Louise stretched, arms over his head and back popping a bit, as he waited in line for coffee. Normally he tried not to indulge too often, but he'd heard nothing but good things about this cafe and needed the pick-me-up. From the first step he'd taken in the door the smell of fresh coffee and warm pastries had assaulted his nose. The two or three nightmares ahead of him had given him enough time to glance over the menu, saving him from awkwardly trying to make a choice while ordering. Tail swishing against the floor, he perked up as the barista finally signaled him forward. "A macchiato, and a cuppuccino with two shots of espresso please," he requested.
As soon as he'd paid, tipping the barista with a smile, he stepped off to the side and scanned the room for a place to sit. Classes must have ended recently, for there were a multitude of nightmares scattered throughout the store. Most of them had a book or laptop in hand, studying singly or in groups. One particular set of horns caught his attention on his second look through, and a bigger smile took over his face. He'd only taken a couple classes with Lussurio, but they seemed pretty chill.
With a glance behind the counter to make sure he wasn't going to have to come right back to get his coffee, Louise padded over to the hybrid. "Heya, how you been?" he asked when he got in range. They were a bit younger than him, and judging by the looks of it, hadn't quite graduated yet.

Gripping their cup of marocchino like a lifeline, Lussuria blearily glared at their math textbook. He slaved away all night into the early morning in order to finish their assigned project for math, and the day that it's due, the professor has to go and assign them homework. Couldn't the professor take some pity and give them a break from math overload?
Taking a sip, they sighed as the heavenly liquid slid down their throat. They so could not wait until they graduated. Good thing it was their last year at the Academy!
Before they could go back to glaring at the book of complicated numbers, their ears perked as they heard someone approaching them. At first they were mentally prepared to glare at the nightmare approaching, thinking it was one of their classmates that always tried to talk down on them for not only the way they dressed and looked, but also due to their status as a hybrid. It wasn't until they heard a familiar voice friendly addressing them that they looked up.
S***. His name wasn't coming to them immediately. Lussuria almost panicked until they noticed the piercings in the Grimm's left ear and the lip ring that the male's name came to them.
"Hey Louise."
They gave a small smile before mildly glaring at their open textbook.
"I would be better if it weren't for the fact that my math professor gave out homework on the day we turned in our projects. Too much math should be bad for our brains!"
They gave a defeated sigh before a smile came back to their lips. "Putting aside my woes with numbers, how have you been? It's been a while since I last saw you. Life as an Academy graduate treating you well?"Word Count: 295

Louise's smile grew even wider when the hybrid remembered his name. It had been a fifty-fifty shot that they would. Glancing between the textbook on the table and the dark splotches under Lussuria's eyes, it was looking like they were having it rough.
"Yeah, I always hated it when they did that. At least you only have the one class' homework. I can remember days when I had bundles of homework from every class," Louise gave him a sympathetic smile. He reached out and gave the other a couple pats on his shoulder. "Chin up though, you're almost through. The finish line's in sight."
Questions of his own life had him fighting off a wince. He gave a sad sort of smile. "Not as well as I'd hoped. Had to help my little brother move into a new place in Rosebud, and missed the scholarship they'd offered me at the university." Louise shrugged a bit. "I'll start up next semester, just taking some odd jobs around town in the meantime." Louise had been counting on moving into a dorm or at the least some off university housing, and not joining this semester meant he had to find somewhere else to stay in the meantime. He'd ended up on couches at more than a couple friends houses with no end to it in sight to the pattern.
"What about you though? You aiming to get into one of the universities or the community college, or are you going straight into a job when you graduate. You only got a couple months left this year and you're done, right?" Louise couldn't stand to leave the conversation on a bad note, so he turned the focus back to Lussuria, hoping they would have better news.
"And you ever get that girl to stop pestering you?" he asked with a chuckle. Last he'd seen of Lussuria, there had been a junior almost constantly glued to their side. Lussuria hadn't been as amused by it, but every time he saw them it made Louise chuckle. He hadn't seen anyone that looked like her when he'd looked around, but that didn't mean that Lussuria had managed to rid themself of her.

"It sucks that you missed the deadline for the scholarship, but family's important, right?" Lussuria tried comforting the Grimm. "At least, that is what I think."
Lussuria honestly had no idea about the concept of a family. From what they were told, they were left on the Academy's doorstep as an infant, never to know who their parents were. They were actually kind of jealous of Louise.
Mentally shaking those thoughts away, Lussuria focused on Louise. They perked when the Grimm asked about their future. "Yeah, I'm actually considering going to Leviathan for Enchantments. I've also been talking to this jewelry maker, and she's actually considering me for an apprenticeship with her while I'll be going to Leviathan!"
Their good mood about their future came crashing down once Louise had to mention that air headed, simpering little limpet that kept getting into their personal space. They visibly gave a shudder. "By the Nine, she found someone else to pester! She took one look at someone else, who even I admit looked better than me, and she gravitated over to them. I didn't have to do a thing to get her to keep away from me!"
Thinking back to what Louise had said about missing the scholarship, they asked, "Do you have a place to stay until the next semester rolls around?"
It was here that Lussuria hesitated for a moment, before they pressed on.
"I have an apartment that I've been renting with the money I've been making selling the jewelry that I make on campus. I like to go there on the weekends just to get away from...you know...the really annoying students. I've let my RA know and they're pretty cool with it as long as I'm back on campus in time for my classes. If you want, I could let you stay there and we'll split the rent 50/50..."
They brought up a hand to scratch the back of their neck, kind of nervous at what they had just said. Would Louise immediately decline their offer, or would he think about it? It would be kind of nice not to have to spend half a day just cleaning the place every single Friday once classes let out...Word Count: 372

