At the main entrance to Bloodfest, the strong scent of coffee wafts through the air! Nestled by the entrance of the main walkway, a cozy booth seems to be selling coffee and other store bought beverages such as water, juice, and sparkling tea for the customers who don't like coffee. Accompany the smell of java is one of soup, packaged in mason jars for trolls on the go! The location allows trolls to grab a cup of coffee or one of the other refreshments that the booth offers. The chalkboard menu is decorated in detailed chalk art from skilled hands, reminiscent of a certain painter, as well as some graffiti pop art. A small seating area nearby has an odd table of paints, available for trolls to come and draw or paint!
At first glance the booth is fairly standard for a food stand but to the discerning eye, a troll might notice some of the staff looks the same! Trolls that paid attention to the Superstar Authority television program might recognize the name of the company, along with it's slogan! The staff smile and gesture for any weary trolls to come over and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Bloodfest!

spacerStep right up and order some coffee from Busthind's newest coffeeshop, The Nightly Grind! Trolls can order any hot beverage they'd like and roll a d20 to see how well the service goes! Nucleo is relying on his clones to keep the booth running smoothly but things don't always go right when he's away! If you would like RP with Nucleo or Amonee, please quote Doutei or Yamashii!
20 - The clone screws up and accidentally makes an extra drink! you get a bonus drink, score! 19 - Someone started a pay it forward and has already agreed to pay for your drink! 17-18 - The Nuclone accidentally (or was it accidental?) made a larger size of the drink you ordered! Score! 15-16 - Your drink arrives with extra foam or whipped cream (whichever is applicable) plus chocolate sprinkles! Some clone is feeling playful! 13-14 - Mmm! Definitely the first pour from a freshly brewed pot! Strong, hot, and kick your leg sweaters off! 11-12 - That didn't take as long as you expected! Hustlin' 10 - You receive your coffee in a timely enough manner without anything noteworthy wrong with it. 8-9 - Minor inconvenience! The sugar, cream, or milk you wanted to add is out. If your troll doesn't add any of these, pick something else like a napkin! 6-7 - Your coffee takes a lot longer than you expected and is barely warm by the time you receive it. 4-5 - You receive the wrong drink. If confronted, the clones will remake your order but it adds to your wait time. 2-3 - Suddenly a squirrel jumps out and startles you and one of the nuclones! Your coffee ends up spilling on you in the panic and the squirrel races out of sight again! 1 - You've lost track of the clone who took your order and never receive your coffee, oops!

Sephos ArbolaSephos had ventured out from his greenhouse booth a few times, but every time he hadn't found one of the booths he was looking for. Finally, though, he had. "Hey -- I brought tea." he said, putting a bag on the counter. It smelled fresh and earthy, warm even in the cold air, a rich odor that tickled the nose and tongue. "I'll take anything." he said with a shrug. He couldn't help looking at the clones -- was one of them the same as before? One he recognized? It was impossible to tell which clone was which, if they were even different at all. Eh, so the coffee was cold. Whatever -- Sephos felt the jolt of it anyway, a nice feeling, and one he appreciated. "Can I help out?"

While running your booth, you’re approached by pair of a trolls, a yellowblood and a redblood. They stand close together, but you can see they’re holding hands quite tightly and the redblood seems like she’s hanging back slightly. They’re both bundled up, as one would expect in this weather, and the yellowblood seems particularly anxious, biting his lip and rubbing his free palm on his thigh.
“Ahh, I, ah, I w-wanted t-t-to...mmm.” Man his stutter wasn’t great.
The yellowblood shifts a little, eyes darting away then back, digging his hand into his pocket and procuring friendship bracelets.
“H-here, f-or, ah, r---unning a b-booth. Th-thanks.” He hands over the prize, looking a bit flushed and flustered. You received bracelets from Nictor and Kolako! There’s enough that each troll manning the booth can keep one each! If i miscounted and missed someone, let me know. Everyone needs a bracelet. Everyone. If you would like to respond, feel free to quote Nictor! Kolako doesn’t seem very interested in talking though.

