White was not a color of stealth. The only time white was good was in the arctic, but otherwise it stained easily and it stood out in the dark. Burglars did not wear white for a reason, and despite not being a burglar, he still had to sneak about in the dark to avoid the cops and other authorities who might see him as a dangerous threat. They were, as Destiny City put it, terrorists. He couldn't disagree with them. He had done his fair share of terror, and a lot of it had been to civilians. Energy harvesting was a hard chore back in the day. Starseed stealing had been even harder. But nowadays he was just a knight who needed to avoid cameras and the cops.

Rooftops were great for that, but like he said, white stood out which made it easy to spot the page. He had felt the energy signature, but the white stood out.

Hoping a few roofs, he decided to check in only for the sake of intel. His heels clacked on the lip of the roof as he landed on the same roof as them. A woman, with a high-slipped dress. White, with teal accents. They almost looked like scales. He was terrible with knight groups and couldn't place her, not that he felt those groups mattered. This royal. This planet. This wonder. They had no alliance from what he could tell. Just color coding.

"Good evening." He said, stepping down off the lip and onto the roof. "Busy?"

Pendour never really tried to hide. It seemed like it would be pointless, anyway, with her aura billowing out from her like a beacon. She did not hide from civilians, either. She got strange looks from them from time to time, but maybe if they saw her enough, they would learn that she would not hurt them.

They were not her main concern, though, and so that night, she climbed out of the average person's sightline and onto the rooftops. She liked the views of the city from up here, the streetlights flickering down below like the opposite of stars. She liked the way that she could feel the wind as it played with her hair and the light silks of her skirt.

An aura flared up, one that was strong but warm, and a soft smile spread across her face. Would it be a friend or someone new?

Someone new, it turned out. When the man approached, she nodded at him. "Hello," she said. "I'm just busy with seeing who I can find. It looks like it's you." She kept her smile, all while very obviously looking him up and down. The eyepatch stood out in a way that put a bit of a knot in her throat, and she wondered how many people ended up loosing bits and pieces of themselves. His symbols were what really confused her, though.

"Are you a senshi or a knight?" she asked.

"Seeing who you could find? Are you looking for anyone in particular or just waiting for a fight to come to you?" He asked, find her just standing there to be a bit strange, but at least she wasn't running away or staying at home. That said something about the resolve to do something when in uniform.

Her question was surprising and he glanced at himself for a moment and then looked back up. "Do I honestly look like a senshi?" He said it in a tone of both surprise and borderline disgust. "I'm a knight." He clarified to her. "I'm Gevuadan."

Pendour's eyes widened a little. "Oh, no," she said. "Not fights. I know with these powers I've been given, I'm called a knight, but I don't wish to hurt anyone." Her smile faltered under the intensity of his gaze. She reached for her bracelet and started twisting one of the beads beneath her fingers. "Maybe learn, heal, protect in other ways."

She didn't understand his reaction to her question. "You have stripes," she said. "The senshi I met had stripes. The knights I've met had symbols of planets, that was the only way that I knew how to tell, but, um," she trailed off and swallowed. There were symbols on his outfit now that she looked, but she didn't know them. "I'm Pendour, Page of Neptune."

"Well you're standing up here like a beacon so even if you aren't looking for a fight, one will find you. If you want to only heal and protect, you should find someone to do that for when on patrols. Going by yourself means that whole thing is out the window unless you are just going to fix yourself up when someone beats your head into the ground." He pointed out as he walked the remaining distance over and looked her over.

"Neptune. So that's the colors for them. Not that it matters. These groups have no meaning." He said as he decided to play along. "Gevaudan. The symbol here is Ganymeade." He turned to show the epaulette on his shoulder with the heart symbol with a sort of squiggly tail end.

He stood up firm after showing her. "It's true senshi usually have white as their base color, but you should look out for the subtle differences between a knight's energy signature and that of a senshi. Even the Dark Moon Court and the Negaverse have differences."

Pendour glanced down at the streets below, where she thought she could see a few tiny figures walking in the distance. "It's better that a fight finds me than someone who doesn't know the possibilities of things," she said. "I've been told about the war. I know I may not last." Her face stayed soft, even though something went tight in her chest when she thought about such things. "I'm trying to be smart about it, at least. Safety in numbers is a good idea, but first I have to see what friends I can find."

She wasn't always the best at facial expressions, but she didn't think that he was offering, and she stepped back and raised an eyebrow when he talked about Neptune like that. "Um, I think the planets are unique and beautiful myself. I'm sorry I didn't know of Ganymede." She took a quick breath and nodded at his advice. "Well, we are all on the same side. I'm not usually one for factions but the Negaverse has been quite violent in my experience. I can tell their auras, at least. I haven't heard of a Dark Mirror."

"Just friends? You also might want to ask if the person worth protecting and who becomes your friend has goals you also like. If you only want to serve by being a body guard, then I can take you. As long as just being friends is your only criteria. I'm not sure what your goals in the war are, but like you said, you and I are on the same side." And he smiled at that.

"The Dark Moon Court is another faction of Chaos. Not the Negaverse but their own group. They look like senshi, but aren't the corrupted senshi the Negaverse keeps." He said, moving to sit down on the high ledge of the building's roof.

"I don't know Ganymeade either. Never been." He patted the spot beside him. "Have you been to Neptune? Have you met your Royal?"

"Knowing someone's ideals is part of becoming friends with them, yes?" She found this man interesting, but he also seemed rather brusque and businesslike, and she didn't think he was quite a friend. "But you don't have to agree with someone to think that they should live. If danger comes, I'll, um, do what I can?"

