I hope this is okay! If anything needs to change, please let me know!

The youma had been dispersed just before her arrival. A Squire, by her estimation, had thrown a small fawn-like youma against a tree, breaking its back and causing its body to melt away. Kallichore had approached through the main road into the park where the youma signatures had flared to life. Somewhere near the playground was where she had estimated the youma had appeared. In the clearing, between the trees, stood a redheaded Squire who was dusting himself off after the battle.

Kallichore approached quietly, so as not to startle him.

"Excuse me? I apologize for interrupting. I felt the youma and made my way here as quickly as possible, but you've defeated them with ease, it seems. Thank you." It might be rude to suddenly ask for assistance, especially since the two did not even know one another's names. She opted for beginning with good rapport instead.

"My name is Kallichore. Are you injured? I may be of assistance there."

Hopefully the eye-like markings that glowed upon her skin wouldn't be too off-putting.

It's a good thing his niece wasn't here tonight. He had just enacted a scene out of Bambi he was sure, and she wouldn't appreciate it, youma or no. The newly minted Squire heaved a sigh, and brushed at his tassels as he felt a signature come into range. Oh? That felt like Methone's signature, one of a transcendent eternal. That wasn't unusual. She often came to check on him, for his well being or for other things.

The man turned in the direction of it as it drew closer, speaking before he got a good look at who was approaching. "Methone~" He greeted, "You're insatiable today. Earlier wasn't enough for you---" Okolnir turned on his heel, and finally got that look at the senshi, as well as heard her voice. "Ah." His smiled stayed in place as he regarded this newcomer who approached and spoke, unruffled.

How interesting! This would be the second transcendent he had seen.

"No need to thank me. Just doing my knightly duties." His smile was somewhat wry before it turned back to politely curious and good natured. "It's a pleasure, Kallichore. I'm Okolnir." He held out a hand to her. If she took it, she would swiftly find her knuckles brushed by his lips before her hand was released. "I appreciate the offer, but I'm more than fine, thank you."

It's perfect, thank you!

Kallichore wasn't prepared for that.

Eyebrows retreated into her hairline and she cleared her throat, smoothing out the layers of her tiered skirt instead of pondering who Methone was and what sorts of nefarious deeds this Squire might have planned. Shaking her head, this was all the stuff of steamy romance novels - not that she would know anything about that. The Squire's hand was grasped and professionally shaken as best as the senshi could manage.

I'm no Methone, but he or she must be quite satisfactory.

Ahem.

"Okolnir. It's a pleasure to meet you. If you don't mind," With a flick of the wrist, a pad of paper and a pen appeared in her hands. "I'm on a bit of a mission. It's come to my attention that someone named Alya has developed a way for senshi and knights to communicate across distance while in powered form. As I understand it, Knights are in possession of a ring that allows them to communicate with each other?" Brown eyes drifted to watch Okolnir's fingers. Was this ring like any other piece of jewelry? Or did it look like something specific, like senshi cellphones did?

So much to learn. "I wrote up a primer many years ago to assist new senshi, and was hoping to create something similar for Knights now that cross-communication seems possible. If you wouldn't mind, could I pick your brain? What would you tell a brand new Page, Okolnir?"

Maybe that was a bit much. Oops.

Oh. One of those types. One of Okolnir's brows retreated into his bangs in amusement as he eyed the pad of paper and pen. An interview, was it? He listened to her spiel, curious, and then couldn't help but feel that she had pegged the wrong knight to ask.

She was going to get nothing useful from him.

It was interesting though, and honestly would have been useful when he had powered up for the first time. The Squire crossed his arms until she reached the end, and his smile was still present. "What would I tell a brand new page?" He echoed. "Well, to never power up again and to turn a blind eye to all of this magical nonsense. He or she will be better off for it."

His smile was award winning as he awaited her response.

She hadn't even gotten started on any notes aside from his name and rank when his disdain for magical nonsense became quite apparent. Holding the pad of paper against her thigh, the senshi nodded once, firmly. "It hasn't treated you well, has it? How long have you been involved, if you don't mind me asking?"

One's rank didn't always have a bearing on their tenure. For all Kallichore knew, Okolnir had been doing this for years and may have lived through one too many close-calls. Still, there was something to be said for being out and about in the dead of night, defeating youma before they could devour innocent civilians. "I've seven years now under my belt, and sometimes I still wonder why I power up."

It took quite a bit of soul-searching to find a reason, small or not. The city needed them, but Kallichore understood that, for some, their own lives took precedent. And she couldn't blame them for that.

