Avon had been on the move lately, and with the tense climate only worsening, he had done far more scrying than was necessary. He needed to find someone to help the situation, and not make it worse. He knew it was against Nova's wishes, but this may be the only chance he would get to find redemption in an avalanche of death and chaos.
Desperate times, calls for desperate measures.
It was late at night, and really the only time he could find Zephyr to be alone with recent events and his current household situation. A crow tapped on the glass of the window to Zephyr's room, and while the window had been shut and locked, the crow entered as though it was open. Perched at the end post of the bed, it cocked its head sideways and cawed for attention, dropping a letter that had been in its mouth upon the sheets. A flutter of wings as if flying away, feathers flittering about as the bird itself vanished into the darkness.
Zephyr Kardos,
Usually I'm far more formal than this, but I figure you would appreciate the bluntness of this letter. I'll be short. As you may have been aware, Treterra has been plunged into chaos, and I know you have been in contact with the being Valentein, an enemy to the meta race and for all those living on Treterra. She is the reason for the turning tides in chaos and while I can pinpoint connections to you, I feel you can also change back those tides against her. I won't dawdle on the reasons why I, Avon of the meta demon race, have contacted you. I feel you are ready to uphold the true power you were meant to have. But while I can offer you power beyond your dreams, I know what you truly want is the returned life of a loved one. This is far more informal than usual, I will give you the options, but we both know what you will choose in the end.
I have watched you since you were born, the trials you have already faced prove just how suited you are to be appointed elder of the demons, and join the ranks of those with the power to change this world, hopefully for the better.
You will face several trials, and one that you must face alone. But you must choose what it is you want to achieve to show that the meta race is not just weapons bred to kill and destroy. We are capable of love and compassion, just as you have shown time and time again.
You can choose inner strength, you will find the strength to endure anything in the Village of Ranimos, they have been known to harbor some key to inner peace.
It could be possible that you seek to speak to the to spirits of Treterra themselves. You may look for what is called the Twilight Stone that is said to grant you that ability to pass through into a realm of spirits and speak to them directly. And maybe even bring them back into the living world.
Or you could wish to seek out Gaia herself for a divine gift, they call them Symbols of Radiance. These artifacts that enlighten your spirit and mind as well as true strength.
What it is you choose for yourself will take you on your journey towards becoming a true elder. This will be no easy task and unfortunately this will be a quest for you and you only. The likeliness that you will be able to stay in contact with those you are close to is very small, as you may also be gone for months depending on the path your carve. The path is dangerous and gruely but I have the utmost faith in you that you can complete this.
I wish you the best of luck,
Sincerely, Avon Metamorphose

Broken_Illumination Choice: Spirits of Treterra Zephyr awoke with a start, another nightmare of his past wracking his unconscious mind. With a sigh, he looked over the bed that he had been sharing with Mise and Alutae - usually just Alutae at the moment as the poor girl had become used to being cuddled while she slept. The werewolf was still fast asleep, thankfully. With a stretch, he noticed the letter on the foot of the bed, with his name written on it.
Picking it up, he slid out of the bed and moved to the kitchen as he read it. "Never thought they would have me do this.." he muttered, but there was one line that caught his eye. The possibility of bringing back a loved one was too tempting. Setting the letter down, he put a pot of coffee on and went to grab two pieces of paper and a pen.
Sitting down in the kitchen as the coffee brewed behind him, he wrote two letters himself. One to Moira - telling her to take care of the twins and let her know that he's on his own quest, and one to Mise - pretty much saying goodbye and to also take care of the twins in case of the worst scenario as he knew that where he was going, there was a possibility he wouldn't be coming back. Leaving the letter to Moira on the table, he folded the one to Mise and poured two cups of coffee. One for himself, and one he took to the steps that lead into the basement. Moving a small table closer to the steps, he set the cup and the letter on it so Mise could see.
Taking his own letter and small thermos of coffee, Zephyr grabbed his jacket and a helmet and headed out the door. "Well... I guess it couldn't hurt to see what these spirits of Treterra have to say." he chuckled as he put the helmet on and walked to the side of the mansion to where he kept an old motorcycle he had for a couple years. Starting it up, he decided it would be best to just head towards the country - away from both the nearby city and the once-was school.

