Always one to enjoy finely crafted armor and weapons, Camlann had been quite pleased with the array of products the Forgemaster offered his custom. Though he had little interest in purchasing any such finery for himself, quite content with the armor he already adorned, he knew a few usdia friends that would be interested in a set of armor for themselves. When he inquired as to how he could attain such armor, Camlann hadn't batted an eye at the request. It seemed like a fair trade, complete a task to earn a reward and trade that reward in for the armor. It seemed of little loss to either party that participated, and the challenged that the Forgemaster offered would bring tales of heroics to those seeking them, and others the opportunity to test their mettle, as Camlann wished to.
Somehow, along the way, he had acquired a humming bird familiar that was intent on hanging around so he could witness a "knight in action" or something as equally ridiculous. Either way, the bird wasn't usually one to be in the way and did offer Camlann the resource of someone to scout ahead if it was needed.
For the moment, Camlann was prepping for the challenge that had been laid out before him. He was glad the Forgemaster was also generous enough to offer provisions for the tasks he dealt out, although Camlann had enough battle experience to know this feat would require more than one body to handle it properly. There were other's at The Forge, browsing the Forgemaster's wares and other's had already gone off to tackle some of the easier errands. Camlann looked about those that were in The Forge to see who would make a fine additon to his party, and his eyes settled on a fair looking mare accompanied by a bird of her own. "Come, Polaris. We must seek addition numbers to properly bolster our forces."
"You aren't going to go straight for it? I thought knights were always trying to show their bravery by facing challenges on their own." Polaris flitted beside the stallion, confusion clear in his voice.
"Again, as I've said many times before, I'm more so a mercenary than a knight, and charging head-first in a situation like this is more than foolish." He sighed tiredly, wondering when this "companion" of his would tire of his company. Camlann could only hope sooner rather than later.
"Hail," he greeted the mare draped in all manners of finery. "Would you perhaps be interested in any of the Forgemaster's creations? Perhaps we could work together to achieve our goals," the tone in his voice was amicable, and although his armor blocked it from sight, there was a slight smile on his face. Camlann did his best to not seem as intimidating as he had been told he came across. Although he was usually more of a solitary figure, he had been exposed to so many soquili during his travels, working with other was starting to feel... nice.

The wind was cool on her skin, she could hear the whisper of it through the trees. She'd been intrigued by this forgemaster. His armor and weapons were some of the finely crafted she'd ever seen. Normally, she would not care for armor or weapons, but Kaitombo hadn't shown up at their meeting.
She could feel that something was wrong. It wasn't any tangible feeling, but something creeping and lurking under the skin. The trees seemed to whisper ominously to her. Her best bet would be to go amongst those trees and listen. But the longer that he didn't show up made her more than certain that she would need that armor and a weapon to go look for him.
Santiel fluttered near her ear, it's wings flapping made the sound like a heartbeat. "We will find him," the little green bird said. She was doing her best to keep Orelond hopeful, but even she knew that Kaitombo would never have missed their meeting.
She couldn't say for sure but it seemed possible that he had been there and then had gone. He would not have left willingly if so. But was it his hoofprints or those of another that had used the same place to meet?
Someone spoke and Orelond tore her mind away from her thoughts and looked at him for a moment just blinking.
"Merry meet." She bowed her head to him slightly. "I would like that. I do not know these woods well enough to go alone. I would be thrilled to accompany you on this journey."
She breathed out evenly, "I seek enough coin for a weapon, but I'm not sure which as I have never used one. Perhaps, I will learn on the way." She smiled at him and motioned her head to some others near by.
"More the merrier?"

