PLAYFUL CRITTERS Roleplay Event
Solo or RP Format Worth 5 Growth Points Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7 The swampy waters of elehun seemed to be full of life lately. The warm summer weather had brought out all sorts of critters to play, and it wasn’t just those on land that were making their appearance. A family of enhudra could be seen flitting and diving around the village and seemed to take a particular interest in a single menehune. Their scaled bodies would glint and flicker in the lights coming from the sky above the waters as the three of them swirled and poked at the unfortunate kahikinan.

Balhira was traveling to the market to make some trades, having run out of food yet again and not having the energy to go hunting. It was easy to trade for the glass balls she made, but unfortunately the demand was much lower than the supply. As a result she had to make quite a few, and often had to target out of town traders who she knew would take the wares to sell elsewhere. As she was swimming along, she heard the splashing and could feel the water shift past her barbels. Lifting her head above the murky waters to get a better view, she was surprised to see the splashing of a few enhudras, dancing around her neighbor Henehona. For once, the woman wasn't gossiping, too distracted by the playful critters and unable to brush them off.
Balhira considered the situation for a long moment. She really should help her neighbor scare them off, but she knew if she did she would become dragged in to the typical gossip the woman was known for. So far, she hadn't been seen, so if she dipped below the water she might be able to make a break for it without any sighting. Really, there wasn't much damage the creatures could do to Henehona, and if the woman really tried, she could scare them off. The enhudras weren't angry, simply playful in nature and slick in body. They were slippery, hard to catch, and darted around like eels. They wouldn't do more than n** at a menehune's toes, before growing bored and finding their next thing to harass.
Balhira, satisfied with her inner musings that the girl would be fine, nodded her head and began to turn. Just as her nose dipped below the surface, however, she had a sudden sense of guilt, and her sigh bubbled to the top of the water as she turned back around and slowly began to swim over.
Nearing the group of playful creatures, she lifted her hand and send a splash of murky water their way. The three were suddenly startled, and turned to skitter off once they realized there were two Menehune around to fight back. It was pretty typical, and Balhira once again wondered why her gossip focused neighbor didn't think to raise her voice and shoo them off.
It took a total of thirty seconds for the woman to stop crying out enough to realize she wasn't being poked and splashed by the animals, and another ten to open her eyes and catch sight of Balhira.
Maybe she should have left Henehona, because in the blink of the eye she was toppling into the water with a nearly sobbing woman talking about how scared she was and how much danger she had been in.
Oh yes, she was dramatic too.
As Balhira pushed her away and began to head off without another word, her ears began to ring as Henehona continued to talk about how scary it was, before launching into the news she heard on the latest trip to the great spring Noelani. Odds were, Balhira was stuck with her damsel in distress until she got to the village and found someone to pawn her off to. And she had quite a ways to swim before she got there. Dipping under the water with another bubbling sigh, she wondered if Henehona might get lost in the water and leave her the quiet she desired.
