Kaimi was currently out and about, following a trail that he hoped would bring him to something really good as far as a good crystals went. He felt that he was getting closer to his goal every day, meaning that he ended up heading out earlier and earlier each morning in hopes of finding a treasure trove of crystals that would give him enough to trade for a place of his own. The closer he got to his goal the more he found himself asking where it was that he might want to live. There were a few villages to pick from after all, though he definitely wanted to move out of Salicora so he didn't have to deal with his brother much longer.
Pausing for a moment as he felt a little buzz in his barbels Kaimi gave a wide smile. He was certain now that he was above the spot where the crystal he was tracking was located. From here on out it was a matter of digging his his power didn't tell him how deep he had to dig, just that he was somewhere above a crystal or gemstone.
"Alright! Time to get to work." He said before he settled down on the muddy swamp bottom and set to work digging, instantly kicking up a cloud of dirt and debris into the water.

Liloa started her day by wandering around. At first, she had no idea what she wanted to do today, but soon, she came to the conclusion of playing in the swamp. The day was quite hot, so she wanted to go play somewhere cool, the swamp. She slowly walked towards the swamp, and as she got closer, she saw a mini cloud of dirt. Curious, she walked closer and saw someone digging. Careful to not get too close because of what her parents tell her, Liloa asked, "Hey! What are you doing?" After all, why would someone be digging in a swamp? Maybe he was looking for something. Or maybe he had something he wanted to hide. She could see many reason if she thought about digging in a swamp, but at first, the idea seemed strange to her.Orpheus Solon oo sorry I thought i had replied but i hadn't sent

Kaimi gave pause in what he was doing when he heard a voice speaking up, asking him what it was that he was doing. Lifting a hand he waved it from side to side a bit, clearing the water a little, before he said, "Doing a bit of digging for treasure." It seemed that whenever he was out at work he always drew the attention of someone. Not that he minded though since he rather enjoyed having someone to talk to. Even if it was a short conversation between those who were swimming passed. Giving a smile he turned back to the hole he'd started digging, his barbels giving a rapid twitch. It was still down there so despite his digging thus far he hadn't gotten deep enough into the muddy ground. That meant he had to keep at it if he wanted to find whatever crystal or gem was calling to him.

Liloa continued to watch the older Menehune dig. It was interesting. He said he was digging for treasure. Liloa was wondering what kind of treasure. She herself liked to collect cool things. So, the thought of treasure made her excited. She was imagining all sorts of things like gems, secret hidden items, etc. Now, Liloa really wanted to watch and see what the older Menehune would pull out of the ground. But, she remembered what her parents had said to her about being safe. She wasn't sure what she should do. Should she just go on her way like her parents would have wanted, or should she do some self adventuring and see what this stranger was up to? Liloa decided to stay. After all, it was boring just hanging out with just yourself.
She picked out a place and sat down. The water was quite deep so only the top of her head popped out of the water. There she sat waiting and waiting to see something sparkly come out of the ground. After a while, just watching became a bit boring. So Liloa decided to start up a conversation. Might as well not be strangers, then maybe if they weren't strangers.. her parents wouldn't worry if they found out about this?
"Hey! So...uhm my name is Liloa," she said. And then she just waited for a response. Sometimes conversation starters went well, and sometimes they didn't. Hopefully this was one of the good times.

Kaimi glanced over at the girl as she settled down somewhat near to where he was located. He gave a smile before he returned to his digging, certain that he was getting closer treasure, mostly because the hole he was digging quite deep now. He paused only when he heard the girl's voice once more, introducing herself to him. Giving a smile he said as he continued to dig around, "It's nice to meet you, Liloa. My name is Kaimi." It was always nice to meet new people in his mind. His digging paused when the tips of his fingers brushed against something that was most certainly not mud, "Ah!" His eyes went a bit wide as he starred down at the crystal that was poking out of the mud. It seemed as though he'd finally found his prize. Wrapping his hand around the mud caked crystal gave it a pull, finding himself with a good sized yellow crystal, "Ahhh, this is a nice one. Gonna have to break it down though so I can actually make use of it... unless I want to trade the whole thing off for something big." He seemed to be musing to himself out loud as he rinsed the crystal off so he could get a better look at it. It was far too big to be set in a piece of jewelry... unless someone wanted a big, gaudy piece, but it was definitely valuable. He just had to decide how it would be the most valuable to him. Only time and a lot of deep thought would tell.