"The more the merrier indeed," he gave a quick nod in affirmation to Orelond. This was going to be a quest that would go much more smoothly with more bodies to tackle it. Camlann had no interest in suffering any terrible battle wounds for this journey, though he was certain a few scar would be the result of the battle based on the importance the Forgemaster was giving it. Hopefully, whatever group they managed to form, would be able to return Death's Queen to her former self without too much of a fight.
Eventually they picked up a stallion named Helianthus and his familiar, Ra, for their party. Camlann was quite please to see the sharp claws on Helianthus, as they would no doubt be of use later should the fray they were setting off for require them. Though the stallion didn't seem particularly inclined for battle as Camlann was, he was sure that Helianthus could hold his own if necessary and would make a fine addition to the party.
"We can only pray that the tide of battle is in our favor. Nothing is decided on the battlefield until the battle ends. For now, we must steel ourselves and prepare for whatever we might face.
"The Forgemaster is preparing supplies for us. We should take the time to come up with tactics to be better prepared for the task at hoof."
Polaris stayed in the air next to Camlann, regarding the other companions they had picked up curiously. The group seemed like an odd mix, but they would probably do fine working together. Though they all seemed a bit serious for his tastes. As someone who had never experienced a true conflict or really ever witnessed a fight to protect ones' own life, Polaris could only wonder how terrible the monstrosity they were going to face was. The hummingbird didn't anticipate them to be lively and excited for the Forgemaster's task, but a little bit of enthusiasm would certainly be a nice break from the somber atmosphere he felt weighing over them. Everyone was being so ho-hum!
The humming bird let out a heavy sigh to himself. When he had crossed paths with Camlann, who looked so cool in his armor, Polaris had tagged along expecting great adventures and exploits, but everything with Camlann seemed so serious all the time. The quest they were about to go on was probably the most excitement he had experienced in his company with the stallion thus far, and Camlann was making it sooooo boring. But, just as Polaris was about to give up any hope of there being any fun on their adventure, another stallion approached them with a grandiose bow and a wide grin. Now he seemed like fun just from his introduction! More fun than Camlann, that was definitely certain.
"Oh yes, absolutely," Polaris pipped up, eagerness clear in his voice. He turned to look at Camlann, an obvious twinkle in his blue gaze. "The more the merrier, right, Cam?"
The draft's brow twitched in irritation at the nickname the bird had bestowed him, though he otherwise ignored it and looked towards the stallion that approached their group. He gave a quick nod of his head in approval. "I see no reason to keep you from joining." Camlann looked towards his other comrades, wishing for their input on the matter. "What say you? It would certainly be advantageous for us."

She had heard the legends of course. Death's Queen they called her. Her name had long since been forgotten to history. She had once been lovely, as fair as morning but she had been corrupted by her greed, her very own choices. What she had become now was something far worse than death, an unholy state of being.
"I think we will need all the help we get," Orelond spoke softly. "She has lost sight of all that she once was and we cannot risk going against her alone. I hope we can sway her, save her...but she might be beyond that. Her heart and ears might be closed to anything we say."
She was eager to go, not wanting to meet their adversary after dark. Things always so much crueler, wilder, or terrifying at dark.
Santiel flitted about gently, her body in a steady hum as she moved. This had been a legend that Orelond had grown up on. It was strange to think of coming face to face with a legend, a myth.

Camlann agreed that rushing in without any sort of plan would be foolish. Battle tactics were of great import, especially when facing a a foe that posed true threat. No threat should be under estimated, but when the chances of great harm were high, it was better to be careful than sorry. The draft hummed in thought, debating possible choices over before voicing a potentially viable one to the others. They had several flying familiars between them, which would be useful for scouting, and Camlann was well versed in combat.
"Polaris and I will go ahead. If we're lucky she won't realize that we've come with others and will be too focused on fighting just the two of us." He looked about the other members of his party. "We can send several of our winged companions to scout ahead. Hopefully they'll be able to find a blind spot for the rest of you to attack from. A surprise attack could be beneficial and give us an early advantage if we catch her off guard."
"We're doing what?" Polaris squeaked incredulously. He hadn't expected to be involved in the fights that Camlann got in to when he had tagged along! He flinched at the stern gaze Camlann set upon him, quickly quieting down. With a heavy sigh, Polaris contented himself to his fate, even if he wasn't a fan of it.
With a nod of his head, Camlann pushed ahead, trusting the others to follow the plan or adapt should the need arise. He approached the twisted mare, sword drawn. Even though the battle hadn't even begun, he already felt sapped of his strength. His brows furrowed in concern. This fight would be a true challenge. With a grunt, the stallion charged forth, swinging his blade and deftly striking the mare with its edge.
