Kyla sniffled lightly as she picked up another plushie, one of many that had been scattered around the play area instead of being put away nicely, still in a bit of shock that someone had said she had been responsible. Something about that hit her pretty hard, making a task that should have taken only a few minutes last much longer. She was worried that the teacher would keep her there until everything was cleaned up, even though she needed to go soak herself soon. There was another freshling stuck there with her, though she wasn’t sure what they were doing. She might have stopped for a moment to look or say hi, but that didn’t seem important. What were her parents going to say when they found out?

Basil slowly amassed the toys and plushies strewn around the room. He huffed, throwing them in the toy box before taking a bit of a break. It wasn't his fault that the room was a mess. He was blamed for it for whatever unknown reason and now he was stuck here cleaning up what remained. He glanced over at the other freshling who was kept after too. He wasn't sure if she did it, but he didn't care. He just wanted to leave. "If you do that side, we'll get done faster." He said flatly. He had been told that his resting face seemed angry, but he wasn't gonna smile right now. He wasn't in the mood.

She winced slightly as the other freshling spoke to her, seeming kind of angry. Did he think it was her fault? His idea sounded like it might help though, and then they could both get out of here faster. “O-okay..." She murmured, picking up another plushie and carefully putting it back where it belonged. She really liked this one, it was big and comfy to snuggle with, it was sad to see it carelessly discarded. Doing as he suggested, she scooped up a few plushies that were in the corner, dusting them off and making sure they were still in one piece before she went to put them away. She took extra care with each one, setting them upright in a carefully built pile, and petting their heads before she moved on to the next one.

Basil was done before the other freshling, so he decided to help her out. He didn't want to rush her, but he did want to get out of the room. One by one, he grabbed the rest of the plushies that were further from her reach and he sat them up naot are carefully or as caring as the other freshling did. Once he ran out of those, he stood uietly looking over the other. He twiddled his thumbs for a moment before speaking up. "So you like the toys? Are those your favorite and that's what's taking you so long?" He spoke without thinking, being rather blunt about it. His face didn't give away anything as he waited for her response.

Kyla didn’t even notice that the other freshling was done until he picked up a toy next to her, though he seemed to be a lot more rough with them. She almost protested the treatment he was giving them when he spoke up, visibly shrinking slightly at the tone until she realized that he didn’t seem angry at her. Tucking the last plushie into its place, she looked over at the other freshling, speaking in soft tones. “The...plushies. I really like plushies…” She sniffed a bit, before continuing nervously. “I don’t like seeing them mistreated either. I don’t know why the caretakers thought I was responsible for this.” Motioning to the cleaned up floor, and the pile of toys and plushies. Still, her parents would be mad if she wasn’t polite, and he had helped her clean up, even if she wasn’t sure why he was here. “Thank you for helping me…”

Basil nodded along as the freshling talked. "Oh?" He looked over at the plushies. "you didn't do this either?" He crossed his arms with a huff. The teacher had gotten the wrong kids, who could have done it then? He pondered this for a moment before going to fix up some of the plushies he has to roughly set back in place. He adjested them carefully before turning to the Naiad. "Like this?" He didn't want her possibly upset with how they were set up. "So..." He looked around, the teacher having left to chat with the other teachers. "Do you live in the dorm or something?" He wanted to make sure he walked the Naiad back to where she lived. His dad would tell him to be nice and curtious, and this wasn't too much trouble.

She looked up as he moved to see him reposition some of the plushies that had been haphazardly tossed around, a little surprised that he would do such a thing. Her eyes went a bit wide when his question confirmed what she had never expected him to do. “Y-yeah. You...you didn’t have to do that. Thank you.” Kyla looked over the collections of plushies and toys, smiling at how nice they looked. At least something was going well in spite of being held after school like this, and this boy was turning out to be very nice, despite his gruff attitude. “Yeah, in the freshling dorm for Arkham, one of the lower floors.” The lower floors had larger baths for Naiads like herself, although freshlings of other races got to enjoy them as well when they weren’t busy. “What about you?”

Basil watched for a moment as he naiad freshling admired the plushies. At least she was satisfied with how he arranged them now. "I live at home with my mom and my sister. My mom's Zusa and my dad's Gallius and my sister's Sage." He said that all in one breath, turning to grab his things. "Naiads like baths, right? Why?" He gathered up his stuff, walking towards the door. He looked back at his classmate as if expecting her to follow but waited for her to make sure. "I'm gonna walk you to your dorm, ok?" He waved her over with his hand.

She blinked at the boy’s ability to not breathe while speaking, staring blankly for a moment as she tried to decipher what he had said. “Um. You know how Fey’s have a flower that needs sunlight or moonlight? It’s kind of like that.” She wasn’t herself sure why she needed baths so often, other than it feeling great and some phantom fear instilled upon her by her parents that she mustn't go too long without one. Being told that he was walking her home was strange as well, but he wasn’t really a stranger, and she knew how to get home by herself if they got lost. “O-okay…” What a weird boy, but he also helped her put the plushies back nicely… She figured it was fine, and gathered her stuff to join him by the door.

"Oh, ok. I think I get it." Basil nodded his head slowly. A lot of baths all the time didn't seem like too much fun unless you really liked the water. He wondered if Naiads got all wrinkly like his fingers do when he's been swimming for a long time. "Maybe we should go swimming sometime cause I bet you're a really good swimmer. Maybe you could teach me?" He could swim but he wasn't much of a swimmer. When his fur got all wet it was a pain to get dry again and he'd poof up like a cotton ball if his mom used the blow dryer. He shook his head of his random thoughts. "Ok, let's hurry up, I wanna get home too."
