Name: Alerea
Age: 29
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Seacrafter
Physical Description: The first thing people notice about Alerea is her height, or lack there of. Standing barely above 5'0", she is a small thing and (trust me) she hates this. The next thing people tend to notice is a significant lack of womanly curves. She has tiny hips, practically no bosom or cleavage to speak of, and harbors a terribly flat figure. If one may think her weak, however, they are wrong. Sure, she isn't quite as strong as some due to her petite figure and small bones but she does keep herself in shape and sports many wiry muscles. She does and can pack a punch (albeit a small one).
Thankfully, what she lacks in curves or figure, she makes up with a fairly attractive face. She may not be sultry or coy or beautiful, but cute is a good way to describe her. Her hair is straight and fine, naturally dishwater blond though it has lightened significantly due to time spent in the sun. She tends to keep it clipped back off her neck or tied back in some fashion, anything to not have to think about it. She does harbor a light farmers tan, though it pales during the winter seasons and come the following spring, she often burns some as consequence.
Her eyes are a bright green, nothing fancy or out of the ordinary really, and can either sparkle with great good-humor or smolder with irritation. They are perhaps her prettiest feature, but Alerea doesn't much pay attention to such things.
Personality: Alerea by nature is good-humored with a bright personality and sharp mind. She can have a temper when push comes to shove, and her tongue can cut when she wishes but for the most part, the woman prefers not to waste her breath. A bit of an independent thinker, her turns at High Reaches Weyr haven't broken her strong spirit or transformed her in to an idle spirit. She has made a few waves in her time, but not enough to get her kicked out or transferred.... yet.
Hard-working, she pulls her weight during drills and sweeps, and is always game-on during Threadfall. Sometimes she begrudges Atlanth and she can't actually fight a full Threadfall, but she's always there cheering on her wingmates even when grounded. Her animated spirit means she has energy to spare, and she's known to be a bit of a firecracker.
Despite her extroversion, Alerea can have a temper and will hold a grudge against any who wrongs her or those she does come to care about or call friend. Stubborn to a fault, she had once scoffed over the idea Threadfall would return, and has likely been eating crow about it since its return. Now that it is back, she's proud to call High Reaches Weyr her home -- even if she sometimes gets caught up in the local politics, and winds up having to explain herself to her Wingleaders.
When not bickering with someone pulling rank on her, or goofing off with A'ye, Alerea is a good individual, whom loves to laugh and bring some brightness to those around her when she can. She loves to laugh, and believes it to be the best medicine in such a tumultuous time. When she can tease or poke fun at others, she will, though it is never done with ill-intent or malice.
Positive Trait List Good-Humored, Sociable, Fearless
Negative Trait List Insubordinate, Bossy, Quick-Temper
History: Alerea was brought up in a small fishing hold near the coast. Her family wasn't particularly wealthy, with her mother serving as a kitchen worker and her father and eldest brother going out every morning to fish with others of the Hold. Life along the coast wasn't particularly eventful for the girl; she made friends and was expected to either be married off early or assist in bringing prosperity to the small hold and its people.
Alerea was raised with a strong work ethic, as dawdling or idling ones days away was frowned upon. Though the small fishing hold was conservative and old-fashioned, she never lacked support or encouragement from her family.
She grew in to a bright young woman and, while a bit too independent to easily be married off, decided to pursue the sea and fish craft. She dreamed of being sent off to Tillek Hold to study at the main hall, but it was decided by her family with the local journeyman that she might better learn the basics of fishing and sailing at her home hold. They would teach her all she knew and, if she proved diligent in her studies and knowledge of the sea, might then be recommended to finish her apprenticeship at Tillek.
At Turn 15, a few riders had been brought in from the nearby Weyr, teaching the optimistic sailors about thermals, various wind patterns, and most importantly how to read the weather signs in the clouds and skies. Flying a dragon was almost like sailing, as far as Alerea could compute; both dragonmen and sailors had to understand how to read weather patterns from the clouds and colours of the sky.
It was under such exposure that a blue rider sought her out after the lecture ended. He told her his blue was certain she might make a good rider and found her officially on Search; She could always return home if things didn't work out, or if she decided being cooped up in a mountainous Weyr wasn't for her.
Realizing that such an opportunity was incredibly rare, the girl decided to take a chance. Packing her things, she was sent off to the Weyr with little more than a second thought. The sea craft would always be there, and the possibility of Impression sounded like a fun, new adventure.
Her first Hatching came and went and the girl found herself alone. She was one of the many whom didn't Impress, but it didn't bring her down. Her personality didn't allow her long to sulk, and after seeking some comfort in the arms of a few bed partners, she was back to her usual self.
Alerea found her match when Eveleth became Weyrwoman and chose Thistreth as Weyrleader. It was during that Hatching that she Impressed to a beautiful green, Atlanth. The green dragon was her missing piece, the balm of her soul. The green dragon was as wild as the ocean -- calm, refreshing, and soothing one moment -- but capable of being wild and terrifying the next. She was a green that Alerea knew how to tame, a best-friend, a partner, and one who was just as mischievous as she could be! They were a beautiful match, and there is no one, or nothing, Alerea could love more than her Atlanth.
It was during weyrling training that she befriended A'ye and Oyath, and the two have been all but inseparable since. Alerea certainly won't let anyone push A'ye around, and she's mighty suspicious of any of his lovers. He's not good enough for the likes of any of you.
When Thread fell, Alerea lost some of her family, but not all. She was lucky to have training, and though they couldn't save everyone, she was grateful to High Reaches that Atlanth and she were prepared and able to defend the neighboring Holds. She might not always like the politics of the Weyr, but she genuinely couldn't see herself anywhere else. High Reaches Weyr has its problems, but it will always be her home.
Other: She is A'ye's best friend. Hurt him and feel her claws. She's also a good swimmer and pretty quick on her feet. Being so small, she can fit through tight places. Living in a small sea-hold, she knows much about the ocean, various fish and aquatic life, as well as some basic knowledge about ships, sailing and fishing.
She has two flits, Delta & Gamma.
DRAGON
Name: Atlanth
Age: 8
Color: Green
Size: 24'
Physical Description: Atlanth is a delicate green. She has a small frame, but is long of wing and has large hands and feet. While this might give her a slightly awkward look, it certainly aids her when she swims, and is good when she's hunting prey. Thankfully, she doesn't mind, and anyone who thinks her funny will find her teeth.
Personality: Like rider, like dragon! Atlanth is not a docile green. She prefers fun and games, especially swimming, and isn't overly serious. While she is known to get along with many, she has no problem using her clever wit to tear down any brown or bronze who might think themselves too good for her. She knows she can outfly any of them, and that her rider likely works twice as hard! She's a bit sassy, and isn't always easily put in her place. All that said, most often her claws are sheathed, and so long as nobody is getting bullied or given a hard time, she can be a very fun green.
She loves flights, and certainly enjoys giving the boys a run for their money! She's also got a fondness for Oyath.