Zephyr could have rode his bike for hours without a single eventful thing happening beyond the setting sun in the distance, the sky bleeding into soft pinks and oranges that almost sparkled in the sunlight that slowly dimmed over the lands. It was a captivating sight especially to someone who might have not been able to stop and just watch the sunset in a long time. The breeze was soft, and the faint smell of spring just on the horizon as it exited the season into summer.
There was a soft nagging in the back of Zephyr's mind, a gentle reminder to be careful because at a moments notice, anything could happen.
And anything, as it would have it, was about to happen.
Just as serene as the scenery had been, his heart strummed with a deep resonation that may have caused him to feel like his breath skipped a beat. Alarming to say the least, but not as alarming as the blurred figure that he didn't notice until all too late as it tried to pass in front him faster than his eyes could manage to even make out what it was.
All that was certain at this point, was whatever it was, he definitely hit it, and Zephyr was airborne, the bike slamming into the ground and tumbling ahead as his body was thrown forward before everything suddenly went black.
It felt like only a split second before the crash of thunder woke him. Lighting illuminating the room he was in. He was in a medical bed, even if it didn't look like he was in a hospital. Possibly some kind of nurse's office as the rain poured loudly just outside the large windows looking out into the cloudy night sky. He appeared to be alone and the lights were off. He wasn't bound or tied, or even collared for that matter. In fact, he had been bandaged. Minor wounds on his arms, as what he would immediately notice was all of his original limbs were present, despite the lack of wings. His ring was also missing, appearing to be nowhere in his vicinity. And the final thing he would notice, was the nagging in his mind was completely gone, it was startlingly quiet in his mind.that one halfling Please roll a D20 in your response.

Waking up with a start in the nurses office, Zephyr sat up and went to grasp his chest with his right hand, but there was confusion as he could feel everything along that arm. Looking down, he seemed a little horrified that his right arm was back. Yanking the sheets off of himself, he soon found that both of his legs were back as well. "W-what..." he murmured, looking around.
Taking a breath, he stayed on the bed for now, reaching into his own mind, "Hexxis---" Zephyr started, but as there was nothing there - not even their connection, he took in a sharp breath. "No.." he muttered, soon standing up but only to topple over as he stood on legs he had once lost.

Any attempt to reach the voice that once reached his mind was indeed completely gone. A barren silence that spoke volumes on what could have happened, surely he had already made his own assumptions.
There was movement in the hallway, running in fact, two sets of feet in hot pursuit. Another crash of thunder echoed through the building before the door slid open and a man with long white hair and cat-like blue eyes entered quickly and shut the door behind him. Out of breath as he held the door shut and kept low until the other person ran past. As soon as they were far enough away, he sighed with relief and turned to lean against the door. "...s**t..." he cursed to himself as he moved to fumble for something in his pocket. As he finally pulled his cellphone out, he looked up, a flicker of fear in his eyes to see someone in the room with him. It wasn't until he realized it wasn't who he expected before he narrowed his eyes on the demon. "What the hell are you doing here?!" he hissed softly, still trying to stay quiet despite his immediate defensiveness about him. Zephyr would immediately recognize this person as Hexxis' brother... Ree. Except, he had no wings and there was a lack of ornament on the side of his head as he almost looked completely human.

Moving to stand up as he heard someone running through the halls, Zephyr just barely managed to stand when the door flew open and revealed someone all too familiar to him. "Oh what the ********> He muttered, not wanting to fight, not like he really could. "I don't know, I just woke up after being in a damned carcrash." he rolled his eyes, moving to sit back down on the bed so he wouldn't topple back over.

Ree glanced back at the door he was leaning against then back at Zephyr. "You shouldn't be here." he stated very matter of fact, a tone of anger in his voice. "I don't why you're still here after dark, but it's too late now. Just stay in here, hide if anyone comes, and never ever stay in the school after dark again..." he reprimanded seriously then paused. "Wait, did you say car crash?.... Just how old are you? You're obviously not a student if you can drive...." he seemed more confused by this. As lightning struck again, illuminating the room again, Zephyr could clearly see that Ree was wearing a school uniform with an emblem of the meta academy on it. He gave a sigh and glanced back again. "I'm Ree... what's your name?" he asked, looking a bit on edge like he was worried about other people finding them. He glanced down to his phone and sent a quick text message before focusing on Zephyr again.

Zephyr just stared at Ree, soon laughing a little bit. The school, back as a school? Those uniforms? Oh Gaia, what did he get himself into? "The name is Zephyr, and last I checked, I was about thirty. Didn't know the Academy had decided to start functioning again..." he chuckled, remembering how he hated those uniforms as they were always a little more snug than he would have liked. "If one is never supposed to be in the school, why are you here?" He asked, tilting his head just a little bit, now wondering if he looked younger or if wherever he was decided to give him back his lost limbs. Moving to stand up, he tried to look around for a mirror, slowly as to not topple over again.

