Noah had lost count of the days he’d been chained to the wall after the third. He’d been in worst scrapes before, he’d insisted, to himself. And at first they’d even fed him. They’d been patient with him, even—until they’d all vanished. He’d been sure something had frightened them. They wouldn’t have left him here. Not after three years of interrogation. Not after all of that work.
Something had gone wrong. The grunts had fled. And he was chained, unable to escape whatever horror had frightened Team Rocket away. The worst thing wasn’t the hunger. No, hunger pangs had gone away the after the second day. It was being completely alone. He’d never been left this long.
Being alone meant his mind was allowed to wander where it most wanted to be. Home. Dea...would she recognize him? They’d wiped her memory for her own safety, and he’d planned to return within that same month, only to be captured. He wished he could see her now. To apologize. To tell her he’d never meant to leave. To tell her how much he loved her.
The man was feverish and close to delirious with dehydration and hunger, but his mind held onto Dea. He loved her.

Luckily, two Poke humans had arrived at the building, on intel that they had received from some of their allies. One of them had cotton candy pink hair in two pig tails with orange wings peeking out. She was the one who had already made the rounds, the spy wanting to make sure nothing would cause them any problems. Her companion was what one could only describe as as a red headed tree in a doctor's coat. He was standing stoically next to her, assessing everything he was seeing.
"Well, it seems all of Team Rocket cleared out of this building before we got here. Do you think they caught wind that some of your people had found out about this hidden base, Kimi?"the male asked, looking over to her.
"Anything is possible, Paian. Though, my informant said they had at least one prisoner, but I don't see anyone. Maybe they took them with them, though maybe they didn't. Hello..anyone here?!"she called out as loudly as she could at the end, after having answered the other.

The voices seemed loud, to Noah’s trained ears. He couldn’t believe it. Maybe he was going crazy. Maybe this was the end, afterall. Hearing voices, would he be seeing things next? What if this was some sort of trap?
He swallowed. Trap or not, anything was better than here. “Hello?” He called back. His voice was hoarse from disuse. When he’d refused to reveal the whereabouts of his wife, they had attempted to develop his own physic abilities. They were thankfully, nowhere near the ability his wife possessed.
He couldn’t do what they wanted him to. He wouldn’t tell them where Dea was. He wouldn’t.

Paian thought he heard a reply back to Kimi's call, though it was quite soft. However, with an exchange of looks with his sister, it was clear that she had heard it too. He nodded his head as she motioned him forward, until they found a door down the hall.
"I think it came from downstairs, hopefully there are some stairs behind this door,"Kimi spoke, before trying the door. It gave a squeak of protest, before allowing them entrance. Thankfully, just as she hoped, there was stairs going down. She led the way, just in case there was trouble still here, hidden down in the darkness. It wasn't long before they came to the end of the stairs and they were looking around.
"There is what looks like a figure over there,"Paian suggested, as they walked closer.

A figure there was, but he was by no means intimidating. His six foot stature was diminished by the position the chains forced him into, and he was clearly starved. He did, however, look up towards the voices. Were these members of teamrocket?
Where they crazed hallucinations? Was one of them a walking tree? He’d never seen anything like it. He pulled on his restraints, trying to back away from the two figures. He couldn’t escape.
Would these hallucinations kill him? If not, if they took him...perhaps he could escape. He could ask for help. Someone had to know where Dea was.

Kimi and Paian got close, though it was too dark to make out much of the man chained there.
"How could they do such a thing to a person, they are going to need medical care. I can't see any features, but I can tell the person is chained,"Kimi spoke, pulling something out of one of her bags. It was a lock pick and she began to work on the locks connecting him to the chains.
"Don't worry, Kimi, I will make sure this person is taken care of. I knew that Team Rocket was getting desperate, but this is ridiculous,"he sighed, watching her work.

What..what?! It sounded as if these...monsters wanted to help him. Noah took several rapid breaths, unsure what to do. These monsters were unchaining him. For what purpose, his crazed mind wondered. What did they want with him? Information? He wouldn’t give it. He’d never give it. No!
Once his hand was free of the chains he lashed out, striking Kimi on the arm. It was weak. It seemed as if he had little strength left, but it was frenzied.
He had to protect his wife. And he wouldn’t be giving her whereabouts to anyone!

Kimi looked surprised when the man hit her, though it wasn't much more than if he had tapped her. What had Team Rocket done to him to make him like this, she didn't know. However she watched as Paian took the man's arm and held it, so she could get back to work.
"Look, my sister is trying to help you, so stop trying to be an idiot. Now sit still and let her finish. Then we can find out where you belong, from the look of it, you have been here a long time,"Paian commented.

Noah predictably tried to fight Paian’s hold. He squirmed, he tried pulling his arm away, but it was no use. Paian was stronger than he was.
Help him? Why would they help him? Was this some sort of trick? That must have been it. A trick. They wanted to lull him into a false sense of security so he’d trust them.
Where did he belong? He didn’t know. Wherever Dea was. He belonged at her side.

"Seriously, you are trying to fight me?! Do you realize that you are in no condition for such stupidity. So just save your strength and stop doing such idiotic things,"Paian hissed.
"Paian, he must not be in his right mind. I have seen people act like this when they have been captive for too long. You have to be gentle with him,"Kimi reminded gently. She heard Paian give a snort of annoyance, but she knew that was par for the course for him.

Something caused Noah to go limp and stop fighting against Paian. His eyes were wide as he studied the tree-like humanoid. “Squirt?” He breathed. He was definitely hallucinating. Paian was his wife’s Pokémon, small and sweet. He’d never been like this.
Who were these people? What did they want with him? Had they really come to help? “Are you real?” He managed.

Paian was worried as the man went limp, had he passed out on them or something? He was just about to look, when he caught wide eyes staring at him and he was confused. That was until he had heard a nickname he had not heard in quite a long time. He reached for the man's face with his other hand, getting a close look at him.
"Only family know that nickname and only one person has ever used it. However, some of Kimi's contacts thought that person had died,"he spoke firmly.

Noah, predictably, moved away from Paian’s hand. He was still skittish about being touched, it seemed. “Dead?” He echoed. Oh, there had been times when he wished he was. So many times. “I’m not dead yet, Squirt.” Not yet. But if these were hallucinations, probably soon.
“Kimi? Where’s Kimi?” Noah looked around, dazedly. “Kimi!”

Paian was looking the man over, he couldn't deny it looked a lot like the person he knew. When the other spoke, he looked to him, it seemed Kimi's informants had been wrong long ago when they told those who knew the man had died.
"I see that, just calm down. If we had known..we would have kept looking when you were gone for too long,"he admitted.
"And I am right here, trying to force the last locks loose,"she spoke calmly.

Calm down...calm down? How could he? He hadn’t seen these two in what felt like decades. “Known...” He echoed, blinking up at Paian. “Dea’s safe?” Was the only thought on his mind. Was Dea safe? It didn’t matter about him. It had never been about him. He’d known that from a young age. Dea was special. Pokémon chose her.
He’d had to go out and catch his own. And they were gone. Killed, he presumed, in Rocket’s cruel attempts to get him to betray his wife’s wereabouts.