"Not as long as many, but one day was already one too many." Though his remarks were rather negative, the smile stayed on his face. He was well aware of the disdain, so he at least tried to be pleasant about it. Tried.

"A little over two years." He replied. "On and off though, mind you. Only when I was cornered." That of course changed these past few months, first when he discovered his niece was a chibi senshi, and when Nadia and Sergei's friend got corrupted. He was trying to keep an eye and ear out the best he could, even though she had been found now...he thought it still wouldn't hurt to try to keep tabs on her for the Vetrovs.

The Squire gave an small whistle of appreciation for her time, and then shook his head. "Far too long, and no sign of the end in sight." A brow quirked. "I'm afraid I'll be a waste of your time though, Kallichore. I'm a bare minimum of a knight, and it's by choice. There's others out there with more experience and worth your time, I'm sure."

She was free to stick around and keep trying though. He wasn't trying to dismiss her. He was just being upfront with her.

"I'm glad you have that choice. I think that's more important than many realize."

Not everyone was interested in, or cut out for, war. Okolnir was right on the oney - there was no end in sight, and Kallichore wondered if an end would ever come, or if the scales would simply tip from one direction to the other. That is the message the cosmos had presented to her when the markings appeared on her skin. If she was to fight forever, then so be it.

But people like Okolnir shouldn't have to.

"It's not a waste. I appreciate your position. We're still on the same side, aren't we? Not everyone should have to have seven years under their belt, especially if they have lives to live. And you have a life to live. Some of us have seen too much, and I hope you haven't gotten to that point yet, Okolnir." The pen and paper were dismissed, as the information Okolnir possessed wasn't the kind that needed logical cataloging.

"If you don't mind me asking, who are some of your allies? What have you seen, thus far?"

It wasn't that great of a choice. He would have rather chosen to stay out of the war period, but his niece had put an end to that. Just like a good teenager.

"I have seen too much." He replied, "And it didn't come from seven years of experience. It came in the form of a friend losing her best friend to corruption." And the fall out from that. The youma and agents and the missing people were one thing, but this hitting him so close to home, where he could see one of the heaviest consequences of being in this war? It was too much, but alas, he just had to solider on.

To make sure it didn't happen to Mimosa.

He found Kallichore rather pleasant to talk to, which sort of surprised him. It wasn't often he could find a stranger he didn't mind conversing with, especially on one of his most hated topics. "Allies are few, but they come in the form of a transcendent eternal like yourself, a squire like myself, and one chibi senshi. As for what I've seen, it's been the run of the mill in this magical nonsense. Youma, agents, energy draining, starseed extractions."

Sorry about the wait! I've been distracted. >_>

Kallichore lowered her head in respect for those Okolnir had lost, even if they were indirect. "Perhaps it's not as meaningful, given that the lost friend may not remember everything and return to being who they were, but there have been people - senshi and knights - who have returned from darkness. I don't know of many personally, but it is a possibility, and I would more than willing to assist in what way I can, should it come to that."

Okolnir hadn't had an easy time. Who did? Who asked for this?

Though destiny had chosen them, not all wished to walk this path.

She nodded in confirmation. "Yes, I've about the same, give or take. From what I can tell, the pendulum keeps swinging back and forth ceaselessly. Perhaps we have not yet found what would keep things in our favor, but... I will keep working so that people like you and your friends, Okolnir, can rest." Kallichore wasn't interested in tooting her own horn, as it were. Moreover, it was a sense that this was her one and only purpose. Others had fulfilling lives to lead, and they should be allowed to do just that.

"From what I understand, we can now register each other on our communication devices... Would you mind?"

Okolnir didn't reply, and left it as is. He had his own personal feelings on the topic. Nadia, Methone, was trying so hard to work towards bringing her friend back, but he still believed it just wasn't possible. Not with how much Olga had lost. He still believed Nadia was just trying to salvage the wreck of her friend, and what was the good in that? Though he knew if, heavens forbid, that ever happened to Noah, he would be moving heaven and earth to do the same but...

That girl he loved would never be the same person again. The loss was already dished out.

"I have to say I'm surprised with how long you've been in it, Kallichore, that you don't have more to call on." A brow rose. "Now don't get all martyr on me, here. It's admirable you want to give people the choice, but it's not your obligation to uphold it. War's shitty like that...it can rob you of a choice, no matter what."

Both brows briefly rose into his bangs now before he smiled. "Ah...I don't have my ring yet, so I'm afraid I've got no means of communicating."
