Quote: Your character(s) discovers the remains of a wall with a single window in the woods. What they see when they look through the window shocks them. Anleth sighed and stood up from her desk. She was feeling utterly out of inspiration lately, and she decided it was time for a walk into the woods. She had heard stories about things in these woods, but she had a lot of trouble believing any of them, honestly. It was just a forest, after all, right? Right. She just rolled her eyes at the idea that it might be MORE than that. Oh, sure, it made great fodder for the imagination, and she applauded the kids coming up with this stuff, but she was sure it was nonsense.
She walked out of her dorm room, and headed for the nearest portal, to go for a walk in a nicely wooded park she knew of. She sighed as she waited in line, but finally it was her turn. As she went to step through, she noticed the portal's color seemed a little strange for a moment, but she thought little of it. When she got out the other side, she was very confused to find things looked different... Had she gone to the wrong park?
For a moment, she thought about turning around and going back, because everything seemed wrong... But after a moment, she shrugged and decided to move forwards, after all. If it was a different park, well, at least she would get a lot more new inspiration for her drawings. She headed down the path, not really noticing the fact that this wooded area was rather more dense than the one she was used to, and it was, consequently, much darker. She just kept on going, looking for something that would catch her inspiration.

Ugh. Ugh! And UGH once again! Soule just didn't want to do anything tonight. There was a horror movie marathon on and he would have much rather been watching that, but his roommates kicked him out because they were having a party, and Soule wasn't interested in that either. They didn't want him to be a lump on the couch all day so he could either join the party or leave. He begrudgingly left. The vibrantly yellow fallen wandered aimlessly. He took a couple portals going here and there, but wasn't really interested in the different activities going on. He liked going to the festivals when he was little, but they sort of lost their charm in recent years. Maybe he was just too old for this. He turned from his usual haunts and walked away, out of town, towards a quiet wooded area. He could catch a few Zs while he was out here at least. Or that's what he though. As he walked, he heard footsteps. Great. Someone was here. Probably going to play pranks on unwitting freshlings that came around, right? He sighed dramatically and watched a blue figure appear through the line of trees.

She blinked, surprised, when she came through a tree line and found a... Very bright looking stranger standing in front of her. She tilted her head as she looked at them, approaching with quiet caution... They did not SEEM to be dangerous, but a girl never knew for sure, and so she stayed just slightly out of reach, while still smiling in a friendly way, to keep things in a polite balance. "Hello, there. It's a quiet evening, isn't it?"
She kept half an eye on them, as she glanced around. "Are you familiar with these woods? I have not been in this particular area before, and was thinking of trying to find something picturesque to inspire me to draw. My artistic muse seems to have dried up for the night, and I have homework coming up due, soon. Do you happen to know of any particularly lovely spots?"
She paused, then, after looking the stranger over for a moment, added "Or perhaps you would consider allowing me to draw you, if I find a spot that is properly inspiring? You are most vibrant."

He hasn't expected there to be anyone here, honestly. "Gee, I thought everyone was gonna be partying or something tonight." He said, raising his arms behind his head in a carefree, but bored, fashion. "I guess the night's ok though. Good night to do nothing." He lowered his arms and shrugged. "But I can't say I know these woods. Never been here, thought it would be interesting for a while." Well no, that was a lie. He thought he could take a nap till his roommates' party was over. When she said she had homework, he raised a brow at her. "…you're not still at the academy, are you?" He bailed on school as soon as he graduated. "Draw me? It's a free world, you can if you want. I'm not that special." He was actually flattered, but he wouldn't let her know. He was a little vain, particularly about his hair and feathers. But even though he wouldn't outright say he was flattered, his wings did fluff up a little with pride. "I guess I could accompany you though. To help you find someplace to draw. You never know what losers are hanging around here to try a stupid jump scare like in all the scary movies lately. Man, that's not horror at all." He lamented, sort of lost in his own little world as he took a few steps deeper into the woods. "Oh." He suddenly thought of something. "I'm Soule."

Anleth found the way he spoke a little odd, to be honest, but she would not say so. It would probably be rude, after all, and she did not wish to be rude, especially not to a prospective model for her art. "Partying? No, it is the middle of the week. I have classes tomorrow, starting mid-morning. I would not wish to be late, because I do love my classes." She blinked, listening to him a little more. "Well, perhaps we can discover what is interesting together, yes?"
"The Academy? Oh no. I never attended the Academy. I went to lower level school in Above, and came here after. I attend Grendel University. I am a Traditional Arts student, so I have classes in drawing, painting, and the like. My personal favorite is drawing, but my inspiration was... Lacking this evening." She blinked a little, and smiled, if in a slightly confused way. "Well, it is still polite to have permission. And you are most vibrant, with your wings the color of the sun in Above, and your eyes and hair in accents that match. It is quite lovely, to be honest. I do like Below, but the sun is what I miss the most."
She smiled warmly at him, her green eyes glittering with gratitude at his willingness to accompany her. "That is most kind of you. I do not know what you mean, about scary movies and jump scares... I have not had much chance to watch movies, since I came to Below. University is very busy, you see." She sounded apologetic at that last part, because she did not wish to offend her potential model.
"Ah? I am Anleth. It is wonderful to meet you, Soule."

"No time for movies? Oh honey, that's sad. Movies are a form of art! Well, not a lot of the new stuff. That's crap. You should make time to watch something. I can give you a list of good movies later if you like." Well, that sounded like work, but dang. Someone who didn't watch movies? That was just sad. "So you draw, hm? Just in pencil? Or do you get fancy with like chalk and stuff?" He asked as they walked farther into the woods. "Closest I ever really got to art was in school doing leaf rubbings, or the bark on trees. One time I found an old grave stone and did a rubbing of that. Ooooh, I wonder if we can find like an old forgotten graveyard in the forest. Wouldn't that be cool?" He felt strangely… fired up now, wanting to find something old and forgotten; something spooky even. After all, it WAS Haunted Hallows. It would be the perfect time to find old things like that.

"I do see the occasional film, but... I spend much of my time either doing art, or going pearl diving." She flushed a little, embarrassed by this, wondering if she had done or said something socially awkward now. "That would be nice, though. Advice is always a good place to start."
She smiled at his question, and gave a soft chuckle. "Drawing is my preferred form of art, yes. I do take painting and other Traditional Arts classes... Pottery is fascinating. We don't really HAVE that, back home, you see, because clay doesn't exactly... do well under water. But yes, I work with pencils, pastels, chalks, ink... For something like this sort of trip, pencils are best, for the purpose of carrying it here and back. The best combination of strength and cleanliness."
Her head tilted at his suggestions, green eyes widening a little. "That might be very interesting indeed! It might be just what I need for my inspiration, too... I hope we find something of that nature." She gave him a bright, friendly smile at the idea.

Something has happened.... From the direction of the nearby woods, there's a soft melody. Haunting, chilling, and even a little bit sad, it continues until the two notice, then ceases.