Hemera couldn't see, and felt a little silly for it. She had to be guided by Leeroi, his hands on her face, across the boardwalk. To where, she had no idea. That's how surprises worked, she supposed. Still, she didn't like having to rely on someone else to keep her from bumping into others. At least she had gotten to take her glasses off, first...the smudging would have been terrible.
She couldn't let herself be too sour about her discomfort, though. Doing something admittedly silly felt pretty refreshing after the run-in with Panili.
Everyone had limits, however.
"Furore, please tell me we're almost there."

Leeroi removed his hands while humming a little 'ta-da' style theme. The reveal wasn't much, but he thought it would at least make things a bit interesting. It took him a second to remember to help Hemera put her glasses on as well. Not the best reveal, but hopefully his excitement meant something.
"It's light refreshments! For a job well done!" Leeroi cheered, holding Hemera's hands for a moment and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. His attention flickered frantically as he tried to stay on task. Right— drinks.
They were out of sugar by the time Leeroi went to fix his hustle the way he liked it, but he supposed he would enjoy anything warm at this point. "I'll get us a good seat while you wait for yours!" Leeroi smiled. He had a gift to prepare.
Heading out of Hemera's line of sight, Leeroi set up her gift on the chair opposite to him. To passerby it looked like he was sharing drinks with an oversized gerboa, but that was not a problem that concerned him.

"...Ah." She sure did see some blurs. Leeroi was quick to correct that, though, and it felt pretty darn nice that someone else was so on top of dealing with her vision issues. Mera blinked, adjusting her glasses, getting her vision back.
"Oh!" A Nightly Grind booth. Mera vaguely recalled passing by it a few times, intending to check it out. The moment she processed this, everything else went too fast. Holding hands, a kiss on the cheek, Leeroi moving off all of a sudden...like a small whirlwind.
"Ah. Oh. Okay." Her own hand lingered on that cheek. Not like she was really new at this anymore, but after the long, long Bloodfest, it felt nicer than usual.
Mera made her order, wondering if the real Nucleo and maybe Amonee were around somewhere. Hm. She might just have to catch them later.
But maybe the clones were happy she came by, as her order came back surprisingly fancy. Unless Leeroi organized that...? Hard to tell.
She tracked Leeroi down, already in a considerably good mood in so little time. Mera went to sit down, but found something else in her seat.
The tealblood blinked in surprise. "Where did this come from?"

"Can't you see I'm on a date?" Leeroi laughed at Hemera's question, lazily gesturing toward the plush toy taking up Hemera's seat. He let the joke linger for a second so he could enjoy any confusion on her face, then waved his hand.
Taking a sip of his coffee, he tilted his head to explain. "I won them for you, down at Lieutenant Cincil's booth!" He gave Hemera a big smile, hoping that she'd like the toy as much as he did.

Mera took a moment to make the connection, looking at the toy all the while. "...Ah. Is that how it is?" she asked, then easily took the seat over and put the jerboa in her lap. "Well, I hope it was fun while it lasted." Her elbow rested on the table, and then her chin in the palm of her hand. "I believe it's about my turn to have all of your attention, don't you think?" Not that she ever felt lacking; Mera liked watching Leeroi with the kids at the booth, and she thought he handled Panili well for all intents and purposes. And being on a very isolated mountain, nearly neighbors, she got plenty of time with him alone.
That said, a tiny bit of their own time in public felt pretty nice, too.
Really, though, she was just trying to keep her composure.
Even though she managed to look at him to retort, most of her attention was still on the plushie. Mera looked back at it, and petted it a bit, almost fidgeting with it. No one really...won her things. Especially not quadmates. She knew it was something people did, but it still was so foreign for her.
"...Thank you. I love it." Hemera held it, in a way that looked cute but really she was hiding her face with it. An easy teal bliush...
"I hope the lieutenant didn't put you through the ringer to get it," she added with a soft laugh.

