SunClan are the spirits of the deceased Warrior ancestors, descendants, and clanmates of the clan cats. Taking the form of their choice, they live on, with the sun in their fur, in a place called the Great Sunning Stones where they may live as normal a life as they so choose. There is always prey and there are no tasks to do, so most SunClan cats are content to watch from the sun. But SunClan cats are not bound to the sky. When the sun rises in the living world, most will come back down to walk among the clans as invisible spirits.
It is the duty of SunClan Warriors to gently guide the clans through omens and prophecies. They act as guardians, watching over those in their former clan, cats they were close to, or even cats they've never met. SunClan can appear in a living cat's dreams, but, should they so choose, they can appear to waking cats as well, although this is very rare.
Medicine Cats are closely bonded to SunClan. Every half-moon, the Medicine Cats and their Apprentices gather at their sacred spot, the High Rock, to speak with their ancestors. Clan Leaders also hold a deep connection to SunClan. They often receive warnings and omens to help lead their clans. While these are the two cats most connected to SunClan, they can chose to speak with whoever they want, should they possess the ability to hear them.
SunClan has the greatest role during leadership ceremonies, giving the new leader their nine lives and new name. Each of the lives are granted by a single ancestor, usually a cat the new leader had cherished when the cat was alive such as a loved family member or mentor. When a life is granted to a leader, they are given a special gift or attribute to make them a good leader, such as endurance, courage or strength.
