Quote: As Halloween draws near, a good number of the shops at the local mall have decided to take part in the festivities by handing out candy bars and bite-sized goodies to all of the customers who stop by. You score a fair amount of sweets while you're out and about. After you consume a handful of them, though, you discover you don't feel.. quite right. You can't put your finger on why you don't feel right but soon the side effects from your candy munching come to light. When you sweat, your perspiration is noticeably brown and smells sickeningly sweet... almost like chocolate. In fact, your natural scent has seemed to take on a more sweet approach, as if you were a walking candy bar yourself. You've got no clue which shop handed out the cursed candy but the saccharine effect on you lasts for an entire day, until the candy has made it out of your system. It wasn't often that Genevieve babysat but when she did it was always for the same child - Irina. As much as she'd wanted to turn down baysitting her today, she was far too irritable to deal with a child, she hadn't been able to. So instead Genevieve had decided on, what she thought, was an easy way to approach babysitting given her mood. She went with taking Irina to the mall to do some early trick or treating. The stores were, ahead of the holiday, giving out candy to children and such.
That was the idea she had presented to the parents and to Irina in the hopes it would be acceptable - and it was. That was good, really good, because she didn't think she could handle much else. She had already snapped at two people prior to the little one arriving and once they'd gotten to the mall she'd managed to glare down a few people without Irina noticing - thankfully. She was trying, and sort of managing, to not seem like she was upset, irritated, and just never all not her usual self. She didn't want to let on to the fact that something was going on with her, not today anyway.

“Oh- oh, Genevive! Look!” Irina tugged on the hem of her babysitters shirt while pointing excitedly at a girl wearing a seemingly simple plain black dress. “I know where she’s from! She’s Mavis, from Hotel Transylvania.” While she hadn’t powered up in a long time she did find it kind of cool that she shared the same name as the movie; not that she’d ever tell anyone. Perhaps that was the reason she loved halloween so much. Too bad her magic dealt with garlic instead of something cool like vampire or werewolves; now that would be totally wicked and worth dressing up as. Oh well, you work with what you got and she had plans to have fun with her little stink bombs real soon; this was the time for mischief afterall. “Can we go over there?” She asked, excitedly pointing to a small line forming a few stores down from where they were at. It was a Bed Bath and Body Works shop. Horribly smelly with that perfume scene but it looked like they had a few games out for kids to play which she definitely wanted to try!

"We can go but be mindful of others." She said slowly, trying to keep her calm. She wasn't fond of the idea, figuring her temper more than likely would snap when dealing with parents, elder siblings, and babysitters. But Irina wanted to go over and so they would, for now. She dared any worker to get in her face or try and sell her anything...she would glare them down. She wasn't a fan of the shop normally speaking, the smells too...annoying and she thought she had better taste than their store, so to have someone try and get her to spend money would bother her - greatly. She was not in the best of moods lately and she knew it. She was just hoping her temper held...she needed it to.
"Why don't you go ahead of me and get in line." She'd keep an eye on the other, that was for certain, but she really didn't want to get too close to everyone else.
She hadn't see the movie the other had mentioned but she'd seen the commercials...so she knew the dress. She hadn't known the characters name though. She did, not for the first time this year or first time period, wonder what it would be like seeing kids dressed as vampires...given she was the senshi of vampires. It had been interesting the first Halloween...strange in a way. She knew what a vampire looked like, not that she was far off the mark really...but she wasn't some sexed up vampire either. Oh well...to each their own? Though she really wouldn't be pleased seeing sexy vampires at her door this year.

“Kay!” In a bout of excitement, Irina ran ahead weaving through the crowd while dodging props and fairy wings threatening to get caught in her hair as she passed by. The scarf around her neck was kind of long and uncomfortably warm while inside, but without it her costume really didn’t make much sense. The outfit she wore was simple enough to make; it just required the use of her older sister's graduation gown and some creativity; thankfully her mother was well versed in that department. While Irina could have literally chosen anything, her love of magic and fantasy had drawn her to picking a ravenclaw outfit from Harry Potter. The best part about it, however, was that they had found a tutorial online that, with the use of chopsticks and a hot glue gun, taught them step-by-step how to make their own wand. Sure it looks a bit sloppy close up but Irina didn’t care one but, it was fun making and that was all that mattered. Once she found her place in line, Irina turned around to make sure she could still see Genevieve. Over the past year, the need for her to come watch Irina had slowed down significantly with the exception of special occasions mostly due to the fact that she was now fourteen, a bit old to need a babysitter. But her parents had made plans to go to an adult-only Halloween party this evening and her older sister had bailed. So here they were, probably for the last time which is why the pre-teen was trying to make the best of it despite Genevieve's reluctant attitude.

Cringing as the small girl seemed to only just avoid getting hit by a wing here, and a prop there, Genevieve wanted to shout at those parents about the props. She could, sort of, understand the wings but those props got in the damn way and were dangerous!
Watching the little witch move through the crowd Genevieve started to do the same. Weaving her way around people she kept as close as she could to the little Hogwarts student. It was cute, she'd admit, the outfit worked well on the little girl. Keeping close, without being online, Genevieve stood watching and almost growled when some rambunctious child almost ran right into her charge.
"Someone should really keep some of these kids a bit more in line." Or on a leash she thought. But she knew it was the lack of sleep talking...it had to be, she was never like this. This was also likely one of the last times, if not the last time, she'd be called to babysit for Irina...and she should be doing better right now...being closer to the little girl. But damn it....the lack of sleep had been hitting her hard, harder than it ever had.