"She did, but that's half the fun!" What good was any game that didn't challenge its players? What good would a Hemera's gift be if it wasn't earned? It was all worth it to see Hemera blush, to hear her say how much she loved it...
"If neither of us liked being challenged, we wouldn't be sitting here," Leeroi quirked an eyebrow, chin resting in his hand with his elbow propped up on the table.

"Well, hopefully at least it wasn't as senseless as the last version of the booth..." Though whenever she passed by Assjacked, she thought she could hear? Weird yet specific sorts of sounds from it sometimes? Perhaps it was supposed to be like a war simulator, which would make more sense than weird self-inflicted injury games.
"But you would do anything to win either way," Hemera acknowledged. She could only wonder how much extra drive he might have to win something for her, but she was absolutely not about to ask.
Instead she showed her face again, the teal still a little there, and opted to stir her drink with its straw, considering his words. "Hmmm..." She quirked her own brow.
"I suppose that is the case." Then she smiled at the airs she clearly was putting on. "But it's an interesting challenge! I mean, you are. As a person. And that's a nice departure from, admittedly, a few other trolls I know. The best challenges keep you on your toes but don't make you bitter from fatigue."
She looked up at him, finally, pausing mid-stir. "For instance, that plunge event..."

"Now now now hold up—" Leeroi waved his hand defensively. "I knew you were going to win that one, frosty. I'd been trapped under an avalanche all day, and had enough of a taste of hypothermia. I was just convincing you to play. And you did! So I won."
Leeroi smiled from behind the rim of his coffee cup. He took a good sip, then stopped short of putting the cup back on the table. He found himself staring at the surface of the drink, watching the swirling colors with distraction. A jolt of thought changed his mood dramatically. The reason they were getting coffee was to serve as distraction from a hard conversation with Panili, but Leeroi couldn't ignore a trunkbeast in the room.
"Hemera..." Leeroi's tone was serious, low. "I can't... I can't just talk cute, and pretend that conversation didn't happen, you know..." He idly scratched at his cup with the nail of his thumb, and paused significantly. Thinking about Panili working with the space crew was eating him up. There was a whole side story he wasn't invited to. A whole plot he didn't understand. He needed to.
"The lightseekers... helped you diffuse the bomb in Chittentown. By helping you uncover hidden information?" Leeroi couldn't fathom how all of this fit together, how Panili had any idea how to solve the catastrophe she envisioned. Hopefully Hemera could clue him in.

"I didn't...I wasn't pretending. I just wanted a break from it for a moment." She thought Leeroi did, too. Wasn't that why he brought her here?
Hemera sighed and adjusted her glasses. "I don't like that two important trolls in my life are at odds with each other. It makes me feel caught in the middle. And I really don't like that." She didn't like...where it could end up going, if Panili continued to cast Leeroi as the bad guy. Not that all of her concerns were invalid. But Hemera would make it work, the best she could. Leeroi wasn't as bad as Hemera herself had once thought; she could convince Panili of the same. They were birds of a feather, after all.
"You want an explanation," she said, her own voice low. "I understand that. I never meant to keep secrets from you. I told you what I could at the time, when I was having that meltdown you helped me throgh, remember? But, yes. The Lightseekers were forming as a fledgling group. No one joining had expected to do something so...intensive. But Panili had her visions, and called us together to act on it. So we split into two groups to keep an eye out. We found coded messages through her sharing further visions of places where we would find them. When we decoded the full message, it just mentioned a sequence of colors. The same color wires the bomb had." And that explained itself. Risky? Yes. Any other options at the time? No.
Hemera folded her hands and looked down at them. "It probably sounds ridiculous. I suppose it kind of was, but we were able to help."
Then she exhaled. "There was another mission while we were up in space but that was more...aligned with the general organization's goal than anything else. I'd rather talk about it when we're home again than here."
"Her visions were exhausting and I don't think she had any idea how they all fit together. And in the end, they only did so much... The trolls who run the Grind, they're Lightseekers, too. The key players on the Civisect side. But that tower still went down... I should have gone over to help after defusing..." But she didn't think to, and a number of trolls suffered. It clearly weighed heavily on her, as she just continued to look away.

