Harley quietly went to go sit down in his room as he removed his hearing aids with a slow sigh. The quiet that followed was a strange welcomed one as he no longer had to try and process sound, or things he really had trouble with connecting the dots on. It was getting better with each day, but it was also exhausting. Harley had made two really nice friends...but he was still dealing with his bully on a regular basis. He really didn't want to tell his family about it..they had a lot going on, and he didn't want to be a burden.
So, he carried the weight of his current situation without complaint. It had gotten a little better with opening up to more students..as he wasn't alone as often. Which was a plus! It wasn't all bad, it was all a matter of perspective.
Harley stretched out as he laid on his bed, reaching for a pillow and pulling it close as he cuddled into it. His eyes gazed across the room at nothing in particular as his mind began to wander. One day when he grew up..he wanted to help kids like him who had problems or disabilities. Like his own interpreter, maybe he could do something similar? Or even helping out those who needed a home. The thought made him smile as he mused. Art was also something the child loved, but he wasn't so sure he would be able to make a living off that, or if it was what they really wanted to do. Harley also realized...he liked using gender pronouns. Lately, he had actually begun to think and refer to himself more as he, rather than they. It had been a slow, gradual transition and truth be told it wasn't really much to write home about, but it was something Harley had noticed.
