 Kanda's tails wagged as she perched at the edge of her seat, looking out the window. The field trip wasn't that big a deal, nothing like the trip to the Wasteland's she'd gone on earlier in the year, but it was exciting because it was to a music store! One of the bigger ones out in the city!! That she'd never been to before! Just thinking about it had her tails wagging harder. The only downside was that because it was during her normal school day, her papa hadn't been able to come with her. He had classes of his own, not to mention the interning at the hospital. Since her most reliable translator hadn't been able to come, they school had recruited someone to fill in. He'd been pointed out when she first got on the bus, but she'd been more preoccupied with the fact that they were going to a music store to pay much attention. She just knew he was very pink.
The carriage pulled up and parked near the store and she practically vibrated as they were directed off the bus. She had a small backpack with a pencil, a box of crayons, a notebook, and a small amount of money in addition to a couple other things that Vüsala had deemed necessary for her. The small bundle of index cards with the more frequent phrases she used was in her front pocket. Signing a quick thank you to the caretaker directing them to the store, she bounded across the sidewalk and into the store. There she paused for a moment, open mouthed with awe at the numerous variety of music and instruments there were inside. How could she pick just a couple to take home?!

Yule was pretty nervous. He’d never been around so many freshlings before. Oh, sure, he had attended the academy. But never had he been chaperoning. Yule wasn’t even sure when the last time he interacted with a freshling was. Until today, that was. He was picked out because he was part of the music department. And he knew how to sign. Oh, how much he craved his earbuds and music player.
The little girl he had been told to look out for seemed to be ready to bound out of her seat. Apparently, she was also a mute. And also had an interest in music. It did… make Yule feel somewhat fond of her. Just a bit.
Following the young students off of the bus, he stretched his hands above his head before pushing them into his vest pockets, eyes examining the store. He’d been there a few times, though it was definitely too out of the way to come frequent. Still, it was a nice store that let you listen to samples of music. And quite big, with a large variety. There was even an instrumental section of the store in the back.
Moving his gaze from the store, he searched for the hallowed kumiho girl, having slight trouble with all the milling freshlings. Finally, he spotted her and quickly moved to follow, moving to the side to where she could see his hands. ”Do you like music?” he signed, head tilting slightly with the barest quirk of a smile.

Out of the corner of her eye, Kanda saw a mass of pink come around beside her. It was the one guy! Turning to face him with a bright smile that showed off the fangs peeking out of her mouth, she watched his hands then nodded vigorously in reply. "I love music!!" she added. "There are so many different kinds of instruments and types of music and I don't gotta speak to be heard!" Her hands moved quickly in her excitement and her tails wagged, even when she had a bit of trouble with the words.
"You like music too?" she asked. "What's your favorite kind? I like..." Kanda paused in her signing to look around, trying to figure out where the section with her favorites would be. "Oh! Over here!!" After giving him a follow me look, she took off for a section of the store closer to the back. There weren't too many freshlings back here, but she didn't mind.
Pointing to a couple different albums, she gave him a bright grin. "Oh! I'm Kanda!" she fingerspelled her name for him. "What's your name?" It was always exciting to meet new nightmares, especially those she could sign with.

Yule looked at the album, eyes lighting up when he recognized the title. ”This one is a good one,” he responded in kind, hands moving to pick up the album, standing next to her. So she was interested in the same type?
He tucked the album under his arm as he gestured at her to follow, going to more dubstep music before pointing out an album. ”I’ve been listening to this one a lot,” he signed with a small smile.
His fingers moved to spell his name out, a simple four letters. He gestured to the headphones. ”Do you want to listen to a sample?”

Y-U-L-E. Kanda spelled it to herself a few times, trying to make sure she'd memorized it. Should be simple enough, especially if they had him come more often for field trips and things like this. Perking up even further that he had an album to share with her, she tagged along, tails wagging.
The section that he'd taken her to wasn't one she'd visited before and she wondered what the music was like. Nodding enthusiastically, she reached for the headphones, making grabby hands for them.
"I also like to listen to what my dad calls 'spooky' music a lot," she signed real quick. "What's this like?"
