Years ago there was a prophecy made that a man would be born with the power to end the world, on his eighteenth birthday Finis discovered a strange power that denoted him as the one to bring about the end world. Ripped away from his family and called a monster he was tossed into a tower to rot. Then his jailers left his prison and he was left alone and abandoned.

For five years he lived alone unable to leave his prison even as it became ruins, that is until one day a stranger intrudes.

Name: Finis

Age: 23

Personality: Extremely skittish and wary, hates being touched due to people in charge of him abusing him. Tends to cycle between rage and fear because he's angry at how he was treated but is terrified he'll wind up hurting people because of his power.

Background: Finis was just a simple young man living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, when the power manifested at first he didn't know what to make of it, he had hear the stories about the prophecy but didn't think it was true. Unfortunately it was confirmed when a rabid wolf attacked him and Finis's power instinctively lashed out not so much killing as disintegrating the wolf. He was then found out and taken away to the tower where he was treated horribly both emotionally and psychically.

User ImageName: Jerico

Age: 32

Personality: Strong and confident, but he has a dark past. He struggles with PTSD from his time as a prisoner of war, occasionally lashing out but for the most part he is friendly.

Background: Jerico was a Captian in the Royal Army when his country went to war with a neighboring land. During one of the battles, he was betrayed by a fellow officer, Captian Lance, and taken captive. He finally broke free and returned to his own people, but the Lance had painted him as the one who betrayed the army and he was put on trial as a traitor. He was found guilty and his execution date was set, but Jerico broke free and killed Lance. He found documents proving his innocence and Lance’s guilt while searching the Captian’s office in his home and left them next to Lance’s body to prove his innocence. Jerico was bitter towards his kingdom and felt betrayed that they would execute him after he’d fought so hard to return to them. He snuck out of the country and has been traveling as a sword for hire ever since. He eventually ended up in some far away country, drinking at a pub when he heard the story of the man who would ‘bring about the world’s end’ being locked away in some tower. He decided to investigate, curious and wanting to see what this ‘monster’ was like. Maybe he could convince someone to pay him for its head. He never expected what he found in that abandoned tower.

User ImageJerico stepped off the road and followed an overrun path until he saw the tower in the distance. It was falling apart and obviously had been abandoned for some time. He frowned to himself and wondered if he was just following some old farmer's superstitions. The old bat probably heard the wind through the windows in the tower or saw some wild animal wandering around and started making up stories. He shrugged and continued on his way. It was worth a look anyways, there might be some things left by the former occupants that he could use or sell. It didn't take long to reach the tower, but Jerico was surprised to see that the door had been bared and locked from the outside. "Hmm, maybe there is something to his tale after all." He looked at the chains and padlocks and frowned, they were rusting through, breaking them would be easy. He got to work with his ax, cutting the locks and pushing away the chains with relative ease. The bar across the doors was rusted in place, but one solid kick had it shoved out of place. "So much for a sneaky entrance," he muttered, shaking his head.

It took some force, but he got the doors open and peered inside. It was dark and he lite a torch before slipping in. He explored for a while, looking for anything useful. There were a few old weapons and some uniforms, but nothing worth anything. Jerico kept his guard up, but he was getting frustrated as this seemed to be more and more of a fool's errand. He went up the final set of stairs, but the door to the last floor was locked with more chains and bars. Jerico lifted an eyebrow, maybe this was it. Could the monster be hidden inside? He rolled his shoulders, readying for an attack before he smashed to locks and kicked the door open. He held his blade in one hand and his ax in the other, crouching low as he looked into the shadows of the room. "Knock, knock, world killer."

Finis stared at the man in shock, and instinctively flattened himself further into the shadows of his room. The man definitely wasn't one of his jailers that was for certain, so why had he come to the tower.

"....What do you want." Finis tried to interject an air of power into his voice but, instead it came out in a scared rasp.

How had the man found the tower? As far as he knew he was a secret to most, they didn't want people to come and murder him, and somehow set off the end of world or something he supposed. The fact that man also had apparently quite handily broken into the tower spoke volumes.

