The rains had stopped. That was all Gur could think right now was that it had stopped raining and if she should trust the weather to stay this way or brace for another storm lurking behind the horizon. The cynic in her told her not to trust this peaceful quiet but a glimmer of hope told her other wise and ultimately won. Things would be fine now that the heavy rains were gone and the sun sat firmly in their place. The sea was even calm right now which made Gur feel even more at ease.
Gur had found a nice spot by the ocean to have a seat and gaze for some time. It was calming to watch the sky as no threatening cloud passed over. Her eyes shut and she allowed her self this moment to absorb in to her self. This calm.
"Am I interrupting anything?" A familiar gruff voice cut in to her thoughts and had Gurs eyes pop open only to find Lihau standing behind her.
"Oh. No. I'm enjoying the calm is all." Her answer was to the point.
"Mind if I join you?" He sounded hopeful so Gur gave him a nod indicating she was okay with him sitting with her. Lihau graciously took a seat beside the female and the two sat in silence for some time gazing at the horizon. The occasional gull would cry out in to the void of silence but all and all for some time there was barely a sound aside from the tiny lapping waves. The ocean, after all, was only mostly calm and never fully tamed.
"Are you thinking about before." Lihau asked unprompted. Gur shrugged.
"You mean before we came here." This was a statement and not a question. Lihau nodded his head.
"Yeah."
"No. Not really," She admitted.
The conversation stalled again for some time as the two lions stoically gazed out across the ocean. Not a word was said for some time and both parties seemed okay with this. The usual white noise that would accompany an ocean scene continued on with out the two needing to say anything.
"You know I really do enjoy your company Lihau." Gur finally cut the silence.
"... What?" Lihaus stoic persona dropped that instant. "What do you mean by that?"
Gur took a breath and exhaled. She allowed her self to chew on this thought for some time before opening her maw to reply.
"I suppose that seems out of no where," The blue lioness confessed. "I suppose I mean I don't enjoy the company of others for the most part but I don't mind yours. You've always been a good friend."
"..." Lihau looked shocked. He'd opened his maw to say something only to close it a few moments later. Gur wasn't the type to say things like this to anyone as long as he'd known her. She had always been the cool silent type that kept to her self for the most part. Then again so was he.
"Well. Same to you." He finally managed to find some form of words. They were weak in comparison to Gurs confession but still held the same weight as Lihau was not one to say something unless he fully meant it.
Silence fell between the two again only this time something heavy was in the air. Unspoken thoughts and feelings loomed over the two for some time as they watched the ocean.
"The rains gone." Lihau finally broke the silence yet again.
"Yeah?" Gur sounded hopeful the conversation would carry on but not so enthused about the subject matter. She could very well see that the rain was gone and though she was grateful she did not want to talk much about it. The female was hopeful the conversation would take a jump to else where.
".. I mean. I guess that makes it so things can get a little better.." Lihau was struggling with this. "Ugh. I'm saying it." He huffed, "Gur. You're one of the few in the world I actually like. We're getting older the two of us and the prides not yet had any new generation to carry on the blood. Will you.. " He grumbled.
"Are you asking to mate with me? " She looked half amused, "You realize you're going about it very sloppy."
"Yeah." Lihaus face was red. "But the question still stands and you have yet to answer."
"Not one for romance huh?" Gur smiled.
"Not really but I suspect any lions efforts to romance you would be wasted. I doubt you're the type to beat around the bush." He raised a brow at her.
"Well you get me at least." She shrugged. "So you want me to have cubs with you. You realize I've never had cubs nor have I been one to get excited to be around them either. You sure you're barking up the right tree? Why do you want cubs all of a sudden any how?" She was still quite amused but had yet to give Lihau a firm answer. This was intentional.
"I've never had cubs my self... I never felt the need until we got to this place. I wasn't so sure during the storm if it was the right time but I feel that now is the right time..." He grumbled.
"You mean its calm now. Cubs do well in calm. Makes sense. " She grinned, "Fine."
"Seriously?" Lihau looked quite in shock.
"Yeah. But I'm not marrying you."
"I wasn't asking."
For some reason that stung a little for Gur but she paid that sting no mind. What would she do if she was attached at the hip to some one any how? Sounded like a bunch of trouble she was not interested in any how.
"Alright. Well.... Lets go back to the dens and see about adding some cheerful noises to this pride I guess." She was well aware how unromantic this situation was.
"Yeah. Lets go to my den," Lihau was glad Gur was willing to do this. He wouldn't have asked any other female to do this duty but he was sure that Gur would be a good influence on any cubs produced. Whether she liked it or not she had some secret maternal instincts and Lihau knew this.
"Turn down the romance why don't you." She was being sarcastic but in truth she had hoped that maybe a male might be a little more romantic. Ah well. Cubs not being brought up in this safe haven was a crime they needed to fix.
