Yule stared at the stones uncertainly. He… was curious. Always had been curious. If he imbued and awakened them now, they would be hallowed. Discriminated against. Cast out by society, possibly. Yule knew all of these factors. But… the compassion and sympathy, even the logic and reasoning to not awaken the stones right now, was absent. He had been casted out. Perhaps not by the academy or society in general but by his family. A morbid curiosity lingered in him at the idea of how these freshlings would thrive. Would they be like him and lose their voice? Or would they strive to integrate into the world, refuse to be beaten down. There were differences, of course. He was only a hybrid and cast out by his elven family due to a misunderstood and misled love. The children would be hallows, mutated and looked down upon only because of his curiosity. He didn’t have parents to look after him. They would at least have him. There were minor differences, definitely not enough for Yule to reconsider. Still wanting to satisfy his thoughts, he stroked the stones.
But… he couldn’t do this alone. Not with his genetics only. It felt too… dirty. And although he lacked sympathy for the life these stones will have to live, he wasn’t willing to carry the burden all on his own. The other party didn’t have to be present. Just loan the magic needed. Just share the consciousness of what they did.
And he knew just the person to recruit.