This stranger was a trained fighter.

Finis shivered and shrank back more into the shadows.

User ImageThe scared rasp drew Jerico's attention to where the shadows were the deepest in the room. He frowned, that certainly wasn't the voice of some monster come to end the world. If anything, it sounded like some scared kid. He kept his eyes on the area where the sound had come from, the shadows too deep to see anything, though he heard the other move slightly. Jerico carefully placed his ax on the holder so it lay across his back, his sword still in hand, so he could pick up the torch from where he'd put it down. "Try to attack me and I'll have your head," he warned, moving a little further into the room. He stopped once he was in the center of the room where he would have enough space to maneuver and fight if need be, but was able to light up the room with the light from his torch.

A flash of gold caught his eye and he finally looked upon the prophesied end of the world. For a moment, he stared in surprise. It was only a boy...a very scared, underfed looking boy. Slowly, Jerico straightened from his fighting stance, taking a quick glance around the room. "Is this some sort of trick? I am supposed to believe you are going to destroy all of existence?" He huffed, but kept his sword out just in case. "I came here for a fight and possible bounty. Attacking you would be light fighting a kicked puppy, there is no honor in that." He looked the boy up and down before grumbling to himself, "A waste of time, through and through. Tell me, boy, why are you locked in this tower? Did you commit some crime-" he doubted it, but he needed to know what kind of person he was dealing with before he decided if he should lock him back in the tower before he left.

Finis gave a quiet snort at the man's words, he knew he looked younger than he really was due to his mistreatment. But he had been called worse.

"You already know my crime stranger, why else would you have come here?" He said quietly.

Finis kept his eyes on the man's weapons but moved somewhat closer into the light, if only so he could see the man in turn.

"So were you sent by them then? Came to check to see if I finally up and died?"

Even if the stranger had been sent by his jailers, he wouldn't be able to kill him, his "power" would make sure of that.

User ImageJerico lifted an eyebrow, "Huh, so you were locked in here because someone thought you really were the world killer?" He cocked his head to the side and looked the boy over once more as he slowly moved closer before sheathing his sword, "Don't need this, then. Even if you are the world killer, you don't look like you could fight your way out of a wet bag." He lifted an eyebrow as the boy asked him if he'd been sent to see if he'd died. "No one sent me. I was at a pub and I heard someone talking about how the world killer was locked away to die in a tower. He was more than a few sheets to the wind, so a few well placed questions and I had the location." He shrugged, "Seemed easy enough to check it out. The way he talked, I was expecting some kind of animal. I should have known the guy was full of s**t, he was saying how he used to be a soldier or something before too." Jerico glanced around, "What's your name, then? I'm Jerico."

The guy looked like he was skin and bones and Jerico wondered how long he'd been here. Poor kid. "Here, you look half starved. Let's go to the ground floor, I saw a good sized fire place and what was probably their cooking area. We'll make something to eat and figure things out from there." It was mid afternoon, but he wasn't sure how far it was to the next town. If that crazy drunk had locked this boy in the tower before, he didn't want to go back and let him know he'd be freed. The poor kid would be hunted down and locked up again. Jerico turned and head downstairs, mentally going over his supplies. The kid needed good, hearty food. Something to fill his stomach without being heavy. The best option would be some kind of soup or stew. He got to the first floor and set to making a fire to cook the soup over. He could have easily just turned around and walked away, but that just wasn't Jerico's way. He couldn't help it, he had a thing for saving people. And if anyone needed saving, this kid did. "Do you know how to cook?" he asked as he rummaged through his bags and pulled out various veggies and some dried meat for the soup as well as his cooking pot.

Finis simply stared at the man, that was it? He wasn't even going to test to see if he had that "power"?

"....How do I know you aren't trying to poison me?" He eyed the man's food with suspicion.

To be frank all of this reeked of suspicion to Finis, some random drunkard found out about the tower, when aside from his jailers for the last five years no one knew if he was even alive? That just smelled of some kind of setup.

