The Night drew on and on and on after Fettelite was thrown into the forest by his general. He didn't think to power down to re-equip his shoes and hat, nor did he think of calling anyone to help.
In his mind, he truly didn't feel like he had anyone to call.
For hours he wandered around the edge of the park, whispering apologizes to those who he had drained and trying his best to leave them comfortably on benches near one another, so they wouldn't be alone. Not once though could he pull a starseed as demanded by his general.
It only became worse when a particularly nasty Senshi chased him down, cursing and leaving a nasty burn on his cheek right before he managed to escape into the dark once again. While he couldn't bring himself to pull a starseed directly, he did manage to grab someone, a particularly mean gang member from what he could tell, and dragged them back to where his general had left him before to wait for pickup. This counted, right? A soul to squeeze out... Maybe he couldn't do it directly, but... It must still count!
Dawn came and went and the general still did not return to the woods where he abandoned the Lieutenant. He didn't respond to any message left behind on the tablet, nor did he seem to respond to a distress call either. No one did... No one came to get Fettelite, and he waited for hours for someone to come. He was beyond exhausted, draining small amounts of energy from the sleeping victim to keep him sleeping and to keep himself awake.
Could he call on the friend he made...? Would he even answer now...? It was worth a shot, especially since he couldn't think of someone else to call.
"Um... Hello Zinkenite... It's me, Fettelite... We met not too long ago... I um... I'm really sorry to bother you, I'm sorry for bothering you before too, but If you have some time, could you help me...? I just need a little bit of help, I'll even let you take this starseed thing I got, I just really, really want to go home to sleep. I'm still stuck here on Earth... Not in the open, promise! I'm hiding in the woods! But I can't get back home... If you get this, and come to get me, I'll owe you big time. But yes, um... Thanks. If you can't, that's okay too! I understand! I'll talk to you later then... Bye.."
There, with message sent, Fettelite slumped against the tree that hid him and his energy donor, too tired to stand anymore. He hoped upon hope that Zink would answer, or maybe his general would finally come. This time, however, he just couldn't smile anymore.

The call was unexpected, he had a moment where he couldn’t remember whom had his number anymore. Who was… oh, OH. Fettelite, the Lieutenant. It took him a moment to wake up, focus on what he was hearing. He’d missed the actual call, but the message left was slowly percolating in his brain. He cursed softly and headed out of the apartment. He wasn’t going to power up anywhere close to the building, at least not too close. He didn’t want them to be able to pin point the building by never teleporting from near it either. “Right… rescue the… lieutenant.” He muttered and rubbed his eyes. “Should be interesting.” He powered up as soon as he was sure there were no cameras, He took a deep breath and did something he hadn’t in, well, now its as years. He reached out, and brought Fettelite, to him.

Fettelite's eyes had closed for just a moment when he felt the pull he was all too used to. His own general used it time and time again for their meetings, or for when he was to be scolded and punished for one screw up or another. Fear sat heavy in his chest as he was pulled through space, in those few moments he thought for sure they might be his last.
It was not to be; instead of the cold, steely eyes of that awful general, he came face to -- kneecaps with swirled blue fabric. A moment passed and he finally registered what was going on, then threw his arms around Zinkenite's legs. Tears felt like they were about to fall as such sweet relief flooded every exhausted cell in his body.
"You came for me!! You did! You really did! No, wait, you didn't come, you brought me here, but that's okay, you still came, in a way, you helped me, saved me!" His voice was soft, yet still laced with that excitement he was known for. Had it not been for the fact that there was still an all too important task to take care of, he could have fell asleep right there, half clinging to the man in the soft sunlight of morning. He remained barefoot and bloodied, dried blood caking his arms and bare legs, and that vibrant, hot burn mark still leaving shriveled skin behind on his face, but he couldn't care less, not when he finally knew this whole ordeal was over.
"You came.. So that means I can go home! I just... I just need a little more help, please, please!" Fettel let go and looked behind him, where he thought he left the gang member that was to be the target of the star seed pulling.
Gone. He was gone, most likely left behind when Zink had pulled him from the woods... Whatever relief he felt before quickly turned back into dread and he covered his eyes, letting out a distressed sob.
"Noo... No he's gone!! I gotta go back! I gotta get the starseed to give my general!! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, but I gotta go back, I gotta, I gotta! Please.. Send me back, I can't go back home unless I got the starseed!"

Zink froze as arms clasped around his leg, even half expecting it from their last interaction he still wasn’t really prepared for it, and he was never prepared for people crying. I was just such an uncomfortable and strange thing to have people doing around him. “… Why… didn’t you…” He exhaled. “Where were you… we can go there.” He said quietly. It was tempting just to get one, and stuff it into the young man’s hand. He might yet, it wasn’t as common as it had been once, but it was still a skill he should probably learn. … “F… Fettelite. Where are your shoes.”

"Where was I... Where was I.. I can't remember! It was the woods, in the park, and I ran and ran and ran and I got so lost and I had no idea what to do, so I called you... He's probably gone now... I should have pulled it, but I couldn't, I couldn't!!" He tried as hard as he could to try to quiet his sobs, knowing that people were walking nearby and he could end up causing a scene. That didn't stop the tears though, and he only pressed his hands against his eyes harder, ashamed of his failures.
"My shoes... M-my shoes...." He bit his lip, remembering that his general had told him not to tell anyone about their deal or they'd both be in trouble. Fettel wanted to tell Zink every little thing he could; he didn't understand why but it really felt like Zink would help him! Yet he knew the general wasn't lying about punishments... About how the Negaverse could find out just how incompetent he was, and how he was already on thin ice because of his siblings' treachery.
After a moment, the exhaustion hit again hard and he sobbed again, uncovering his eyes to look up helplessly at the general king.
"I don't know..." It wasn't a lie, his general could have thrown them away. "I made someone angry, they threw me here after I took my shoes off... I didn't mean to make them angry, but then they told me they wouldn't take me home until I had a starseed, but I just couldn't kill someone like that! So... So I found a bad person and just drained them until they passed out and figured that was good enough, and when he came to get me, he'd take it himself. It counts, right? I-I thought it did, but he never came!! He never came back... I waited so long and he never came... I just want to go home, b-but if he found out I failed... I don't know what will happen!"

