bad, but for some reason, seeing Hermes all flustered up was far more amusing then she liked to admit.
"I can't, once I started, its hard to stop....." She moved to his arm instead, "Why doesn't it make sense to use magic on each other? Its called friendly fire."

"Spicy - " He was having a hard time combating Nereid with vocally and physically, his hands still attempting to get rid of hers, which was making him feel a little flustered, words not quite connecting. For someone who was a very succinct, blunt sort of person, Hermes was not making leeway with the other senshi in the slightest.
"I'm still trying to figure out when I agreed to be your teammate," he said, and now the front of his uniform was undone almost all the way to his waist. How on earth had she managed to do that so fast? Hermes was almost entirely certain that if he'd been the one undoing the laces, he would have taken a lot longer and done it with a lot more care.
That was beside the point. He was missing the point.
Hermes tried to gather up all of the undone laces with the fingers of his free hand, forgetting that his other arm was loose and at Nereid's mercy. "Possibly," he agreed grudgingly, "But that generally turns out badly, and I'm not a fan of being injured."

"Yeah, S p i c y." She grinned as he repeated it and loved that he was just so flustered up and everything, such a fun teammate to mess with! "A long time ago, you just seemed to be forgetful because its been so long." She laughed as he started to try to retain form after being so EXPOSED.
She was already making moves on the arm part of his uniform and she made a humming sound.
"But then you don't know if it'll help you in a pinch or not. You gotta take hits to be able to dish out hits."
She stopped mid-arm though and looked up at the blonde. "If you don't like getting hurt, then why do you power up?"

He still didn't understand the term spicy. It seemed more applicable to food, and especially food that Hermes didn't like, which didn't entirely make sense, but he also wasn't going to actually bother to make the effort to Google it because what was the point of that?
And also because his cell phone was currently tucked away in the depths of his boot to keep it from getting lost while on patrol. Hermes was still trying in vain to gather up all of the messy laces spilling out from in front of him, finally managing to pull his other arm free, only to discover that ninety percent of those laces were now undone too.
His frown was probably a very familiar thing by now. Hermes stared at Nereid, his golden brows drawn together.
After a long moment, he said with as much dignity as possible,
"Because I was told this is what reincarnated gods do."

In return, Nereid smiled with all the power of the stars and suns and moons in the sky.
His frown could be turned upside down! She continued to smile at him even at his comment and then her head turned.
"I'm sorry." She cocked her head, "reincarnated gods?" She stopped unlacing him because she was more curious about his comment.
"I didn't realize that we were gods." She paused, "Gods go to battle too though, there was a huge war over it."

Unfortunately for Nereid, Hermes' was immune to such smiles.
Mostly.
Almost.
He did, however, scowl at her further, because there was no actual reason for her to be looking at him this way, and no actual explanation for why she was beaming at him so brightly, and it was catching him slightly off guard in a way he couldn't quite explain.
Which only made him scowl deeper.
"You're not," said Hermes. "At least, not that I know of. But my senshi name is Hermes, isn't it? And that's what I was told by that flea - by the cat that found me after I awoke. What sense would it make otherwise to have this name?"
She'd at least stopped trying to get him naked in the middle of the street.

"I'm not? Who says?" She waited, "You do know that the name Nereid is derived from the greek children of gods, also known as Nymphs?" She smirked at him.
"So a cat told you that you were a god, and you believed him, but didn't do any research into all the other types of gods?"
She waited.
"What kind of god was Hermes, and what kind of god does that make you?" She new who Hermes was, she just wanted to hear it from Hermes point of view.
Plus she wasn't undressing him now.
"Also who was the cat?" She'd love to meet the cat that told him. She wondered if it was one of the troll cats.

She had a point. He ignored said point.
"It's not a specific name of a god or goddess, though," Hermes said delicately. "Hermes is a pretty well known name, isn't it? That's how it goes. In my former life, I was apparently some sort of god, and I went by the name of Hermes, and - "
Nereid was still looking at him expectantly. Hermes felt a twinge of pink across his cheeks.
"Why are you questioning this?" he said, somewhat defensively. "This is what I was told, and it's what my name is, so it must be true, isn't it?"
He felt weirdly exposed, somehow. As though she was able to see straight through him - or maybe that was just the fact that she'd attempted to untie half of his laces and he was still in need of fixing them back up again, sleeves trailing.
"It's name was Bob, I believe," said Hermes stiffly. "Why does that make a difference?"