Woah! He just pulled something shiny out of the ground. That was unbelievable to Liloa. She had gone out to look for "treasure" but that was nothing compared to what she just saw. The crystal was a rather big one. Usually she would see people wear jewelry, but they were always small crystals, and this one, was bigger than those. It must be priceless! The crystal was a pretty yellow color, and although, it was still rather dull, Liloa could already see the sparkles of the crystal when it was cleaned up.
Liloa was so excited. She started jumping up and down. This was her first time finding treasure that was really valuable. "Wow! this is so cool!" Liloa shouted as the jumped, "Is this what you do everyday?"
She was interested in this menehune more now. It was interesting. If he did this everyday, Liloa wanted to be like him. How cool would it be to find treasure like that everyday? That is amazing! She stopped jumping and walked over to him. "Mind if i poke it just a bit?" she asked.

Kaimi gave a little jump when the girl suddenly started to jump up and down, a bit surprised by it. Maybe because he'd never had anyone react in such an excited manner before when he produced treasure before? Sure they were impressed but not jumping up and down impressed. It was something that caused him to smile from ear to ear, his cheeks coloring a bit, "Thanks. It was a pretty good find." Giving a rapid nod of his head he said, "Yeah, this is pretty much it as far as how I spend a lot of my time. I was blessed by the Goddess Uukai and I find myself able to track such things." He'd made a decent job of it as well. No reason to squander such a blessing after all. As she asked if she could poke at the crystal he gave a nod and handed it over to her, "Sure, I don't mind." If she wanted to check it out it would be pretty rude of him since she'd been a good audience up to now. Not to mention that she didn't exactly strike him as the thieving sort so he didn't worry in any manner about letting her inspect the yellow crystal.

Liloa thought it was really cool Kaimi was blessed. That just sounded cool. Although she probably didn't completely know what it meant, it had a nice ring to it. Liloa nodded at him happily. She thought all that was cool, but her attention was focused mostly on the crystal. So, she then proceeded to reach for the crystal.
The yellow crystal felt cool when Liloa poked it. It wasn't super smooth like she was used to, but it still felt good and cool. She didn't want to let go of this yellow crystal. Liloa held on for a while, but quickly retracted her hand when she realized she had help on for longer than a second. That wasn't a poke! What if Kaimi was furious. "Sorry," Liloa said as she removed her hand, "It's just so cool to touch." Liloa slowly lifted her head to see his reaction.
While she was looking at him, Liloa's mind jumped to many scenarios. What if he was mad...what should she do. Maybe she could make a run for it? What if he told her parents? All of it seemed terrible.

Kaimi gave a nod of his head, "It's a pretty interesting crystal, I agree. Must have absorbed the cold feeling from the mud that it was buried in." He said, not seeming as though he was upset at all. Instead he was studying the crystal again, as though he could figure out the reason that it was able to still feel so cold even after being handled. Likely due to it's size and the fact that it was buried for so long. It would likely take a while to warm up. "Ah! Did you want a piece? I see a little stress fracture right here. It wouldn't be too hard to break this section off." As he spoke he looked around, searching for a rock. Once he'd found it he scooped it up and after a moment more of studying the yellow crystal he gave said crystal a solid thump with the rock. The hit resulted in the stress fracture giving way, causing a small piece of the crystal, enough to make a necklace out of, to pop off. Once it was done he returned the rock to the ground and offered the girl the piece if she wanted it. Even after taking the piece off there was still a lot left to work with making this one of the more valuable pieces he'd found. He'd definitely put it to good use once he decided exactly how to do exactly that. He was in no rush to get it figured out right this moment though.

Liloa was really glad the mister was not mad at her. He could have thought she was going to steal it or something, but he didn't. He even gave her a small piece of the crystal that he smashed off. It could have probably gotten him a lot of money, but he just gave it Liloa for free. Liloa happily took the piece. Wow, it was so small. It was like the size people in the village hand hung around their necks. Maybe she could do that too? That seemed really cool. Liloa would have a pretty crystal to add to her collection, and she could show it off. Plus, she wondered, 'Does the yellow look good on me?' She was so excited. She started dancing around Kaimi.
After a while, she got tired from all that movement and settled down in a cool spot near him. He looked like he was in deep thought as he stared at the crystal. "Hey!! Whatchu thinking about mister?" Liloa asked out loud. Whoops! That was supposed to stay in her head. Well, it's too late now.