From where she stood, Irina waved at Genevive then turned back around once the line moved again. It was pretty short, only about five other kids stood in front of her and as she neared the front she tried to listen in on how the game was played. On the cloth covered table there was what looked to be something like a witches set up; a cauldron with fog rolling over the lip as if something inside it were brewing. Next to it was a black box with what looked like potions sitting on top. The game, as it was explained, was to identify the scents of each potion. If you got them all right then they would give you get a treat. However, if you get it wrong you have to reach into the cauldron for a different kind of surprise. The woman behind the display cackled while rubbing her hands together. It sounded simple enough and as far as Irina could tell nobody had guessed wrong which made her hopeful for when it came her turn. When she finally stepped up to the table, the witch on the other side handed her a set of ten flashcards and gave her the instructions to match each card with the right potion. She was not to say any outloud or they would make her eat a worm. Eww. If Irina could match at least four then she could get a small candy bar, if she got six then she would get a regular sized treat, however, if she managed to get them all right then they would give her a king sized reward. Irina’s eyes grew to the size of golfballs at the chance to win something big and so she accepted the challenge. Once by one she took a whiff of each bottle then searched through the cards for the proper picture; hanging them to the woman when she was sure it was right. Pepermint, Cinnamon, Apple Pie and Oranges were all simple but from there it got increasingly difficult. Vanilla was a little bit harder to figure out because she had been looking for a card with a picture of icecream on it. Thankfully she had guessed right when she handed the little white flower to the cackling witch that seemed oddly amused that she was struggling. In the end Irina finally gave up and set the remaining four cards on the table. “I don’t know” she finally admitted defeat and in turn accepted the regular sized candy bar as her reward. “Thank you!” Excited that she had at least won something the young Hogwarts student ran back over to Genevieve. “Can we eat it now?” She asked while holding out the kitkat bar for her babysitter to open so they could split it.

Listening to the instructions of the game Genevieve was rather surprised. It wasn't such a simple game, if they picked less easy to guess cents. it could be really tricky and that was good...it felt proper. Something too easy, where all the scents were easy to pick, would feel too simple and childish. But watching as Irina got several right, before giving up, Genevieve reached down to pet the girls hair gently.
"You did well." Better than the next kid who wasn't sure on the flower, which she noticed was vanilla. "Do you know what the other choices were?" She asked, already taking the offered candy bar to open for Irnia. Handing it back gently, she was at the moment a bit less irritated, she was focused on being proud of Irnia and watching the next kid get the obvious ones right. "Difficult I see..." Thought she did wonder how difficult.
"Your prize was well earned." Very well earned it seemed. "And what's this about we eat? Are you offering to share?" She asked, a bit surprised, most liked to have their prizes to themselves...especially candy and such. She was surprised but also pleased - happy. When the time came to an end, for her baby sitting Irnia, she might have to find a reason to be around the younger....without seeming creepy to some as there was a rather large age gap. But she had spent years watching Irnia.

“Thank you!” with pure joy and excitement, Irina broke off one of the KitKat pieces and offered it to Genevive “Here you go!” she said with a mouthful as she began munching on the other chocolate coated wafer.
“Which shop should we go to next?” Looking up with those owlish green colored eyes she fell into step beside her sitter eagerly rocking back on her heels waiting for them to keep on going

“We can head to a clothing store or two - see what they have. Or perhaps somewhere less crowded, you can move through them and by the time we reach the crowded ones they should be less so.” Which was the hope for Genevieve, less noise making children to suffer. How their parents didn’t silence them was beyond her, they were too loud. She understood it was a holiday, and fun time, but some children were just too loud.
“We’ll make the rounds and get the most we can.”

“Yay, thank you!” In her excitement, Irina jogged over to the next shop and stood patiently in line. This went on for the next hour or so. Moving from one line to the next, playing games while earning more candy. Her bag was actually starting to take on some weight when she returned to Genevive’s side. “It’s almost full,” she commented, lifting her loot up for her babysitter to see. There was a thick scent of chocolate lingering in the air between them. However, with all the other kids around eating candy it was something that ultimately went ignored. It wasn’t like there was chocolate on her face on in her teeth when she smiled so if someone was at fault for gorging on sweets it wasn’t her. “I’m getting kinda tired. Can we go home?” Her question was followed by a stifled yawn. It was fun spending time like this, but it was getting late and Irina wanted to watch Hocus Pocus before going to bed tonight. Sleet Tempest Snape Feel free to wrap with your post.

"Of course, let's get you home. I'm starting to get a headache." From all the kids making so much noise, as well as parents yelling after their children. Why couldn't some of them get a leash for their kid? Seriously some of them were running, pushing others, and just tripping over their own feet. It was a mess and she wasn't a fan of it.
"We'll get you home and you can take a nap and then have some sweets if you want." And she might take a nap as well, thankfully the little ones mother wouldn't mind either.(I think we can end it here.)
