Promise
Promise still couldn't believe it. It had been ten minutes, and still his mind was racing. His role model actually wanted to go on a date with him? He couldn't believe it.
But--here he was. No matter how many times he pinched himself. He. Wouldn't. Wake. Up. It wasn't a dream.
It wasn't a dream!
Prosper entered the house, face flushed. Oh geez, oh geez. He had to get ready. When were they supposed to meet? His blushing face soon paled. They hadn't agreed on a time!
Ahhh, for a first date he really was ******** up.
Prosper
Dieties, he was as sick as a spectrefox. Wait. That wasn't right. He was as sick as a---a--well, as sick as a person with the flu could be. He couldn't film like this. He couldn't even make an update video for his social medias without his stuffiness going through. This was. The absolute worst. Prosper was pretty sure he had watched the same damned House Hunters episode ten times over. Was this---was this what normal reclusive people did?
How could anyone live like this?
Bright, natural light flooded into the room, making him groan. The room was completely dark before. Why the sudden----Promise? Bleary eyes narrowed. Was he---blushing? No. It looked like the color washed out of his face. s**t, did he get him sick too? "Promise, what's wrong?" he croaked, setting the tea that he had been cradling in his hands down.
Promise
Wha----What was that? His whole body jumped and he swiveled around to see who it was---who said his name--.
Prosper? "Why are you in the dark?" That was odd. Promise was never in the dark. The light to the hallway and dining hall would at least be on to shed enough light to make it seem like someone else was home. His brother never liked to be alone.
Prosper
"It's too bright out." he moved the blanket on himself up a bit. He had only taken a sip of his tea a few moments before and his throat already felt sore and scratchy. It hurt so much to talk. Ugh. Light...well. He was sick. He didn't want the light on. If vampires were real, the grimm would think that someone turned him in the middle of the night.
But that was ridiculous because vampires canonically. Canon God he was sounding like his brother.
His sickness meant nothing. More importantly, his brother was still pale. "It's fine, I'm not a ghost." he leaned forward to peer at him. It was so hard just given the light from the door--but. "What's wrong? Why do your eyes look panicked?"
Promise
Promise took a breath. Could he say? Geeze louise, Prosper was going to have a cow. "I really can't talk right now." he started moving towards the hallway. Hopefully that would do it.
He cringed as he heard his brother's slippers padding behind him and stopped, three paces away. "Look I--I really don't want to talk about this right now. I have a date that I have to get to and---" Oh no. He said it.
He shouldn't have said it.
Prosper
"You--You have a what?" The man gaped, stopping the other nightmare in his speech. It was like he was a fish out of water.A date. Never in his life did he think that his brother, Promise of all people would have a date. So soon. Who had he been talking to? Who was this person? A friend? That was ridiculous. Promise only talked about friends that he has online and the games that he played. How could he go on a date with someone who he met online? Why didn't Promise talk to him beforehand about it?
His mind was reeling."Who is it? Where are you going?" Could he join? No, of course not. He smothered the thought as soon as it came into his head. He was sick. The hybrid held the blanket closer to his body. He couldn't get his brother sick, let alone his new date. Unless...they were an a**.
Promise would go out with an a*****e. "I want deets." He said with finality, crossing his arms.
He wasn't going to let him leave without it. Even if he had to shuffle right after him.
Promise
Deets. The grimm cringed, his shoulder's scrunched up. "I don't really have the time to talk about it. I can tell you later? He heard a whispery tsk and squeezed his eyes shut.
So much for getting off scott free.
"I-I met the guy at the cafe that I was studying at. His name is Ri---Marique," his cheeks started turning red. Dieties, he was going to get so much flack if he pointed out that it was the same game designer that he raved about to Promise. Who he started a fan club for. Prosper was going to think he was mad.
But he wasn't going to find out. He couldn't find out.
Prosper
He couldn't believe him!