Zink rubbed his temple, pressing fingers close against his eye where a headache was starting to, not so gently, throb. “… Fettelite, two thing….” He took a breath and let it out, a slow exhale. “One, were you somewhere, that you could return to your civilian clothes, and back? Because, that would have brought your boots back.” “And… “ he cleared his throat, made a half smothered sound. “…. please, tell me, why couldn’t you take a star seed? You said you found a -bad- person. So… what exactly went wrong there?”

"I... I what...?" Oh... That was right, wasn't it? He could have simply powered down and powered back up again.. It felt like a stab to his gut, the realization that he just made his own suffering worse because he didn't remember some of the most basic things when it came to being a Lieutenant, and he hung his head in shame.
"... I didn't think about it.. I just panicked... I'm so sorry, Zink..." In that moment, he powered down right infront of the man, and now dressed in a worn down sweater, a simple pair of jeans and a pair of tennis shoes that had certainly seen better days. It didn't do much to help against the cold autumn wind, but atleast his feet weren't bare anymore. The thought to power back up again didn't even cross his mind.
"I'm sorry..." December muttered again, using the inside of his sweater to rub the teary streaks from his face. "They were bad but I've never had to pull a starseed... That kills them, doesn't it? I can't just kill a person! I can't, I tried and I can't, so my gen--- my friend would do it for me, but I made him mad and now he told me to do it on my own, and I know that's what I'm supposed to do on my own before but I just can't!"

“You… can.” He said firmly. “You don’t want to, there is a difference” His voice was stern but not unkind. “The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can become stronger.” He said shaking his head slightly. “Your general.” He said after a moment. “Has given you an order too, Sometimes, because we are in a war, these orders will not be pleasant. And either he’s telling you to do this, to make you stronger. Or he is telling you to do this because he knows you don’t want to. You’re going to have to make a choice, because sometimes you’ve got to do one thing, to protect yourself from another.” The statement was shadowed, some hint of a darker past in the General King’s eyes. “War, no matter how hard you try is going to leave a mark on you. No matter who protects you, or for how long. It will be a mark you took becoming stronger to defend those whom come after you, or it will be something unseen because you didn’t, and you couldn’t. Sometimes, it will be both, some twisted mark where you tried, and failed. But that choice is yours.” Kapoodles Sorry I think I went to left field here

As much as it hurt to admit it, Zink was right. He could takes the starseed. December had seen Yolane do it, same with his old general too. They took starseed after starseed, ones from people he knew, from his siblings, and they did so with ease!
Yet his heart wasn't as hardened... That image of his sister falling to the ground lifeless, and the starseed wasn't consumed or held to be used, no... It was crushed.
Could he truly bring himself to do that...? Slowly, after a long moment, he shook his head no.
"... Zink... If I can't, If I won't... Does that mean mine will be taken too...?" His voice was very soft, barely above a whisper as he moved his hands from his face to instead grip gently onto the front of the General King's Uniform. What more could he even do? For someone who tried so hard to be happy, to keep his chin up and not let anyone know just how terrified he was and how badly he was hurting, this finally bit was too much. Maybe it was time to give up.
"They took my brother's seed, and they crushed my sister's... Will they take mine too, because I just can't hurt someone like that... I won't.. I-I'll fight but I just.. To kill them...? Why...?"

He took a breath and squared his shoulders. “Yes. They could, they may… they may even turn you into a Youma, they obey orders. “ He said with no inflection in his voice. Fact, inarguable, inescapable fact. “And in case you think that being a Youma may be preferable… it is not. They loose all that makes them human, imagine that slipping through your fingers before you say “Can’t” and most especially before you say “Won’t”. He shook his head and then added firmly. “If you for a moment, start to think that running away to join order is better, remember for all that you have been asked to hurt this man, we are not the ones whom recruit Children. I will not do this for you. Make your choice, and be aware of the consequences.”

December had no choice here. There was no way he could escape this fate, and the longer he thought on it, the easier it was for tears to fall from his eyes and for that anguished sob to leave his lips once again.
He let go of Zink's robes, knowing he'd find no comfort there. What had he been hoping to hear? That this man would help him? That maybe they were friends and that they'd work together to find a different path?
From how it sounded like... That wasn't going to happen.
His brothers and sisters were right, in the end. He was useless. He couldn't do anything on his own, and depended way too heavily on other people in order to even function. It didn't matter how kind he was, or how good of a person he tried to be, if December was useless, then death probably was his only option...
The very idea that Order took children and made them fight didn't scare him like he thought it would. Atleast they could protect themselves. At least there was no blade held to their throats.
"I'm sorry, Zinkentite... You're right... There's no escaping this, is there? There's no happiness here, there's nothing... Nothing at all..." December had reluctantly made his choice, and once again donned his uniform, powering up and standing again on trembling legs.
"... I'll go speak to my general... If he wants to punish me for this... I suppose that's all that's really I can do, being who I am... I guess... I'll die tonight, huh?" A sad, pitiful laugh shook his already shaking shoulders, and he rubbed his eyes one last time.
"... I'm really, really sorry to have bugged you with this..." The apology itself was muttered, but he really meant it. "Could I trouble you with one last thing? Maybe... Take me back to the Negaverse? I can go see my General there when he shows up in the morning..."
