Fui Fui was sitting on a rock, kicking her feel in the water, watching her momma who was currently gathering quite the crowd. Her momma really was the most amazing person that she'd ever met! The way that she sung, how she could gather such a crowd, how she held them mesmerized like the sirens from the stories that her father had told her. She wanted to be just like her when she grew up. It was why Fui Fui found herself humming along with the song that her mother was singing, a look of delight on her face. She needed more practice with her singing, with her dancing, with being graceful in general, but one day she'd be just like her momma! One song ended, gaining applause from those gathering Fui Fui included, and soon enough another one started up. More people gathered, causing Fui Fui to have to shift a bit, swimming up a bit higher so she could an eye on the woman, not wanting to lose sight of her. The idea was a big scary, especially given how easily she got lost when on her own.

Liloa was out near the ocean with her mother today. Because of her mother's job, they were out to find new materials for clothes and maybe bring some back for jewelry. This was Liloa's first time seeing such a huge expanse of water. The land met the edge of this unending mass of blue water. It was beautiful. Back at home, the water was murky and mud colored and sometimes clear and blue, but here, it was like it was always blue and sparkly. Indeed the water sparkled in the sun. She happily ran towards the water as her mother started to talk with the locals. When she jumped in, she realized it was cool just like her home water, even if the sun was on it all the time.
As Liloa played in the waves, she noticed a crowd of people. She quickly ran over to her mother, and asked to see what was happening. Her mother quickly agreed, Liloa skipped on ahead with her mother in tow. Before they reached the crowd, Liloa heard a beautiful voice. Someone was singing! They were amazing as well. Liloa could feel herself being dragged into the notes and the music. She found herself trying to sing along, but realized she was not in tune or know the lyrics at all. Her mother just laughed at her attempts, but Liloa couldn't stop herself.

Fui Fui paused in her humming, turning when she heard someone else singing along with her mother in their own way. She glanced from side to side, seeking out the voice, and when she finally found it she couldn't help but to stare a bit. Wait, what in the world... who was that?! Her bright eyes went wide as she saw really strange girl that had pretty green eyes, dark hair, and odd little decorations on her face. What were those? Whiskers? Glancing at her momma for a moment she debated over things in her head before deciding that she was alright to go and peek at the other girl. So long as she could hear her mother singing then surely things would be alright, right? She couldn't be lost if she could still hear her momma. As such wandering just a little further away should be fine! Swimming hurriedly over to the girl that currently held her interest she said in an excited, chirping tone of voice, "Hello there! You're very neat looking! What are those things are your face?" Lifting a hand she set to poking one of the barbels the strange looking girl had in a curious manner.

There was danger! Someone had found her ticklish spot and was now poking at it. Liloa couldn't hold herself back and started giggling. "Stop poking my barbels please," she choked out between giggles. When the ticklish sensation did disappear, she looked at her attacker. Oh! She must be one of the dwellers of this area. Her mother had told her about them before their trip so she wouldn't be surprised. But in person, they were a lottt brighter than her mother had described. Before her was a child like herself, but she wasn't dark green, or green at all. She was tan, like the sand beneath their feet, and she had really pretty purple hair. No one in Liloa's village came close to looking like that. It almost seemed like Liloa was in another world.
"Hello, I'm Liloa," she said dutifully, just as her mother had taught her, "These are my barbels." Liloa pointed the the little whiskers that poked out of her face. "When you poke them, I get all ticklish," she explained. "They are really common in the swamp!" Liloa continued, "You have a really nice colored hair!"

"Barbels." Fui Fui said, giving a humming sound and then a happy smile. So that's what they were called, huh? It was a normal thing for those from the swamp the girl spoke of to have those then? She gave a curious sound before she asked, "So then everyone from the 'swamp' have barbels? What are they for? Just being ticklish?" That would be a strange reason for them to exist but who was she to judge? "Huh? Oh! Thank you! It's the color as my momma's hair." She sounded quite proud of that and she was, she was very happy to share such a pretty color of hair with her mother. Motioning to the side with one hand in an excited motion she said, "My momma is the one that's over there singing! Isn't she wonderful?" She really did love the woman and wanted everyone else to love her just as much.

"Oh, so barbelsare used for navigation in the swamp, since the water is so muddy. You can't see anything when you swim," Liloa explained, "The water isn't as pretty as this big lake." Liloa gestured towards the shoreline. She really loved the big expanse of beautiful blue water. She wished she could live in such a beautiful place, but she felt like she didn't quite belong in thid land of color and brightness. "Does everyone here have pretty hair like your's?" Liloa asked, "Also, what's your name?" Liloa was really excited to have someone to play with as her mother went on her errands.
"Your mother is an amazing singer!" Liloa exclaimed, "I wish I could sing like that but..." Liloa tried her best to sing, but it wasn't quite amazing. "I sound like this." Liloa wondered if this girl in front of her coukd sing as well as her mother.

Fui Fui nodded as the girl explained to her what barbels were needed for. It seemed as though they helped people to get around in muddy waters? Giving a bright smile she said, "Wow! That's amazing! Both what your barbels do and what your waters are like. I can't imagine that." Muddy waters. Here the worst it got was when someone kicked up the sand at the bottom of the water but that tended to clear up after a while. Giving a rapid nod at the question she said, "Oh, yes! Everyone's hair here comes in all sorts of bright, pretty colors." She'd seen all manner of pretty colors though never any colors like that of the girl in front of her. Smiling at the next question that was also sent her way she said, "My name is Fui Fui, what is your name?" She was rather curious about what her name was since she wanted to instantly declare this girl her new friend. As the dark haired girl said that her mother was an amazing singer and that she wished she could sing like that Fui Fui nodded in agreement. Giving a glance toward her mother she said, "I want to sing as good as her too! I am learning, though it's gonna take a bit to catch up I think." Giving a clap of her hands as her new friend tried to sing a few notes she said, "Don't worry! You just need some practice and you will do well I bet!"