He looked at the now open front door from the corner of his eye and debated on whether he should make a break for it, but he didn't know what it was like out there right now. A part of Finis also didn't want to chance it if it was some kind of setup.

User ImageJerico huffed, "Poisoning you would mean poisoning myself. Kinda stupid, if you ask me. But you don't have to eat if you don't want, I won't force you." He got to making their meal and when everything was in his pot and bubbling away, he sat on one of the abandoned chairs. "You can walk out the door, if you want. I won't chase after you. There'd be no point." He could tell the kid was scared, his body language was easy enough to read, but it was his eyes that gave it away. If Jerico was honest with himself, those eyes were breathtaking. He'd happily stare into them for as long as the kid would let him. He was careful not to stare too lone, though, he didn't want to scare the boy any more than he already was.

"So, you going to tell me your name, or not?"

"It's Finis" He said and then turned away and headed for the front door, he took a few steps forward and then stopped taking in his first view of the outside world in five years.

Finis simply stared up at the sky and let the wind blow through his hair, "Ah...was the sky always so blue before?" He thought wonderingly.

It was a few minutes later that he realized that tears were slowly making their way down his cheeks. He gave a soft huff and scrubbed at his face with his dirty hands.

"I can't believe i'm getting teary eyed over seeing the damn sky, how pathetic." He muttered.

User ImageFinis, an interesting name. He watched the other walk to the door and actually thought he was going to walk out when he stopped and just stared outside. Jerico shrugged and got up to check the stew, but when he heard the soft huff, he looked over to see Finis wiping his eyes. He walked over in time to hear his mutterings and his frown deepened. "How long have you been in here, Finis?" he asked softly, worried. He had a sinking feeling that Finis had been locked in this tower for months, if not, years. He wanted to put a hand on the boy's shoulder, but he didn't think his touch would be welcome.

"Why do you care?" It wasn't an accusation it was a genuine question, they barely knew each other and the man had been basically attempting to kill him when they met.

Finis let out a quiet sigh, "it's been five years....at least I think it has, I stopped counting after my second year.

User ImageJerico smiled softly, placing his hands on his hips, "Why shouldn't I care?" He shrugged, "So what if you are the end of the world, right now I just see someone who needs help." When he heard that Finis thought he had been here for five years his stomach clenched. "Good god, how did you survive?" He glanced around again, obviously there had been guards or jailers at one point, but how long had they been gone? Had that drunken idiot really been one of the men who worked here. From the look of Finis, he hadn't been treated well. And then to just abandon him? Jerico shook his head, "It probably doesn't mean much, but I'm sorry. The stew should be ready, if you want some." He stepped away, giving the other space, and walked to the pot, serving up two bowls. He put them on the table and started to eat his own, showing Finis that it was safe.

"My "power" keeps me alive...for the most part anyways, after all can't have person destined to ruin the world die before they do their job right?" He said bitterly and gave a quiet scoff at the man's apology.

"It's been about....a year I guess after everyone left, I don't know why they left and don't really care. If any deity gets mad at them for not doing their job well that's their business not mine."

Finis did stare at the soup though, it had been so so long since he had any kind of food. Keeping a wary eye on the man he immediately snatched the bowl when it was in reach and kept close to chest as if it was gonna be stolen back.

"Truthfully..." He began in between bites of the stew. "I'm not entirely sure if it's better out there for me anyways, I....don't have anyone anymore. My family denounced me as a monster when they took me away, I was just thrown away until I had a use"

User ImageJerico made sure to keep his movements slow and predictable. He didn't want to scare the skittish boy in front of him any more than he already was. "A year? There wasn't any supplies up in your room, so-" he frowned, "is this the first thing you've eaten in a year?" He felt a little ill at the thought of such abuse, but by the way Finis was guarding his food, Jerico doubted that was the only abuse he'd suffered. Finis said he had no one and Jerico could relate, "We are the same in that, you and I. I was framed as a traitor, tried and on the way to be hung. Everyone I knew turned against me, wouldn't believe me. But, that's ancient history from an old man. How old were you when you were taken? You seem young, but that could be a result of malnutrition as well."
