Ophelia was nervous. Her wings fluttered behind her as she looked at herself in the mirror. She hadn't applied much makeup, just a little gloss to her lips and a black eyeliner. Her facial markings made it difficult sometimes to wear the stuff but today the effort was worth it. It was her and Nyrili's first date!
It had taken them a while to get it together, due to class and homework, but it was here and it was time!
Oh, crap, it really was time! "I'm gonna be late!" she squeaked as she jumped up and ran out of her room.

They were supposed to meet Ophelia outside of the dorms they both lived in. Nyrili wrung their hands, hoping Ophelia hadn't changed her mind about this whole thing. It had taken so long to get to this, what if Ophelia decided she was tired of waiting and moved on to someone else? What if the beautiful Fey had realized how much better she could do than a wallflower Naga?
What if-
Oh, there she was. Nyrili beamed as the Fey approached. "Hey," they breathed, then blushed in embarrassment because how lame was that? "Y-your dress is really pretty," they tried instead.

"Thanks!" Ophelia said and grinned brightly. The Fey was glad Nyrili did, she had picked it out specifically for this date. "You look really nice, too," she offered with a soft blush. She wasn't sure, but it looked like Nyrili had done something with their hair. It was pinned back out of their face.
"So... What did you have in mind for tonight's festivities?" She had been looking forward to this date for too long. Ophelia had offered to plan it, but the Naga had insisted on doing it themselves and it had made the Fey curious as to what they'd come up with.

Nyrili's face flamed with color at Ophelia's compliment. "O-oh! Th-thank you... I just... thought I would t-try something new," they stammered. They were so very pleased that Ophelia liked the look that they almost missed her next question.
"Oh! There's one of those pop-up fairs in town, I thought we could go to that. You know, eat junk food, play games, win p-prizes," they said with a breathless laugh. Nyrili definitely wanted to win a plush toy for Ophelia before the night was over. Well, they wanted to at least try. The games were fun, even if they weren't the best at them.
"Unless you'd rather do something else?"

"No way! That sounds like a ton of fun!" Ophelia said with a bright grin. She hadn't even thought about the fair, but she was glad that Nyrili had. She was definitely excited about this now. Ophelia loved roller coasters, and she hoped the shy Naga would get on at least one with her.
"Are you ready?" she asked. Nyrili nodded and they began the walk. "So what's your favorite kind of ride?" she wondered. "Oh, and your favorite treat!" Ophelia planned on spoiling Nyrili at least a little. She might have to be sneaky about it since the blue haired junior seemed to want to take the lead for their first date.

Nyrili beamed, glad to see that Ophelia liked their date idea. As they made their way to the fair, Nyrili was happy to answer Ophelia's questions. "M-my favorite ride are the bumper cars," they said with a giggle. "B-but I kind of like the roller coasters, too. Not the really scary ones with the loop-de-loops but the ones that go fast are good!"
They had to think about the next question. "I think funnel cakes are my favorite. So much sugar!" they laughed. A few minutes later, they were in line and Nyrili was paying for their tickets and unlimited ride armbands. "So what first?"

"Oh, I'm so glad you like roller coasters! They're my favorite," she gushed and smiled. "I like the elephant ears, too. The cinnamon is so tasty! Oh, and candy apples!" They were both going to eat so much sugar today. It was a good thing they didn't have classes on the weekends because they were likely to be riding on a sugar high for hours after this.
As they walked into the fair, Ophelia felt a little overwhelmed at first. What would they do first? "How about we start with a coaster?" It would be better to ride those as much as they wanted before they got food.

Nyrili giggled and nodded. "Coaster first would probably be a good idea." Those particular rides plus food in the stomach was not a good combination. "How about that one?" they asked, pointing to a fairly large one where Nightmares were already screaming. It didn't have any loop-de-loops but it was definitely moving fast.
Just looking at it made Nyrili's heart race, but then again it hadn't quite been beating correctly since they had laid eyes on Ophelia back at the dorms. "O-or maybe that one?" they asked and pointed to the Ferris wheel. Also probably not a good combination with food, and a good place for possible canoodling... or was it too early for that yet?

Ophelia blushed a little when Nyrili suggested the Ferris wheel, but she thought they could save that for later. When it was cooler and the Fey could use the temperature as an excuse to scoot closer. "Let's go on the roller coaster first," she said with a smile, then grabbed Nyrili's hand and head for the ride.
They spent hours at the fair, eating junk food and riding all the rides they wanted to go on. The last one they got in line for was indeed the Ferris wheel, and once the car stopped at the top...
"So, did you have a good time?" Ophelia wondered.

They didn't even have to think about the answer. "Yes!" they exclaimed, "I had a great time." They blushed and smiled over at Ophelia. "H-how about you?" The pretty Fey was currently snuggled against the Naga and Nyrili had their tail gently wrapped around Ophelia's ankle.
Instead of the vocal answer they expected, Ophelia tugged Nyrili's face toward hers and kissed them softly. The Naga was quiet for a moment, eyes wide until they melted into the kiss. "O-oh," they murmured when the two parted. "I-I'll take that as a yes," they giggled quietly. This was the best first date ever...
