Personality: Generally, Marshall is the type of person to get straight to the point. His motives are naturally direct and make it known whether he likes something or not. The most notable characteristic of Marshall is his relaxed demeanor whether it be during a fight or under pressure allowing him to make thoughtful decisions. This, however, does not exempt him from acting out of pure emotions when pushed to an extreme. A weird habit that Marshall has, is that when under extreme pressure, he laughs to calm himself down.
Biography: Born to the Shandian tribe of the Skypieans, Marshall had a childhood as normal as one would expect to live among the Shandians. His family consisted of only himself and his parents, although he considered the other villagers as his family as well. The village itself was quite large and Marshall found himself interacting with the other Skyfolk whenever they would pass by. Although he was surrounded by his fellow tribesman, Marshall had always felt like there was something different about him. Like there was else inside of him, an entity of unknown alignment slowly clawing its way out. At times, he would begin to wonder if there were something wrong with him. Time and time again he would consult his parents on the matter and they would simply wave it away, telling him that he was just like any other Shandian. For a while, that would suffice and he would cast the thought to the back of his mind. However, he would soon find that he was in fact not an average Skypiean.
As he grew older, Marshall strongly desired to explore the world beneath him and proclaimed that one day he would. While not in the company of his tribesman, he would spend his time with a middle-aged human woman named Akiva from East Blue who had taken residence in Skypiea. She would often tell him of her experiences and memories there as a pirate. What stood out to him was the sights that she had seen and the souvenirs that she had. Among the many things he had learned, Akiva offered Marshall the chance to learn martial arts after he expressed his desire to visit the world below. She warned him that despite all the things that she had told him, the world was still a dangerous place and that he should always be prepared to fight with his life on the line.
Training was harsh and painful, he spent two years conditioning his body and the next four learning the basics and applications. During that time, Marshall began to notice that he was stronger than other Skyfolk when Akiva pitted him against another for sparring. With each passing month, his abilities surpassed that of his race and at first, he thought it all Akiva’s doing. Posing the question towards his master, he was shocked to learn that it was actually his inherent abilities manifesting themselves. His master then proceeded to teach him what she knew about beings known as Anti-Devil’s, superhumans of various races that were a rare occurrence but very dangerous if unable to properly control their abilities. She told him how each Anti-Devil’s abilities differ when they discover their focus. In Marshall’s case, he considered that speed was his focus, judging by the explosive rate at which his speed developed. One notable trait that he had been warned of is that Anti-Devil’s are unable to consume Devil Fruits, much to his dismay, having heard so much about them. Besides that, Marshall felt at ease having learned what made him so different and caused him to feel that he was an outcast.
By the age of 20, Marshall had become proficient at managing his increased abilities and adept at martial arts. After thanking Akiva for everything, he spoke to his parents and the village about leaving to achieve his goals. Having finally convinced them to let him leave, Marshall packed a few of his belongings and set off for a life filled with possible adventure.