Promise had actually asked someone out just from a one time meeting? "No way. You don't talk to anyone! Why---how did this come about? The hybrid placed two fingers on his temple. This was starting to give him a headache. Either that or his meds were starting to wear off. Prosper liked to think the latter. He shook his head. "This is so unusual for you, you don't even know them! He looked for a clock to see the time---and couldn't. How long had Prosper been gone? It was still in the middle of the day...
"Tell me." his blanket fell as he crossed his arms; the sudden chill making him rub his arms. "I can't let my baby brother go without knowing how. And where." Ugh, why did he have to be sick?! He could have spied on him. Man, first the tickets, and now this. This was such a shitty time to get sick.
Promise
This was so bad, this was so bad, this was so bad!
He should have never gone home to get the tickets. He should have just asked Marique if he wanted to go walk around a park, watch a movie.
Anything but this.
"I really am late for this date, Prosper." he let out a whine, reluctantly turning around. And was met with his brother's unamused gaze. ********.
Prosper was really too nosy. He really shouldn't have said he was going on a date.
"I--it's a long story, but I do kind of know them." Okay. So he knew the Riter persona. Played his games. But the game designer didn't have to be that different right? "I can tell you the story later?" He squeezed his eyes shut again, nervous. Would Promise let him go with that? Jeez, he hoped so. "I'll live by my name, I swear. But I need to get ready and head out. I don't want them waiting for long."
Promise took a breath and avoided eye contact with his brother. "I met him at the coffee shop, we got to talking, I asked him if he needed a fresh breath of air at the amusement park and he said that it's a date." Short, simple, to the point. He really couldn't spare any more time. He still had yet to change...The hybrid's toes curled impatiently. "Can I go now? I still need to grab the tickets."
Prosper
His mouth popped open, and not because his nose was too stuffed to breath (okay, or maybe that was one of the reasons). But it was more likely due to the information that he was just given. "So you asked him out?" That's---that's so weird? Asked him out as a friend? Or was he planning on hooking up with this person. Dieties, the more Promise talked, the more convoluted it got. He wanted to know how he knew him but refrained.
His brother did have something important to go after all. With his ticket. The hairs on his back stood up, slightly jealous. He was going to film there! His arms wrapped tighter around each other as they laid across his chest. "Alright." he nodded to himself. It was his baby brother. "You're going to tell me more when you get back. I want to know everything." The hybrid gave his sibling a purposeful look. He wasn't going to stop him from his first ever date. "That ticket better be put into good use." He was going to give a stern lecture to the person if they were an a**.
"But you aren't going like that." Forgetting that his blanket was right behind him, Prosper moved past Promise. His younger brother's sense of fashion was all terribly drab. He needed something that popped. Something that made him look attractive. Which wasn't the oversized sweatshirt and ripped jeans he was wearing. "C'mon, I'm picking out your outfit." They'd be here forever if he let Promise do it himself.
Promise
Prosper may be blunt, but he never did make it easy. Promise sighed. He really didn't want to tell him everything. It might not even work out! For all he knew Marique was going to get tired of him and he was going to call it quits after this one date. It was all very---sudden. There was no way to tell what the future was going to hold.
But his brother wasn't going to give it up. He was already in his room. Nodding, even though the other male couldn't see it, Promise made his way into his own room.
Oh great, Prosper was already starting to go through his closet....
Prosper
All of his clothes were bland. Boring. And not as colorful and nice as he would have liked. Prosper sighed. Typical. His brother was an introvert who was rarely out of his room. It was a surprise that he even had friends at his university.
Of course he wouldn't have something that wasn't geeky.
Time to go for something that was casual that looked nice.
The hybrid pulled out a pastel pink plaid shirt with a frown. He was pretty sure this might have been his but---he pulled it up to look at Promise with the shirt in front of him, considering. "It'll do. He threw it at Promise along with a white undershirt. "Wear one of you're geeky pins with that." Didn't matter which one. If they got along together so well, Promise probably knew at least one thing that his date liked.
Pants...Pans were a different matter. He stared at the lack of variety in that portion of the closet before picking the jeans that seemed the most pristine and not faded. "And these two." he stared at his brother expectantly. What, he wasn't going to leave and assume that the outfit looked good. What may seem like a great fit might be unflattering. And he needed to see.
