It had been a few months now since the circus, and Glens fun fun trips to the hospital to stitch his face and then treat him for an infection to the wound (how it developed after the initial treatment was anyone but Glens guess, but he frigging knew it was that damn youma elephant), and in that time the only thing he was able to do was either lay at home, terribly self conscious of his facial injury but too stubborn to admit and finish his application and eventual registration for his third year of college. But now here he was, in the terrible summer heat, messenger bag clinging to his shoulder and clothes in an uncomfortable way, thankful he decided he wanted to wear short shorts.
Hey, he may hate knee length shorts, but he never said a word about short shorts and swim shorts.
Why was he in this heat, one may wonder. Well sadly, he was a young man of twenty one, on the prowl for a job lest his mother nag him for being lazy, and somehow thriving in the ninety five degree weather in that business suit of hers. One day, he would figure out her secret, or catch her fanning herself once she thought he left the room. For now though, at every interview he had, he grabbed a few more applications from different stores around the city, because babysitting that holy terror Abby only paid so much, and not quite ready to show his face for the job he used to do.
Near the end of this particular day, Glen happened to run into another young man while walking towards a bakery he had seen and hoped might be hiring, because he needed to desperately re hone his baking skills before the summer ended and classes started. This young man was very familiar though. Shorter than him, an eyepatch, Glen may have only hung out with him once but he had regretted losing contact with the other young man, a tragedy that was one part his fault, the other his secret love for the circus and tigers. Damn that circus.
“Benji?” Glen called, once he was sure thats who he was looking at.

It was strange, feeling so spoiled. For the first time in about four years Benji had taken a summer off from work. While a place remained for him once he went back to school, he left the eatery to actually enjoy the time off thanks to the generosity of his new roommate. The other had insisted that he relax for once, and hey, if they wanted to pay for everything for a while, sure, he wasn't going to complain!
That being said, he was still out and about in the city, baseball cap, t-shirt and shorts on while he took a walk. His apartment was nearby, but his stomach was grumbling for something other than Ramen and Hot Pockets so here he was, about to step into the bakery when he heard his name called.
"Huh? Oh! Hey!" It was hard to miss that fluff of blond, and it took a moment but Benji finally remembered where he had seen him before! It had been, what, like five months since he saw him last? Of course, he wasn't about to forget him since it WAS his first date, kinda sorta, but they hadn't kept in touch. Stuff was happening for him, and he was sure stuff was happening for Glen too. Couldn't blame him one bit.
"It's been a while, hasn't it? Glen right? How are you doing?"

Glen felt it when his smile turned awkward. He didn't really know why it had, maybe it was just second run in jitters? Yeah, that was it. He lightly felt at the scar on his face, a new nervous tick he had. "I'm good. I've just been trying to find something that's not babysitting that I can do when classes start back up, I've been applying to the bakeries and bakery sections at grocery stores." He sighed, the stress and failure that was eating at him about it releasing just a bit as he talked. "I haven't had luck so far, and I think this is my last attempt for awhile." Because his time was up after this week, he knew that, school would be beginning and he had some last minute documents to fill and file.
He managed to shake the thoughts for a bit, smiling a bit more happily. He did like this guy after all, and it was good fortune he'd see him again, so that was definitely something to be positive about. "How about you? Is it your day off?" He asked, noticing his casual clothes.

"Seriously, bakeries? Damn, I hope you find something! I can hit you up for leftovers then! Hehe... wouldn't that be nice." Benji did notice the fiddling with the scar, and... Damn, he wanted to know what was going on with that, but even he knew that there was some sort of Taboo that came with pointing out people's flaws, no matter how cool they were.
"Well, don't give up! Don't forget to check places like Boba Tea joints and Cafes. They seem to like baking stuff all the time too so maybe they'd need more help there, along with the whole Barista thing too. It is my day off though, yeah. Wanted something to eat besides instant ramen, you know?" The idea of seeing Glen in a little Visor and a cute apron was sort of appealing. He had that sort charming and charismatic smile that would definitely earn alot of tips. Not like Benji, who's scowl forced him into the back of the kitchen about 90% of the time.
The urge to ask about the scar was too much and, well, he never did have that good of a censor.
"So it looks like you got some cool battle woulds too! Now we're scar buddies!" At that he slightly lifted his eyepatch, showing the scared skin around it from the surgery he had to get. Not enough to show the empty socket though. "Can I ask what happen? It kinda makes you look... I dunno. Kinda really hot. Besides the fact that it looks like you're melting out here."