Leeroi felt like a jerk. Ignoring the problem was his idea. He wasn't good at this s**t. He just wasn't capable of covering up his thinking.
"You weren't pretending. I was. I just can't ignore it like I thought I could." Leeroi rubbed his face, thinking. Maybe he could have, if he hadn't seen Piccal looking for Panili. He took a long breath, and sighed.
"I didn't like her making assumptions about me, about us." Leeroi folded his arms, looking away and just observing the trolls passing by. He wasn't sure if there was anything that made him angrier, than trolls making assumptions about his character. Gangrene, Vidari, now the little orange thief. Leeroi ground his teeth, trying to think of how to redirect his anger into focus. There was a mystery to solve.
"Coded messages..." Leeroi leaned back in his seat, a hand covering his mouth as he thought. "Why would they leave secret clues for disarming the bomb they installed?" Was it if they had a change of heart? Or were they intentionally playing games? Leeroi grumbled.
"You say you wanted to help Civisect, but that bomb went off the moment we diffused Chittentown's. They probably planned it that way." There was nothing Hemera could do. Another tragedy for Civisect, but they were city the most acclimated to it, always wanting to pave over the old city. Leeroi was just glad he could rescue his own hard work. Still, something was bugging him about the situation.
"I don't know about you— I don't buy that scientists did that. I don't think it was rebels, either." That bomb was so hard to find, it was so deep into the tower, past so many traps and potential clearance checks. Unless they were working with hardened criminals, Leeroi just didn't see how they would have been able to get the access to place the bomb at all.
And Leeroi saw that bomb. It was unassuming at first glance, but clearly powerful when detonated. Rebels were clearly infiltrating, as Hemera and Leeroi were aware after their last meeting with upper military. But this was far too complex for rebel expertise. This was some other kind of conspiracy.

"I know," Hemera sighed again, still concerned about the situation with Panili. "She had a very stark view of you and it wasn't fair. But I was in a similar position once, myself." Granted, she also got to see Leeroi be less than stellar multiple times. Even so, here they still were, together. "You explained yourself very well," Hemera took his hand for a moment. She had been very impressed, and was still rather proud of him. "And considering she was still hostile after...I might just have to talk with her myself. I know it's not a preferred choice; I know you're capable of speaking for yourself, but if she doesn't want to listen to you, that might be the only option that's left." Hemera shrugged a little with her shoulders. "But that's something for another time, I think."
There was more important discussion at the moment. It felt like there should be notepads and even military uniforms involved. Not that she disliked collaborating on a big mystery.
"I'm not sure why they would leave that information around. You do have a point: Why would they bother to give the option to possibly undo their hard work? You saw how they managed to hack the defense systems and everything." Hemera knew it wasn't scientists based on internal reports, but that wasn't something to mention in public. "While the scientists could easily be suspects, it does feel too easy. Coordinating between both sides over such a short span of time would be very difficult, and such a level of desperation mixed with tactics we didn't really see when other scientists were having meltdowns. If it was among their circle, who else might need to know how to dismantle the bomb?"
Hemera considered the coded messages further. "Leaving messages like that around for anyone to find would definitely be sloppy, or otherwise if intentional, for unfathonable reasons otherwise. I doubt the rebels' involvement, myself. They were practically exterminated before, driven underground. They're terrorists, so maybe they could have their own twisted logical reason to attack, but..."
Hemera remembered Perore.
"My roommate was a rebel and was fighting alongside us. She had opportunity to sabotage our efforts to make sure the tower blew up, but she didn't. Why would rebels make their way up if it was possible they could be caught in the blast with the others? They wouldn't have the trollpower to make up for it."
She mulled things over. "I also wonder if the problems in the dome were at all connected, but the lack of a budget on Chittentown's side could have also contributed to the malfunctions..."
There were many unknowns.
"But you have to admit, it would actually be a bit ironic if hard, tactical, scientific efforts were undone my mystic clairvoyance. That would certainly be a monkey wrench. Not that that's a real assessment, just a passing thought, really."