"Hm?" He glanced over at Liloa before he gave a smile, "Just trying to figure out what I want to do with the crystal. It would likely be good for trading on its own but I might be better off if broke it into smaller pieces to make into jewelry." He didn't mind explaining it to her since she seemed curious about the work that he did. It seemed like it would be a lot less work if he just traded off the crystal to someone. He gave a half shrug then said, "I will have to consider it. For now I should probably continue with my digging. I can sort of sense another crystal." It wasn't super close to where they were so it was just a light hum that indicated its existence to Kaimi. He doubted it would be anything nearly as good as the yellow crystal but that didn't mean that he should skip out on it by any means.

Liloa decided to stick around. It was cool how even when it came to just finding precious crystals, there was more to consider than just making money by selling it. It certainly seemed complicated to Liloa. But now, she had learned something today. She learned where the crystals came from and how they were made into necklaces and bracelets. It was like the life cycle of a crystal, in a way.
As Liloa stuck around and watched Kaimi dig some more, she found another comfortable position in the cool mud. She watched him curiously. "Mister! How do you know where the crystals are? Or do you just dig until you find one?" Liloa asked, curiously. It did seem strange that Kaimi had just been digging for a short while in just one area and found a crystal already. With so much land around them, was he just lucky or did he have some kind of locating device? Or maybe the whole swamp was just covered in crystals?

"Hmmm... that is a good question. I get this sort of... buzzing feeling in my barbels. That is the blessing that I was given from Uukai, or at least that is how I always interpreted the ability." He said as he dug around in the mud, searching for the newest crystal that he'd found a distance away from the last hole that he'd been digging around in. He wondered if it would be as amazing as the yellow one. Somehow deep down though he knew that it wouldn't be, mostly because he'd never seen a crystal quiet the size of the yellow before. As such he couldn't let himself get all flustered and start to think everything would be so impressive. As he dug he said, "I just sort of follow the buzz to where it's the strongest and I just dig until I find something." It was mostly luck if you asked him, luck that the Goddess had thought to bless him with such an ability.

Liloa continued to watch Kaimi dig. He was getting quite deep already, but there was no crystal to be found yet. Maybe crystals weren't all easy to dig up. The earlier one was just eager to see the sunlight of the world. Then maybe this next crystal wanted to just hide from the sun and the world, and it just wanted to stay in the mud where it was comfortable. It's a shame that the crystal doesn't know that when it leaves the comfort of the land, it will find itself looking beautiful around the neck of someone. 'Don't fear little crystal,' Liloa thought as she started thinking about Kaimi's response to her question.
'Hmmmmm,' Liloa thought, 'so he just felt a buzz?' That was strange. It is like he is a crystal detector. It was also cool though. But would he feel a buzz if he were near a crystal in general or a buried crystal? "Oh! That's cool," Liloa called out, "But, does that mean when you are in town you buzz all the time? Especially when you are around people with jewelry?" That would be funny. Liloa could imagine Kaimi walking around town with his barbels buzzing.

Kaimi paused in his digging so that he could consider her question. It was something that he actually thought about a lot just due to the fact that he didn't really seem to have any reaction in town or around crystals that he'd just dug up. It was a really weird thing if you asked him, completely oblivious to how the power he had worked. Turning to look over at Liloa he said, "Oddly enough it doesn't work like that. It seems that the only time they buzz is when I am seeking new crystals and them up. When I am in town or when I am handling the crystals I've dug up in the town there is zero buzz." Turning back to the hole he was digging he found himself wondering if he should look more into the blessing he'd gotten. Surely someone else must know what the blessing meant, how he got it, how exactly it worked. At the same time though he didn't want to seem as though he was insulting a Goddess by questioning her gift. He should tread carefully he warned himself before his digging continued. After a time he lifted up a much smaller crystal, a blue one this time, and he set to wiping it off in the water so he could get a good look at it, "A blue one this time." He told his singular audience member.