"Oh, I hadn't even considered those!I'll be sure to check that out too!" Thank goodness he had run into Benji, he really had tunnel vision over job hunting, and didn't even think he could expand his options now. Plus, he could use the additional barista training. He blushed at Benji's comment the scar looked hot. "I can treat you to lunch, if you like? And, I guess i can tell you what happened, it's pretty embarrassing, and a little personal, so i'd rather not be, you know, standing outside." He scratched at the scar. He wouldn't be totally honest, but it's not like he didn't actually have a pretty good story for it in case he ran into a nosy person. Generally he'd plan to look at them in an accusing way and make them feel guilty for asking, but he wasn't going to do that with a friend, plus, he knew this would be good for establishing a bond.

"Mm.... Yeah, sure. Any places you wanna go to?" Benji honestly wasn't expecting for Glen to go along with the idea of showing off the scar and telling tales of epic battles, but hey, he wasn't about to say no!
"Though... Since you're job hunting, you sure I can't treat you instead to a meal? I got some spare cash, as long as you aren't looking to go to some super upscale place. Burgers maybe? Ooh, or some pizza sounds excellent. What say you?"

Glen thought, not wanting anything in particular, though pizza did sound good. "Pizza works, any place you have in mind? And honestly I have the cash to spare, I don't mind paying at all!" And he really did, he was set for awhile if he wanted to be honest, he just wanted to make sure what was there paid bills and tuition when the time came. But hell, this was pizza, he would be fine.

"s**t man, I don't know. I used to work at a pizza joint over on 12th, but because of that, I have no damned idea where to go. They made me take a pledge never to eat anywhere but there, and 12th is a hellava way off." That was on the complete opposite side of town, back closer to his mom's house than Caleb's.
"You got your phone on you, right? Let's look up some places and see what's the best. And let's get you some water before you pass the ******** out."

Glen had already decided not to eat there. A place that makes you exclusively eat their food didn't particularly sound ideal. He pulled out his phone, quickly finding a pizza place nearby. "What about this one? It seems like one of those hole in the wall places thatll either be the best food we ever ate or crap." Since really, hole in the wall food places did not have an in-between as far as Glen was concerned.

"Mm, yeah, that sounds good. If it's edible, I ain' picky." Once they had found what they were looking for, Benji headed of without a second thought. It was pretty closeby, and even had air conditioning! How perfect!
"So what's your plans for the year? Going back to school and all that?"

Glen appreciated the ac, having not really felt any all today. "Ah yeah, it's my last year, or well, hopefully it will be, i ended up having to take two months off so that set me back." He thought of his face, and the surgeries and recovery, and cursed himself for that stupid move for the thousandth time since he'd done it. "Anything in particular you wanna order? " Personally, he was just gonna maybe eat two slices and a salad, because he wasnt sure how the heat would fair on him if he ate anything more heavy.

Before he could say anything else, Benji's phone began to ring. While he tried to ignore it... He did end up answering.
"Hello... Wait wait, wait, calm down... Okay, fine, fine, no problem, give me ten minutes." Ugh... Of ******** course this would happen...
"Hey Glen.." He seemed a little uneasy to talk about this.. But what could he do? "So my apartment is apparently being leaked into from above and they need to be let in as soon as possible. I'm gonna have to go... Should we have a rain check?"
Kaname Kyoto If you want, we can wrap this up! They've had a long a** summer XD
