Meztli had been put to the task of reorganizing a section of the scrolls on hunting areas. Many of the older scrolls were starting to show their age in both out dated information (having been from the pridal territory before their new home) and wear. The edges were very frayed and some of the scrolls had unforgivable amounts of dust and stains on them. These scrolls were relatively useless to the pride but not all the information, such as hunting tactics, was obsolete. Meztli was meticulously going through each scroll and jotting down the useful information she could get.

Time was starting to pass by and she was starting to feel it was a good time to wrap things up for the day. Carefully, she mouthed the edges of her current open scroll to roll the thing up.

There was a flash before her eyes and Meztli could feel something was off. Her seer ability wasn't fully telling her what it was but something was off. The lioness stiffened as the scroll unfolded it self from her maw hanging by only one edge.

Tremors. Violent and reckless tremors erupted with in the library knocking stacks of scrolls to the ground and unfolding several of them as well as letting loose a few stalactites in the process. Meztli had to brace her self and firmly ground her self to not fall over.

The shaking felt likes minutes but the event had only been seconds. By the end the library was a mess. Meztli stood there in shock not sure if she should get to work folding and organizing or if she should run in terror from the tremors. First glowing oceans now all of this weirdnesS?

It was nice to get some peace and quiet. For as much as he loved his companion jackal, she could be... overbearing at times. Today though, she'd chosen to stay curled up in their den. Apparently all the excitement recently had worn her down. Ren couldn't help but smile softly at the thought, remembering her flopped over form snoring on the ground. But now he was at work, and shaking his head, the lion tried to concentrate on the task at hand -- a few misplaced scrolls had been lying around, and deciding to bring them back to their home, the lion was quietly making his way to the library.

The tremors that started then pulled a yelp out of him, the scrolls falling from his mouth in the process, and he crouched low to the ground to try and keep himself from falling over. Closing his eyes tight, Renshu huddled in that spot until it finally passed.

That certainly wasn't normal. Warily opening his eyes, the scribe's ears were pulled back against his head and he scanned the cavern walls. When nothing else happened, he pulled himself up, snatched the scrolls in his mouth, and hurried to the library, thankfully only a few paces ahead of him.

Poking his head through the entryway, the brown lion mumbled around the scrolls, "Is- is anyone in here?" It wasn't uncommon for other scribes to be in here, and there were a lot of things that could fall on them. "Are you okay?"

Meztli wish she could be braver but the tremor had quite literally shaken her and it was hard to keep a brave face. The voice she heard was welcomed as she rushed to Ren with tears in her eyes quite frightened.

"I-I can't believe it that these tremors would shake our library. OH HAVEN and just..." She looked behind her at the mess behind that laid on the floor. "I'm not sure what to do ... I'm trying to be brave but its starting to become too much and I can't...." She sniffled some quite embarrassed.

Meztli was a seer but her seer powers were not something she could control and often vague in their meaning. Lately, with all the weirdness going on in the pride she couldn't help but feel a little resentful that her seer powers had not even hinted at anything like this. She'd been completely blind sided by everything that had happened since she had traveled to these new lands. The storm, the glowing ocean and the craziness now were not something she predicted and she had to wonder if her seer powers were gone.

"Oh... I'm sorry Ren.. I ... Umm.. I need to clean up," She turned to go tend to the scrolls.

No sooner had he said something than someone rushed over. Luckily for him, it was someone he at least knew, so he wouldn't have to fumble in front of a stranger.

But Meztli's reaction to the shaking was a bit heartbreaking, and now Ren wished that Mangguo was here. She was better at cheering people up. He, on the other paw, was still learning how to socialize, and comforting was new ground for him. His ears flicked up as she turned away, clearly embarrassed over her reaction, and he frowned. There was nothing wrong with feeling scared over these changes -- he felt the same! -- and he floundered for a second as he tried to figure out what to do.

... He decided to just play it by ear.

"I-it's..." He cleared his throat and shook his head, moving to drop the scrolls in his mouth on the ground next to him, "It's okay to feel unnerved by it all. Well, it's not okay that it's happening, not at all, but well..." He wasn't very good at this, he thought with a sigh. The lion gazed around the library, and then moved forward to help clean up the fallen scrolls.

"It scares me too," though he supposed that wasn't saying much, "We finally found a home, and so many unfamiliar things are happening!"

While there were still tears in her eyes; Meztli let her self chuckle a bit. It was small at first but slowly became more apparent that she was laughing.

"I'm sorry I don't mean to laugh at you..." She lowered head some a little ashamed, "Its just that I'm glad I'm not the only one with these feelings. I have never dealt with something so mysterious and frightening before.. See ... " She took a breath, "My father was a divine and I have seer abilities but nothings been shown to me about any of these events. It's quite frustrating if I'm going to be honest," She continued to pick up the scattered scrolls sniffling some of the last of her tears out of her eyes.

