General Tourmaline did not spend much time in the office, much preferring experiences that took her out into the field. In the field she could hunt. In the field she could observe. In the field she could explore the freedoms of her rank.

In the office she felt trapped unless it was on her own terms. As such, she did not keep hours, as others might have. There was no 'set time' that found her stationary and more often than not she was easier to reach via communication device-- even more so now that the communication devices were pens that morphed into tablets and no longer impractical crystal devices.

When she was in the office it was generally for research purposes; reading up on reports and investigating what she could while studying the files made available to Generals to maximize their efficiency. She filed each of the reports submitted to her by the members of her team, uploading the necessary ones to the Negaverse database, passing others on to her own private storage.

She took a sip from the tea cup sitting on her desk while perusing files on her tablet. Her boots were kicked up on her desk, reclining back in her chair. She wasn't expecting company, but her door was left ajar just in case. It was unlikely that any of her brood would find their way down to the Underground unsummoned, but in the event anyone did come in search of her she wanted to appear open and available.

Under any other conditions, Haumea would have simply done as Ate had that fateful day and simply commandeered one of the easily cowed officers to be his escort into the Rift. Certainly no one had looked askance at the time. But... no. This was just a little jaunt. Haumea wanted someone with some gumption, someone who could not only keep the corrupted senshi from becoming youma kibble, but who would be able to provide intelligent assistance.

Which was what had led him into the Underground. Polite inquiry and simply observing had given him the distinct impression that of the Generals currently serving, Tourmaline was the one most sympathetic to corrupted senshi. Certainly, she didn't possess the idiotic biases that plagued so many of the others. As such, it was logical to assume that any officers under her would also be mostly free of prejudice as well.

A quick glance at his tablet (handy little bit of tech, that) showed that he was close. And the ajar door practically screamed a welcome of sorts. Tattooed face beaming, the tall corrupt hurried to the door and gave a cursory knock, waiting to be invited in.

"Your pardon for intruding, General," he said smoothly, tone oozing with just the right amount of respect for her station. "But I wonder if I might be able to have a moment of your time?"

Tourmaline glanced up from her tablet, closing out the files and minimizing it back down to pen form. She swung her boots down off of her desk as she assessed the senshi before her. No wings, large bow-- second stage, on par with a Captain. Deeply tanned, magenta hair washed out to a neon pink. If anything, she approved of his color scheme; how could one not when his trim favored her own. He was lean, but tall. He looked like a fighter and she could appreciate that as well.

"The door was ajar, was it not? Practically begging for an intrusion, don't you think?" Her smile was warm, green eyes bright as she scooted her chair in closer to her desk, making a gesture for the senshi to take a seat across from her should he wish to do so. "You may have more than a moment of your time if you will provide me with your name, Sailor....?"

Returning the General's smile, Haumea slipped into the office and took the offered seat, careful to maintain some degree of formality.

"Haumea, General. Corrupt senshi of plumeria," he murmured as he settled into the seat. How best to frame his request? He couldn't demand, but he needed her assistance. He needed any help she could provide. "And while the door was open, it would have been poor manners on my part to assume."

He went silent once more, clearly thinking hard, little ripples of emotion flickering across his tattooed face. FInally, he sighed and decided to simply jump in.

"If I may be blunt, General? You have a reputation for treating my kind fairly. I am hoping you can direct me to one of your under officers who will have the same sort of care. I need to escort deep into the Rift. I also need someone capable of observation and deduction..."

How much to tell her? Especially when not even Alkaid had been able to solve this particular puzzle.

Sighing heavily, the tall senshi suddenly looked weary.

"Ascendant General Alkaid found something, a puzzle of sorts and I must solve it," he said in a soft voice.

Tourmaline listened as he spoke, although her mind was not entirely on the conversation. It was proper and niceness and formality and while that was all good and fine when called for, Tourmaline was not other Generals. She did not demand respect immediately from others based solely on her rank, preferring to command it instead by proving herself in the moment.

When the name 'Alkaid' fell from his mouth he had her attention entirely. A considerable amount of time had passed since she'd first met the hauntingly beautiful cracked porcelain doll of a senshi-- when the Negaverse had been invaded by the senshi? Was it then? Or was it after, when they had all taken up the quest to put Laurelite on the throne as Queen? She should remember. The woman had exuded power and her General seemed to have trusted her entirely. Enough that he had asked her to keep us safe...

She would chase that rabbit further down the hole into memory another time, when she was on her own and not under the gaze of a senshi in need. "Tourmaline. If we are being blunt with one another, please call me Tourmaline-- General is so stuffy, don't you think?"

The young woman reached up to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear before shifting forward to lean crossed arms on her desk. "I've a reputation for treating your kind fairly? Would that be senshi who serve the Negaverse? Or agents whose colors favor my own?" That lightly teasing smile was still there as she watched him for a moment before leaning back in her chair again. "The Rift is a dangerous place... And you seek to go there to solve a puzzle?"

Blinking slightly, Haumea studied Tourmaline closely, eyes narrowing before he broke into a barking chuckle and inclined his head gracefully in her direction.