Promise
Promise fumbled with the clothes when they were thrown at him but was quick to pick them up and hold them underneath their armpit. Prosper would kill him if he left his clothes on the floor. Which, admittedly, he was wont to do. His room floor was proof enough of that.
He was planning on putting on the clothes after Prosper left. He didn't expect him to want to watch. The younger brother scratched at the back of his hairline awkwardly and diverted his eyes. "Could you..turn around?" He shifted his weight from one foot to the other. Athletics wasn't his strong suit...especially as of late. There was a bit of chub there that he didn't like. His sibling would more than likely notice. He couldn't have that lecture about eating right right now.
Prosper
Turn around? "Alright, alright." Prosper turned his body around along with his eyes turning in their sockets at the same time. "I've seen you naked plenty of time's before, I don't know why it matters this time." he made a clicking noise in between his teeth, showing obvious disappointment. Just another thing that he'd have to talk to his brother about. What was he trying to hide? Where did this sudden secretive side come from?
Whatever. It wasn't like he was going to answer now. Prosper filed the never ending list of questions he had for later.
Time to get the man prepared. "Do you have sunscreen?" Safe sex was on the tip of his tongue but Promise wasn't the type. He knew that much. "Cash for the arcade games? Photo pass?" he mentally checked off each and every little thing. Was there anything else? Nah, he didn't think so.
Promise
Sunscreen? The younger brother paused in buttoning up his button up, nearly dressed. "I---don't know. " he continued with the pesky buttons. And missed one. ********. He undid his work and started to redo it. Why did sunscreen matter? "It's slightly cloudy today.." he murmured.
Prosper tensed.
"I'll be sure to bring it with me." Not like he was going to wear it. There were some things that Prosper didn't need to know. The hybrid let out a sigh as his older brother's shoulder's sagged. "I have cash. Isn't it too soon for photos?" They had just met each other and this was his idol. It would be weird if he wanted to take couple pictures. This was their first date.
Prosper would be the type to want a picture though....
Prosper
"I don't care, you're taking my photo pass." he punched his fist with finality. If he had it his way, he would be going with and taking the pictures himself. Promise was terrible at taking great pictures that were in frame. Even worse at catching iconic moments. The photo pass would help with catching pictures on rides but----that couldn't be all the pictures taken.
Geez, this date was probably going to be so awkward for his date. He would take pity, but Promise needed someone just as much as Prosper needed a lover. It made life easier. It was about damned time that his brother finally took interest in someone.
He just didn't expect it to be so soon. His brother seemed like such the type to become friends with someone and then have a relationship...
Even after so many years with the male; Promise still was able to take him by surprise.
Promise
Geez, he wasn't going to use it. He refused to use it. Promise's shoulder's sagged. Yet he was going to take it. "Okay" he fastened the pin to his lapel--one that was discretely from one of Marique's games. Admittedly, he had made it himself.
He just hoped that he'd like it. Was this too forward? Ahhhh. Dating business was so difficult. But---he looked in the mirror. He was done. For better or for worse. Hopefully Prosper would be appeased and he'd be able to go. Promise adjusted his collar awkwardly. "You can look now."
Prosper
The male turned around with a flourish and saw....mediocrity.
Pure. Unadultered. Average-ness.
Prosper's lips twitched down into a frown. It wouldn't do for his own dates. He would have changed in a heartbeat.
But this was Promise that he was looking at. And for Promise..this was as best as he was going to get for now. "We're going shopping if you have a second date." he let out a sigh but made a dismissive wave of his fingers, as if he was sweeping him away underneath a rug. "But it'll do. Grab those things and get out of here."
He watched his brother with a slight pout as he eagerly grabbed his things and zoomed off, slamming the door as he went.
And suddenly felt very tired. Ugh. That was enough energy spent for the day. He started padding back to the couch. Time to continue watching T.V. mindlessly. Dieties, he hated being sick.