She walked over beside him at the edge of the building and sat down cross legged on the ledge, folding her hands in her lap. "Camelot was a Royal, I think, and I've been to Neptune, yes, and a few other planets, too." She gave a half smile as she squinted down at the city below. "It's beautiful, but strange. Not all good, my wonder. I feel like I need to fix it, and then maybe I can help people more?" She had a few ideas, but Gev didn't seem so interested in space. "So that's what I'm working on. What about you? What brings you out here?"

He didn't care for winders. His was a nightmare and he kept hinself away from it as much as he could. He only managed to secure a small place in it to lock the doors from the wolves that patrolled the place. "Have you met any living Royals? And what would you want to do with your wonder?"

To her question, he shrugged as if it was no biggie what he was doing. "Hunting the Dark Moon Court."

Pendour blinked three times, quick and worried. "Did Camelot die? I hadn't heard." She pushed down her spinning emotions. These things were going to happen. "I hadn't met anyone else."

"Anyway, if I can make sure that my ancestor won't hurt anybody and I can clean up his mess, I might be able to make my wonder into a safe space for people who need it, or even discover something else." Thinking of space made her smile, even in the midst of everything, even thinking of the bones that littered her cove.

And Gevaudan spoke of yet more violence. It was sad. For a moment, the sadness seemed to be too much, and she twisted at her bracelet, but she simply asked, "Not the Negaverse? That's who the rest I've met have told me I should be fighting." She looked up, met his gaze. "Will you tell me more about these people, this court?"

"Not that I know of. I have only met him once. Saw no other reason to see him since and have not seen him attend any gatherings. Your guess is as good as mine as to what he has been up to." He shrugged at that.

"Well you shouldn't just blindly follow things from word of mourh." He pounted out. He wasn't fighting senshi after all.

"The Dark Moon Court is another faction. Kind of like Chaos but something else. Their power isn't that of Metallia. If you train how to decifer one aura to another you can pick it out."

"They aren't the Negaverse and have their own goals and orders. I think to gather energy and find a way off this place or take it over. Doesn't matter. What they are are spineless torturers who will kill whatever they seem fit with no sense of pride. At least the Negaverse will fight you head on as a equal with some sense of honor. The DMC will try amd sneak their attacks in."

"Oh," she said, and the knot in her chest untwisted a little. "I saw him a few months ago." That was all she said on the subject as what he was saying about the Dark Mirror Court seemed much more important and just as disturbing.

"Um," she began, and that was all she managed for a few seconds. "Um, I try to listen to the experiences of others even if it often doesn't give the full picture, but in the case of the Negaverse, the few I've met do seem irrationally violent." She rubbed at the scar on her hand without really thinking about it. "I understand why they're called infected, and it sounds like it's similar with this other court?"

It sounded like something she'd have to be careful of. "Are you trying to help with the Chaos, or just, um, destroy?" With a little effort, she kept her voice calm.

"Well of course they are violent to you. You're their enemy. A treat to the planet Earth. They have been ordered to fight you. You could one day wind up killing them or killing a teammate. It's war, silly. You don't hold hands when you are on opposing sides." He pointed out.

He grimaced at such a word choice. "They aren't infected. It's just another type of energy they are used. They are knights. Just like you and me. The OTHER course aren't knights. They are senshi and they use some other alien power. Don't even compare the two to each other. They are nothing remotely close to each other." And he let his tone reflect how insulted he was for her to be making those comparisons.

Considering the last question, he thought about it. "I'm here to help the world by destroying the Dark Moon Court." Admitting he was aiding the Negaverse in any way was a way to get unwanted attention. "Why do you ask?"

Silly? Was that how she came across? Her smile stayed, but she shook her head and summoned her ocarina, cupping it in her palms. "I don't understand why people think that this makes me a warrior," she said. It was tiny and fragile and beautiful. "In any case, I refuse to be. I'd much rather die than kill." Her bigger fear was that she'd be left damaged and hobbling, but it still seemed worth it to come out at night.

"I understand that I have power, though, and that I am in some ways participating in conflict." She ran her thumbs over the smooth surface of her instrument. "From what I know of power, the source does matter. I hope ours is clean energy, but since it comes from the wonders and planets, it seems natural at least. Chaos is more like fossil fuels, I think. It pollutes." She remembered the strange cat and the broken boy full of holes.

"I'm asking because I'm interested. It's good to know the philosophies of your friends, you said." She smiled. "It doesn't seem like we see quite eye to eye. I don't, um, like the idea of destroying people. Still, it seems you have your reasons, which I can respect."

"You have to try and understand that a Negaverser doesn't live with the same freedoms as us. You are recruited and you are given orders. Energy collection is a quota. A duty. Then you work and show loyalty and prove yourself to earn your promotion. A cat does not decide that. It is a earned promotion and any new recruit knows that the more power they have the likelier they are to live because they have more power and strength to protect themselves and the teammates they grew up around. You are ounished and held accountable for mistskes. Thete is someone there to catch these mistakes. There is responsibility. You don't just decide to not fight. You are expected to and if you don't then you are punished for it."

"So many they aren't violent and instead following orders. They are working to earn a promotion to be stronger to help serve their friends and the community that accepted them."

He crossed his armd as he looked out. "Order knights can decide what they want to do and in that you can decide not to fight. No one will hurt you if you don't and you won't be judged by your peers for it. Your wonder won't come and strip you of your powers or harm you. It expects nothing of you - but isn't that also sad? That no one feels you could do better and guides you with everyone to a shared goal you can all pledge under?"