"As you wish. I simply wished to remain respectful," Haumea said easily as he leaned back before crossing his legs and steepling his fingers. Then, he laughed again. He honestly hadn't been paying attention to the colors that adorned this General. "In fairness, I suppose it could be both. But more the former, I think. You're clever and observant, Tourmaline. Surely you must have noticed that many of your fellow officers hold senshi like myself in contempt. In spite of my devotion to the Dark Kingdom and my desire to do everything in my power to please Metallia. It is... frustrating to say the least."

Tangerine eyes became distant for a moment as Haumea recalled his last foray into the Rift. He'd been able to feel the madness permeating the place. And the desire of those that made that madness their home to basically eat him alive. The officers of the Dark Kingdom had nothing on the youma within the Rift when it came to senshi hatred.

"It may be dangerous, but I believe it's vital to venture in. Alkaid found a tower, you see. If I'm any kind of judge of things, it dates back to the time of the Earth prince. It's broken, but if it can be repaired... Well, that brings us back to my request for assistance. If I'm to assess the place properly, I need an escort. Whether or not the place can be repaired is my puzzle, you see."

"It is foolish of them to do so. The only senshi who should be held in contempt are those who stand against our cause." The word 'our' was said with purpose, although it might have been difficult to tell whether or not Tourmaline spoke of the Negaverse as a whole or of her own team and their goals. Many of their ideals aligned, as they should, but the General liked to believe she had a decent amount of forward thinking.

"As we are being honest with one another, Haumea, I will let you know that I have little fondness for the Rift. It is a wasteland filled with misery and monsters that are capable of many wonderful and vile things-- it takes a unique kind of officer to be comfortable and confident in the Rift." Not to say that she could not muster that kind of confidence; that she could not uphold the strength needed to escort those that she cared for through the madness.

Tourmaline reigned herself in and redirected her train of thought from chaos to something more organized. "I would not put you and yours at risk on your quest for my insecurities. False bravado has lead to too much trouble amongst my kind." A wry grin touched her lips, the expression not making it up to her eyes. "I can make recommendations, however. Captains Moonstone and Uvarovite are both formidable agents who have spent a considerable amount of time exploring the Rift with their youma companions. I would trust either one of them with my life and can easily arrange for meetings between you and either one of them."

The General leaned back in her chair, resting comfortably against the arm of it for the time being. "That is not to say that I will not lend you what aide I can as well, only that you should have access to the proper tools for a venture such as yours."

Haumea's heavily tattooed face lit up at Tourmaline's words, almost shimmering with fanatical zeal. Finally, an officer who understood and was willing to help him! One that didn't have to be threatened or cajoled! Truly, Metallia must've been smiling upon him when he decided to ask Tourmaline for assistance first. Imagine having command of two officers who did not fear the Rift or the things living within.

A brief, manic grin flickered across the corrupted senshi's face before it settled back into an expression of serenity.

"I assure you, Tourmaline," he began smoothly, though his voice cracked here and there with emotion, "I appreciate your honesty and willingness to assist. I'm more than happy to meet either of your people. Though, if either of them possesses a more scholarly bent, it would be most helpful."

A few quick taps at his tablet and Haumea gave each officer a cursory examination. Yes, either would do nicely for his purposes, though it seemed at first glance that Uvarovite might fit his needs a little better.

"Hrmm, perhaps Uvarovite? And if you could arrange a meeting as soon as possible, I would be most grateful."

Another soft, barking chuckle tore itself from his throat. The proper tools, indeed. Oh, he liked this General's thinking.

Had she known Haumea's line of thought she might have made note that she was in command of neither Moonstone nor Uvarovite. In awe of the Haida Captain, certainly, but not in command and Uvarovite, well.... The nature of their relationship was far more complex than that. She had never been his commanding officer. Her interest in him on other levels would have made it a conflic to do so and thus she had sent him to another; one she had trusted to bring him to the Negaverse gently.

She would correct the Corrupt if he questioned it, or he would see the information himself as he perused the information accessible through the files kept on each officer and their current assignments.

"I would be happy to arrange for a meeting between you and Captain Uvarovite. We'll keep lines of communication open in the meantime, and should you require anything else... Do feel free to let me know?" Tourmaline straightened herself out, easing away from the comfortable slouch in her chair in order to rise to her feet so that she could see him out. "There isn't much that I wouldn't do to aide a comrade in search of information."

Following Tourmaline's lead, Haumea rose to his feet. Giving the General a bow, he smiled and nodded.

"But of course," he replied smoothly. "I look forward to meeting Captain Uvarovite. My thanks for your time and assistance General Tourmaline."

Moving to the door, Haumea thanked Metallia silently for the good luck in settling on this General to request help form. Now, if this Uvarovite was as good as Tourmaline implied...

The corrupt cut the thought off, unwilling to get too far ahead of himself. Instead, he paused a moment to bid the General goodbye.

"Again, my thanks. I look forward to speaking with you again."

Then, rather than force her to come up with small talk, Haumea exited the office, a renewed purpose in his steps as he mentally calculated the next steps.