Louise nodded. "Couldn't have left my baby bro hanging. He needed the help." He just wished that he'd had some sort of warning about the deadline of the paperwork. Then he could have at least asked one of his roommates to keep an eye on it or something. Instead the paper had sat around for several weeks, buried under the trash heap that ended up cluttering the table. Just remembering it tore another sigh out of him.
Hearing about Lussuria's plans had a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth again though and his tail softly swished behind him. Ahh, that was great.
"An apprenticeship just about lined up already? Man, how lucky! You'll have to tell me about how you got that set up next time!" Louise crowed. Much as he wanted to tease about how exactly had he gotten that, he didn't think they were close enough for that and kept his thoughts to himself.
Even now, hearing the frustration in the other nightmare's voice was enough to pull a chuckle out of him. So she'd found someone else to pine after? It wasn't surprising. If they'd been a little older, Louise wouldn't have been surprised to find them in the fan club he'd somehow acquired. But, seeing as Lussuria managed to rid themself of her with little effort, he was thinking she was just desperate.
"I'm glad you managed to peel her off. I had almost started thinking you two had wed in secret with how often I saw the two of you together." He couldn't help but tease a little bit, wondering if it would still rile him up the like it had before.
The wind was taken right out of his sails though, when Lussuria circled back around to his situation. Unwilling to admit that he was currently couch surfing, especially to an underclassman who seemed to have everything worked out for them, he slapped on a smile.
"Don't worry about me. I've set up with some friends until next semester," Louise waved off the offer. What he said was true, he was staying with friends, just not the whole truth. "Awfully kind of you to offer though. I'm sure if you ask around a bit, you could find someone else that'd be willing to take you up on it, especially if it's nearby." Louise glanced over as his ears picked up the sound of his name from someone behind the counter.
"Ah, one sec, that's me." Giving Lussuria a warm smile, he turned and threaded his way back to the counter. Both drinks were warm and smelled heavenly. Carefully balancing a cup in each hand, he made his way back over to the hybrid's table.
"Ah, do you. .mind if I sit with you?" He finally addressed the original reason he'd come over in the first place. "If you'd rather get back to your studies, I'm sure I can find somewhere else to park my rear." Not that he wanted to have to juggle his two steaming, full glasses through the crowd.

Seeing that look in the Grimm's eyes, Lussuria inwardly groaned. Why did almost everyone think that whenever they opened their mouth about their future after the Academy? Sure, she was well endowed, but Lussuria didn't care about that. They just clicked over their love of jewelry. Plus, if they ever wanted a partner that was older than them, it was going to be a male.
"I can assure you, it did not come about in THAT way," they said under their breath, confident that only Louise would be able to hear what they said.
Hearing about Louise said about them and that limpet made them shudder in horror.
"Are you crazy? She kept trying to make me into someone that I will never be."
Seeing the fake smile made Lussuria want to sigh, but they held it in. They knew that smile. They used to have that smile a lot when they were younger, before they accepted help from the Academy's counselors and therapists. Hearing the grimm's hollow reassurances made them want to frown in concern. Why were they so damn hopeful that Louise would have accepted? What were they expecting anyway? And why did it hurt to hear that?
When Louise mentioned about asking around for someone else to take up residence in their apartment, Lussuria really DID frown.
"I can't just let ANYONE into my apartment. How can I let a total stranger, someone I do not know nor trust into a place that I own and not expect them to do something, like trash the place or steal from me?"
Lussuria discreetly bit their cheek, when Louise went back to the counter to get his order, and Lussuria decided to take another sip of their drink, hoping that the chocolate in it would calm them down. It did, a little.
Seeing Louise coming back with his order and asking if he could sit with them, Lussuria closed their book and notebook, putting them back into their bag.
"You can sit with me. My brain's had enough math for the day. Not like anyone else would have wanted to sit with me anyway, so I could use the company."
Lussuria put a smile on their lips, not wanting to scare away the Grimm.Word Count: 375

Oops, looks like Lussuria had caught onto his thought anyway. The corner of his smile crooking up anyway, he nodded, silently agreeing with it. At this point any teasing would seem more pointed than playful so he let the matter drop.
Looks like Lussuria had matured a little in the time they'd been out of school. Before they would have had a few choice words to say in return to his teasing about the girl. With little thought, Louise dropped that subject as well. Now that it was over with and she'd moved on, it wouldn't do any good to bring the subject back up.
As he went to fetch his drinks, he thought about the concern Lussuria had had at his dismissal. Truly they hadn't been that close. Just passing acquaintances and occasional classmates. Yet the hybrid was behaving a bit more familiar than that. Especially with that bit about the apartment. Should he say something about it? Louise hummed a bit under his breath as he debated it. Better if he just left it alone, otherwise Lussuria might take it upon themself to try to talk him into it.
Drinks in hand he nodded a bit as the hybrid made room for him to sit. He set them in front of the opposite chair and then draped himself in front of them. Before he replied, he took a large sip of the cuppuccino and practically moaned afterwards, tail swishing behind him. It was hot, yes, but also fresh and just sweet enough that the espresso was a bare aftertaste. It was divine. Much more relaxed now, he couldn't help but circle back to the apartment.
"You were willing to let me stay, someone you scarcely know, in your apartment. Finding someone at the academy who would want to stay with you wouldn't be that difficult. Just like if you were a bit more open to it, you'd have no trouble getting someone to sit with you." Louise nodded across the cafe to a group of nightmares who quickly turned their attention back to their cups, obviously embarrassed to have been caught staring at the two of them. "Unless you have your eye on someone already?" Louise quirked an eyebrow at the younger nightmare, taking a smaller sip of his drink as he invited them to speak.
