Luka starred up at his father for a long moment as he was told that he'd be hanging out with his cousin today. It was something that caused his lure to twitch a bit, lip curling. Of all people in the world that he had to deal with during his down time it had to be Ailani, huh? Mind you if it was anyone else he would be happy to hang out with them but it seemed as though they were hoping that he would turn her around somehow. As though someone his age had such fantastical powers. "I will see what I can do." Words that didn't really hold a lot of weight since he didn't really know what he could do. Ailani didn't want to be a hunter. She was the outcast of the family that would rather laze about then hunt and Luka couldn't wrap his mind around it. He'd talk to her though just to see if he could at least understand it. Not as though he had much choice as it were though since he was recovering from his wounds from the battle against the shark. Nothing bad but it was enough that his mother ordered him to rest before he went on another hunt. Words that sucked because he had to rest but at the same time were great since it meant he was allowed to hunt again once he healed up. News that made visiting Ailani easier.

Ailani hummed softly as she laid down on the soft sand, her lure swaying slowly. She lifted her head slightly, resting it down on her arms. She took a deep breath and blew bubbles into the water. Being easily amused by that she chuckled before she glanced around. "Hmm, I wonder what i'll do today." She mumbled lightly before looking up in the direction she believed to be up. Ailani took another deep breath, blowing out some bubbles and flowing them with her eyes as she floated up and into the dark murk above her. Ailani shifted slightly and reached out with one hand and lightly dug in the sand before pulling a small sand eel out of it. She moved it in front of her face and studied it for a moment before popping it into her mouth. She was hungry but not enough to go home to get something more to eat then some small sand eels. She reached out and started to dig around again.

It wasn't long before Luka was brought to where his cousin was located and much to his surprised she was actually doing something. Here he'd thought that she wouldn't really be bothered to even go after food under her own power and yet it looked as though she was digging for something in the dirt. He watched for a while before he swam toward her in a slow manner, not wanting to ruin this singular moment of her doing some hunting of her own. Coming to tread a bit of water near to her he just watched as she dug around before he finally said, "So you can actually hunt, huh?" Nothing big, definitely no shark, but she was still actually hunting! So the skills hadn't completely skipped her somehow she was just lazy on purpose. It wasn't something he couldn't understand since he was the opposite. Still, this meant that there was some sort of hope, right? He supposed only time would tell.

Ailani stops what she's doing and looks up at her cousin. Se smiled and waves, a few eels sticking out of her mouth, still wriggling. She slurped them into her mouth before she swallowed them. "Hello, Luka." She said and blinked a bit. "That counts as hunting? I thought it was just digging." She shrugged a a bit and chuckles. She sits up slowly and leans back on her hands. "You doing alright? You never willingly visit me." She said and grinned at him. She kicked her feet slowly.

"You can't fool me, you're hunting eels, Ailani. That counts." He told her before he swam over to her, settling down on a rock, his lure twitching a bit. Once he was as comfortable as he could get as a person that didn't like sitting still he said, "I'm fine, recovering from my first hunt. My mother told me to sit still and if you know anything about them then you know that I have to follow orders." His mother was in charge of the family after all, even his father would bend knee to any of their orders after all. Shaking his head he said, "Once I'm better I will be going along with Koloa or the twins on more hunts." He spoke in reference to his older siblings, those that would be the most likely to bring him out hunting since his parents weren't about to go out at the moment since they were keeping a nest. After a humming sound he said, "So, have you smartened up yet? Gonna start training for hunting bigger things then eels soon?"

"I don't count that as hunting. It's more like muscle memory from when I was little." She said with a sigh. She looked up at her cousin as he sat down. She smiled a bit and chucked, "Yeah, you're mom is a scary person." Ailani grinned and sits up a bit. She looked him up and down. "You're not that good at relaxing are you?" She asked. Her lure swayed slowly as she sways. "Ah, Well I bet you're really looking forward to get back to that. What do you think you'll hunt?" She asked him, some what curious. She stretched and lays down, "To be honest I could do that," Short pause, "Or, I could just lay in the sand and just relax instead." Ailani said. She looked at her cousin. "Do you plan on telling anyone in my family that I 'hunted' eels?" She asked, a bit worried that if he did her parents would find out then push her harder in training because they would just think that she has some unlocked potential or something.

Luka starred at her as she claimed that it wasn't hunting, just muscle memory. Anything to avoid actually acting like she knew what she was doing he thought to himself, lure giving a little twitch of annoyance. She really should take advantage of the fact that hunting was in her blood so she could become a powerful hunter like her parents he thought to himself, then gave a sighing sound. No, no... it wasn't his place to fret over Ailani. If she didn't want to hunt so be it. What she did with her life didn't effect him after all. "No, I don't like sitting still and 'relaxing' like this. It's forced rest because I got wounded and nothing more. If I had my way I'd still be following my siblings." A shame that he wasn't able to do that though. His mother had spoken. "Huh? What I will hunt? I don't know... last time I went with my brother to hunt a problem shark." He told her. Would telling her about the hunt he went on inspire her? An idea that was shot down the moment she mentioned that instead of hunting she could just lay in the sand and relax. "Tell you family? Pft! As though they would believe me. They would think I got a blow to the head during the fight with the shark then I'd never get to hunt again."

