Emmerate was a pirate, through and through. The sea called to him, and he went to where he was called. However; pirating didn't come easy. And although the bounty when he was able to find something was...well...enough to make him live lavishly at port there were also days in which he had no money and nothing was done.
A pirates life was for him, but he did have to admit, it was harder than it looked. Kids may boast about there were no rules, so it would be easy as pie. That anyone could be a pirate. Most of those kids dropped out in the first week because they couldn't handle the heat.
Even Emmerate was struggling to survive the long lack of coin drought that he was now experiencing. His ship had to be in port due to the damage to the hull. It took all of the coin that he had gotten and then some. Usually, he'd get things done himself. The crew never had to worry about paying their share into any damage costs. Emmerate set aside enough out of his cut to deal with it. This time though...the expense was a bit too much. His crew had to shovel in their own piece of the pie in order for it to be fixed.
And now? They were all left at port. He? Not a dime to his name. At least his crew could afford grub and somewhere to stay the night. The captain sighed, head cast low as he heard one of his men hollering about doing some stupid antic. If he wound up in the hospital he wouldn't be able to afford the bill.
Just what was he to do...
There was a crash next to him, making him jolt and reach for the knife that he had in his pocket on reflex. His eyes darted up, ready for a skirmish. But what he saw...Was normal. Just one of his crew falling up against a wall. Phew, no issue. He slowly placed the knife back in his pocket. At least he wouldn't have to pay for that damage. Hopefully.
But what his crewman smashed into was a blessing in disguise. A flyer fluttered onto the table that Emmerate sat on, making his purple eyes widen. Curiously, he picked up the now wrinkled and slightly tattered piece of paper. Just what---. His eyes fluttered, surprised. Money for giving magic to the cache?
That didn't sound like a bad idea. Giving up his own magic to help the cause...without the price of having to take care of the kids! It sounded like a win-win. The money would allow him to last for a few days out on land. Maybe a few of his crew could be convinced to donate as well...
"I'm going to help populace the world, boys!" he shouted out, giving a whoop with his grin as he stuffed the paper in his pocket. It was already wrinkled, it wasn't like it was going to hurt it any. Still readable. A rough laugh left his lips.
Whomever used his magic to imbue stones was going to be in a world of trouble. Any of his kids were probably going to wreck havoc. There was no better way to have a good time!