"I love this pride. I wouldn't dream of being anywhere else... but I am not sure what to make with all these strange things I suppose. It would be nice if I .." She shook her head. There were many lions who lived with no seer abilities who got on just fine so maybe she was being completely insensitive to that fact.

"Sorry I'm rambling on.."

Her laughter hadn't been what he was expecting, so he just blinked in response, confused more than insulted. Then he gave a shaky smile back, "It's fine. You seem kind of stressed out." He cocked his head to the side, glancing over at the walls as if they were about to start shaking again, "That is weird...." He knew a little about the divine and consequent seer powers thanks to speaking with Anza, but he would never say he completely understood.

"Perhaps... it's just something that not even the divine could have seen." Which was a scary concept in and of itself. What could be happening that not even they knew of? "I wonder if any of the gods living here know anything, but then, I guess they would have said something." Or maybe not, if it wasn't for mortals to know.

Ren laughed shakily then, "Oh, I know a thing or two about rambling. I don't mind." He scooted a few scrolls back into place, "What were you going to say?"

Hearing that the gods had not even for seen what was to happen here actually gave the lioness some mild comfort. It was bitter sweet because on one hand she wasn't completely useless but on the other things were still very weird and unpredictable. This information was bitter sweet.

"I was going to say it would be nice if I saw things but its not really fair of me to feel that way.. Many lions go their entire life with no seer gifts and many get on just fine. I think the tremor shook me a bit and I was over reacting..." She may have been just a tad condescending in her reasoning as well but Meztli meant no harm.

She continued to pick up scrolls and put them in place.

"Wheres your jackal friend?" A change of subject would be nice was what her brain was thinking.

He wondered what it was like, seeing things before they happened. He'd probably like it -- he wouldn't have to worry about what not to say in that case -- but he imagined Mangguo would find life boring. "It's mostly filled with having to figure things out on your own." He mused, "You can't control what's happening most of the time, so you have to adapt. It doesn't make things like this easy, but...." He cocked his head to the side, "it's life, I suppose."

Ren laughed, "Sorry, now I'm rambling." The lion shook his head as they changed subject, fine with trying to turn the conversation away from the scarier topic of current events.

"Sleeping, last I checked." He snorted, "It's not often she decides she's tired, but when she is, she goes down hard." His brow furrowed, "Although... I bet the shaking woke her up, and she's probably wreaking havoc around the caverns now." That wasn't a good thing. Maybe he should hurry up and go track her down.

Ren had a good point that being a none seer was just life for most. Seer powers weren't something that Meztli had mastery over and her visions had never been predictable. Her visions happened when they felt like and usually were very cryptic which could be annoying but for her this was also just life. It was a privilege to have her seer powers and that was something she needed to remember.

"You're not rambling at all," She smiled, "I'm enjoying your insight. Thank you for being so honest.... I admit I probably usually am one that can't rely on visions... It makes me feel so useless some times that I can't control them." She was getting down again which was dumb. Meztli shook her head.

"But ... Ohhhhhh maybe we should check on her to see if the tremors woke her... or if something got shook loose... or .." Now she was worrying.

Renshu smiled back at her, glad that he wasn't annoying her, and then grimaced again at the thought of Mangguo. Not that he didn't want to see her or check up on her, but more that... he was fairly certain she was wreaking havoc on some poor unsuspecting lion. Where Meztli was worried about her safety, Ren was worried that she was bouncing through the halls like a rocket. Or worse -- pranking people. He knew that there was at least one pair roaming the caverns, scaring people with the strange voices, and he'd been hoping that Mangguo wouldn't run into them.

So with a nod, the lion surveyed the library. "Well, I think everything here is in order again. Hopefully the shaking won't loosen it all again." He paused, "Maybe we should consider securing the scrolls somehow, keep them from coming loose." A thought he'd maybe bring up to the other scribes sometime.

But for now, he decided that it was time to track down Mangguo. Turning towards the door, he sighed, "I'd best search for her. You don't mind helping me look?"

"Securing the scrolls... hmmm yes. I think that .." Meztli was trailing off in thought as she looked around the library. These tremors were becoming more and more frequent and it would help a great deal if there was some sort of rope or vine used to secure the scrolls. But that could wait for now as Ren brought up Mangguo which was much more important.

"Well of course I'll go with you. Would you care to lead the way? " The lioness wanted to make sure that happy little jackal pup was safe a lot more than she cared about these scrolls. She should have thought to check on others after the tremor instead of worrying about picking up these dumb scrolls.

Okay the scrolls weren't dumb but they weren't as important as her fellow pride members lives.

The striped lion gave a nod, "I appreciate the help then. We can come back later to figure out a way to secure these books." Plus it would give them time to grab supplies they might need. Perhaps some of the others might have ideas too? Or at least they could warn them of the dangers for now.

"She was sleeping in my den." He gestured forward as he started walking, "So that's probably where we should start." And with that, he made his way out the door.