Ailani notices the twitch and giggled. "Do you need some training in relaxing?" She said, grinning. Her gills frilled a bit and smiled. "Why did you're mom want you to talk with me if you don't want to?" She asked, knowing full well she's not his favorite person to talk to. When he mentioned the shark her lure perked up a bit. "How big was the shark?" She asked and tilted her head a bit. Her hand digging in the sand unconsciously, pulling out an eel and popping it into her mouth. She didn't really notices what she did. She chuckled and smiled, "Fair enough. Thank you." Ailani smiled and looked up, blowing some bubbles.

"I do not." He said, not wanting to be a part of her lazing about lest it rub off on him or something. That would pretty much be the worst possible thing that could happen, lazy infection. At the mention of his mother and why they would want Luka to talk with Ailani he said, "I don't know. It was probably an attempt at getting you to go hunting through me. We are the same age so they think I can influence you." As she asked him about the shark, still mocking him by catching eels as she spoke, he said, "It was big enough that it made my oldest sibling looking pretty small. It was why it was such a pain. It was able to about throwing its weight around and stealing food from nets just cause its size was so intimidating." Shifting in place, feet kicking a little, he said, "Eh, no need to thank me. It's for my own good as well." He wouldn't let Ailani's antics make him seem like a crazy person.

His response made her laugh a bit. "Aww, so grumpy." Ailani giggled and smiles. She looked back up at him and sighs. "Out of the whole family, why does your mom want you to convince me?" She said, a bit confused by his mom and her intentions. Ailani shifts and sits up before stretching, her shoulders popping. She turns and crosses her legs, looking up at him. "Woooah, that sounds cool and terrifying." She said and blinks, a bit shocked but amazed. Ailani smiles and chuckle. "Fair, fair." she said, She slipped some eels into her pockets to keep as snacks for later.

Giving a shrug he said, "Don't know, I guess that they think that if anyone can save you it's me? Or maybe it's just cause they were trying to distract me so that I wouldn't think only on the fact that I can't hunt and train at the moment?" Ailani was a distraction of sorts after all. "It was. I was lucky that it didn't swallow me whole." Not that his brother would have allowed such a thing. The minor injuries that he'd gotten were mostly him getting clipped by the shark, first by it's tail and then by one of his fins. The biggest damage being caused by how rough the creature's skin was. Just getting hit by the thing hurt because of that. Shifting again so he was sitting cross legged, or at least as close to it as he could with his scraped up leg he found himself watching Ailani closely. After a moment he asked, "So do you just refuse to hunt to be contrary? Or is it something else?" He doubted he'd get a straight answer but he'd ask regardless.

Ailani sighs and shook her head, "it easily could be both." She didn't like the term 'save her'. They aren't saving her, they are trying to force her to hunt at a younger age then she wants to. She just wants to relax and have a life of her own that isn't just the family business. Ailani might get into it in the future, she has thought of the possibilities. "Wow, I'm glad you're okay." She said and smiled. Ailani shrugged and shifted, looking down. "I just don't want to do it if my whole family is being so pushy about it." She said. She pulled out and eel from her pocket and held it out to Luka. "Want one?" She asked, the eel still wriggling in her hand.

"Huh." He just didn't get it... but he supposed that in the end not everyone, even everyone within their family, could be the same. He found himself wondering if any of the new babies that his parents were having were going to end up like Ailani. He kinda hoped not since it couldn't exactly be easy for her. Looking over at Ailani he nodded his head, "Yeah, thanks. I'm glad that it wasn't as bad as it could have been. It could have likely bit me in half if it wanted to... well, my brother wouldn't have let it happen. I mean you should have seen what he did when it tackled me!" He sounded pretty in awe struck by his brother who was the heir or the family since he was the oldest. Well, was supposed to be, it could easily be a position taken from him if one of the other siblings fought him for it. "So... being contrary then." He said when she said that she didn't want to do it because her family was being pushy. Giving a shrug of one shoulder he turned his attention to the offered eel. After a moment he nodded, taking the creature from her, "Thanks." He was quick to dispatch it with his teeth then ate the creature in a couple quick bites.

Ailani leaned back on her hands, looking upwards. Her gills frilled up a bit, some bubbles coming out of them. That was something she did when she was upset of stressed. She took a deep breath and slowly lays down on her back, groans lightly. She sat back up and smiled, "He sounds pretty cool." She chuckles, finding it amusing how much he seems to look up to his brother. "I guess." She said and smiled. Letting out a light chuckle, "Two bites huh? Nice." She said and looked at him, happy to talk to someone. Ailani slightly kicked her feet through the water slowly as to not upset the sand at the bottom.

Giving a nod Luka said, "He really is cool, yes. I hope to be even half as good a hunter as he is." To be fully honest he wanted to be twice the hunter of his brother but if he could at least be half as good or equal to that would also be nice. Strength was important to the family and important to Luka. He'd take hold of and claim the strength even if Ailani didn't want it. "Huh? Oh, well they taste good I guess... and eating a bunch will let me heal a lot quicker. At least that was what my mother told me." He just hoped it was true because he wanted to be better sooner then later. Looking over at his cousin he said, "So... I guess... thanks for the eel?" Weird that he had to thank her of all people for providing food.