"My name's Liloa!" she said. It seemed nice to have a new friend around. She seemed like she could be a singer like her mother one day. Liloa laughed at her comment about practice. It was probably true. She could use from practice with her voice. Currently her voice sounded a tad bit like monotone talking or when she would try to tune, it'd be some strange noises or strange tones.
"Hey, do you think you could teach me a bit?" Liloa asked, " I'm going to be here for a while." She gestured towards her mother, who looked very busy doing who knows what. Liloa opens her mouth and tries to sing along but it only comes out like "blah...blah? balhd" That...did not sound so good.

"It's very nice to meet you Liloa!" Fui Fui chirped in a happy, sing song sort of voice. The pretty girl seemed to be quite excited over the fact that she'd made a new friend. It was so very wonderful! She wanted to stick close to the girl and becomes great friends with her as long as she was in the area. Giving a smile she said, "Well, I can try! I am still practicing myself but it might be fun to sing together with someone myself. A lot less daunting for us both as well." It meant that they would be able to sing together instead of singing alone. It was better then having to sing along side her mother since it was a bit of a challenge. She loved singing with her but she wanted time to practice so that she could hope to keep up with the woman. "How about we pick a simple song and sing it together?" Fui Fui thought on it before she sang the first line of the most simple song that she knew of. Once she was done she looked to Liloa, "Did you get that? Or shall I repeat it?"

When Fui Fui sang, the sound that came out was beautiful, confident, and smooth. The notes slurred together to create an amazing tone. Even so, the lyrics sang were as clear as ever. The sound she created was strong and unwavering. The tone sounded perfect with the words of the song. At least, that's what Liloa thought.
"Woah!!!" Liloa cried, "You're amazing! Let me practice some." She opened her mouth and tried to sing the words she had just heard. At first when she tried, nothing came out. Liloa blushed. It was probably the nerves from her first time singing to an audience of some sort. She took a deep break and gathered her courage to sing the first note of the song. As she continued she began to ease into the singing. it was a valiant effort, but the result was not so close to Fui Fui's singing. "Let's try to sing it together now. I don't sound too good alone," Liloa laughed.

Fui Fui flushed a bit as Liloa responded her singing, "Thank you!" She chirped before motioning to Liloa, wanting to hear her sing next. It took other girl a moment to get her courage together but a moment later she was able to sing the words, seemingly able to recall the words that she'd sung for her. That in and of itself was impressive in Fui Fui's eyes. Once Liloa finished she set to clapping her hands, "That was wonderful, Liloa! Especially for your first try at the song." As the other girl asked if they could sing together she nodded her head rapidly, "Sure! I would love to sing with you. I will count down! Ready?" The purple haired girl set to counting down from five before starting the song.

"Aha, thanks!" Liloa said. She blushed as the other girl complimented her singing. She couldn't wait to try singing it together. It seemed more fun. Plus it took the pressure of singing alone off her shoulders. She wasn't alone. They were singing together!
Three, two, one. Fui Fui counted down and then they started singing. It wasn't perfect, but it was fun. There were some parts where they fell apart, but it wasn't bad, it was funny when that happened, because the song would become so confusing they were just blabbing different lyrics in the tune of the song.
Liloa enjoyed singing this song together with Fui Fui and wanted to sing more, so she asked, "Are there other songs you know?"

After the song was over Fui Fui gave a happy sound, "Thank you for singing with me! It's really fun to get to sing with someone my own age sometimes." She liked that she got to sing with someone closer to her same singing level as well. It would allow both of them to get better together... well, provided Liloa wanted to sing more then just one or two songs that was. Upon her new friend asking if there were other songs she knew though she set to nodding her head rapidly, "Oh! Yes, I know a lot of them. Want me to share them with you?" Instantly she set to thinking about it, about other songs that were easy to learn, after a moment she set to singing another one at a slow pace so that Liloa could catch all of the words to it. "It's one that sort of just repeats the verse over and over, it's something to sing while doing chores to make them seem to go by a little quicker. That is what my mother told me at least." She didn't do a ton of chores so she couldn't really say one way or the other if the song worked though.

Liloa quickly noted the words in her head. Okay, and it repeated? That made it easier. After mumbling it under her breath a bit, Liloa managed to memorize the words. "Singing with you is so fun!" Liloa said. She knew what Fui Fui meant. It was fun to sing with someone who wasn't super good or amazing. It felt like you were more in your realm of do-ability.
Liloa smiled at Fui Fui and asked, "are you ready to start now? I'm ready." As if to show she was indeed ready she sang a couple of notes. "Do~ Reee~ MIIII~ FAAA~ SOOO~" She made her notes very exaggerated and laughed as she finished. "Those didn't sound as good as I intended." She makes a thinking face. "Maybe I should be less subtle next time. I need to unleash all my inner powers!"

Fui Fui couldn't help but to giggle as Liloa set about singing some random notes before she said that they didn't sound as good as intended, "It's alright, we are still practicing so you don't have to worry about things not being perfect. We are both still learning after all." She didn't want her new friend to think that she was doing anything wrong. Not when she was working so hard from the looks of her. Instead Fui Fui wanted the two of them to have lots of fun with their singing attempts. "Ohhh? You're going to unleash all of your powers? I would like very much to see that, Liloa!" She didn't know what it meant exactly but if she had some sort of hidden powers deep down then Fui Fui really wanted to see them! Or hear them, which ever way the powers would present themselves was good by her.