Ree didn't know whether to be confused or angry at his laugh. At least he could introduce himself. That was until he revealed his age, and Ree practically choked. "...th-thirty?!.... don't play around!" he was really confused, but even so, he looked concerned. "Maybe you hit your head in your "crash"?" he made quotes with his fingers. This guy was strange.
When he asked him why he was in the school late, he tensed and narrowed his eyes. "Because I'm in a fight with Team B...." he answered carefully. "I was supposed to get him to the roof for the ambush but I think they knew. Cedric is scary strong, I can't take him alone and..." he paused looking at his phone and frowning. "...and great, she's not answering... it must be the thunder... s**t." he cursed. "Look, I don't actually have a lot of time to talk all this out. Just... like I said, stay here and hide if anyone else comes...." he warned very seriously.
Zephyr could manage to the full size mirror in the nurses office, noticing that he did actually look younger, along the age of probably his teen years than the rugged older man he had been only moments ago to his knowledge. His hair was still colored but his eyes weren't yellow anymore, but a dark amber color bordering on brown, besides the off hair color, he himself looked fairly human as well.
Ree shifted nervously on his feet. "I'm...gonna go. I'm serious, though. If they find you here, they will kill y-..." he voice trailed off as he suddenly coughed up blood. His eyes widening with horror as he looked down to the curved blade that impaled through his body. He tried to gasp for air but it was clear his lungs had filled with his own blood before his eyes rolled and he collapsed to the floor dead.
"....found you, Ree." A teen with very short white hair and piercing black and blue inverted eyes pulled the blade out and slid the door open to look down at Ree's now dead body. He pulled out his own cellphone and called someone. "....Ree of Team A is disposed. Returning to relay po-..." he paused and looked at Zephyr. "You. Identify yourself, Name and Team." he demanded sternly as he pulled his scythe forward to point it at Zephyr.

Zephyr was a little too distracted by his own reflection in the mirror when he saw a younger version of himself in the mirror. Well - all but his normally golden eyes. Stepping closer, he looked himself over, ignoring Ree until the other coughed suddenly. Looking over, a little startled as it happened all of a sudden without any sort of tact, Zephyr watched as the door opened and revealed the teen. "Holy ********> he muttered to himself. Seeing the weapon pointed at himself, he quickly put his hands up to show that he was unarmed.
"Zephyr, I don't... have a team? I just woke up here." Zephyr stated quickly, figuring that if he try to comply, he'd be joining Ree on the floor. "Had a crash, woke up here."

Blue inverted eyes scanned Zephyr and his body language for a moment, still on the phone as he spoke. "...new player. Zephyr, he said his name was. We don't have room and with Ree disposed...." his voice trailed off as he moved toward Zephyr with the intent to obviously get rid of him right now. He pulled the scythe back to swing but stopped. "....are you sure?... He could join them..." he listened to the female voice on the line then nodded a bit. "...understood. I will go after her instead. She should still be on the roof as long as the thunder keeps up." he spoke then took a step back and hung up the phone. "It's your lucky day. You're being spared since you are currently no threat. But if you join a team, you will be killed. And if you join Hexxis' team, I will kill you myself." he spoke seriously then turned to leave through the door he came from without another word.

"Wait wait, wait-- what's going on? I don't know where I am and what's going on and why is being on Hexxis' team bad? I literally don't know anything you're talking about." Zephyr frowned, his hands still up in the air. "I would like to know what I woke up to and why everyone is acting like this. I don't know where I am and why you just killed him." He pointed a foot towards the body of Ree.
The poor demon was confused, though hearing his wife's name was nice.

Cedric paused at the door and glanced back at him. "The less you know, the more likely you are to survive. Dawn is coming, so I don't have the time to explain it all to you even if I wanted to. Lucky for you, we can only fight at night, so once the sun comes up, you're home free. You can go back to being a normal student and never speak of any of this again." he spoke deadpan and then looked down to Ree. "Don't worry about him. He knew what he was getting into when he joined her team." he narrowed his eyes. "Heed my advice and I won't kill you. It's that simple. Now if you will excuse me.... the storm is to clear before dawn and my window of opportunity is closing." he looked away and then left.

Zephyr stared at the other, a small frown on his lips as he listened to the boy talk. Once he was gone, he took in a breath and let his hands fall to the side. "What the ********. Like seriously now. The academy ... running again...a weird horror story type of deal at night... what sort of alternate time line did I end up in? Damnit, if mise was here he would know.." he sighed as he sat down on the bed and held his head. He just wanted his wife back!

Zephyr was left alone now with Ree's dead body as no one seemed to be coming for him at this time. The rain was letting up a bit as a soft glow was just beginning to emerge signalling the approaching dawn. Another crash of thunder echoed through the halls before it fell silent.
