Seren was well known for being useless when it came to responsibilities. He would avoid them at all costs. There was even a case where he disappeared right in front of his father to reappear walking down the street just far enough away to no longer "hear" his father's requests. All of the Academy teachers who had had Seren in their class knew of this bad trait of his. They were all concerned for his future. The only thing that kept them from saying too much was that he was passing his classes. (It was frustrating when they all knew he could do better.)It came as a shock to everyone when Seren put in that he wished to actually continue his education after graduating. The young Geist was beaming with pride as he announced he would be going to his hometown's local community college for Early Childhood Education. Seren had always shined when around freshlings so it seemed appropriate. He even had a special flair with making dull things fun. His father, however, still felt concern. It wouldn't be right for a flake to teach children.
Seren spent his whole summer proving to his father he could be a responsible adult. The Geist was responsible for all the chores within the house and even had to hold a temporary job at a fast food restaurant. It was grueling, but at the end of the season, Seren got the approval and funds to go to the community college to seek out his teaching future.
