The warmer the weather got, the harder it was for Baikal to justify powering up, not considering the fur trimmed coat and scarf that came standard for him. The latter he'd already pulled free, and it was laying in a semi-neat heap on the ledge beside his hip, gloves laying beside it. He was tempting to shed the thick bulk of his jacket as well, but hadn't made any moves to do it just yet. Temporarily content with the cool breeze he'd found way up on the twentieth floor of some office building at the heart of the city. It'd been quite the climb, and to be honest he wasn't entirely sure there was a quick way down if he did happen to sense something out there that required his immediate attention, but the view from here--sky a cool wash of darkness melting into dark blue and a hint of purple still at the horizon--was breathtaking. He'd been sitting there for a while, half aware of the few flicking 'glimpses' of auras that passed through on the edges of her senses, but for the most part the city seemed unusually, and blessedly, quiet.

Considering Castor's weather, Anakeion would never be happy with her powered uniform, and she'd just taken that as an inevitable fact at some point in the not-so-distant past. Sure, it was all insulated or whatever, but she still had way too much skin exposed in the cold - and in the summer here, well. There were a lot of words, some more colorful than others, she might have used to describe her various gripes -- long sleeves and bracers? Metal on skin? The sweat alone was bad enough. They were all relatively miniscule gripes, in the end, so she powered up and did her routines anyways. There were bigger things to complain about. Like ******** youma, whatever the hell that circus had even been, and the Negaverse continuing to be a plague on the land like a bunch of locusts. Or whatever. Locusts sounded appropriate for the season. What also sounded appropriate for the season, as far as Anakeion was concerned, was pestering other Knights who crossed her path -- like the weak aura at the roof above her. Way, way above her - honestly, she could have been imagining that flicker of blue and black in her sights, but you needed to try harder than that to avoid pestering. She'd climbed higher buildings in uniform (on a dare, mostly) -- and if mystery-Page didn't want to talk, they had more than enough warning, it wasn't as if climbing was instant. "Hey, Blue! Don't normally see Pages up this high - kind of a climb, ain't it?" Anakeion dusted herself off, pulling at the lacing on her bracers as she sat, offering an inquisitive look to Baikal as if to say 'not sorry for stealing your hideaway'.

He definitely felt her coming—a stronger aura than himself, bright and shining in the early evening air. Not a rapid ascent, but a steady climb that gave him time to the opportunity to watch her as she made her way up to him. All blues, whites, and silvers, but the latter had a shine to it that made him think metal, and placement and shape suggested armor. That wasnt something here saw in other Mercury knights, so she had to be something else. A different planetary alignment. The page was grinning as she pulled herself up to take a seat beside him and he shrugged in answer to her question. "You're not wrong, but the breeze is great up here, and the views pretty impressive." Which wasn't really a huge thing for him, but it was a huge difference in perspective than he'd ever gotten as a mere civilian. Pale eyes flicked over the Romanesque style of her attire before riding up to linger on the tanned features of her face. "Not Mercury, not Polaris, and not the right color for Mars." The grin brightened a touch. "So what an I looking at, other than a pretty face?" It was the sort of shameless compliment delivered by this unconcerned with being s**t down. Easy and unbithered. "And what brings you up here?" Because it was quite the climb for her as well.

Anakeion's grin was lazy, bright-edged in a self-satisfied sort of way as she lounged, sure enough of herself to have zero worries here. "Breeze's better when it ain't ninety degrees out, but hey, not like I can turn off the sun. Anakeion of Castor. n' you? Not, like, the Mercury part," and she vaguely gestured at his coat, "that part I got." She finished unlacing her bracers and set them aside with the clatter of metal, barely looking at where she put them; it wasn't of importance anyways. "What brings me up here, Mister Mercury, is 'cause I don't spot a lotta pages skygazing on buildings this high. Pffft. Buncha wimps; the climb just takes time, not like it's that hard. Nice day out, so hell, why not sit somewhere you're less likely t'get mobbed by murderers?"

He couldn't argue that, especially not with the bead of sweat he felt trickling along the side of his face. "It'll be nicer once the sun's down completely." It was almost there, just a bright blip through the skyline of the city. The sky directly above them was a darker blue that melted into a deep purple. A few more minutes if he had to guess. "And I'm Baikal." He'd have offered a hand but she was busy with her bracers so he let pale eyes wander a bit. She had implied she was up there because of him, after all. Curiosity totally counted. "It wasn't too bad, not with that boost we get when we power up. I'd bet most people were unnerved by being this high up, but it doesn't bother me." He flashed her a grin, laying his palms on the concrete behind him and leaning back against them. Then he was smirking, pleased, but in a careless sort of way. "So you came all the way up here just to see what I was doing?"

"What can I say?" Anakeion grinned back. "I'm a sucker for a pretty face. Or the promise of one." She blew a raspberry, half-trapped in the fact her logic didn't quite work out but she'd decided to go along with it anyways, and let the last final rays of the sun warm her as she sat. "Nah, though, I don't see that many people just hangin' out up this high. Couldn't exactly help the curiosity. But something nice to look at's always a bonus!"

That left him smirking back at her smugly before he shook his head, chuckling. "You flirt with all the pages you cross paths with, or am I a special case? Cause you'll turn a guys head with talk like that." It was playful, self deprecating and almost humble if not for the shadow of confidence in the set of his smile. She was a pretty thing. It was something he'd have noticed regardless, but her tone sort of set the standard for the impending conversation. Icy eyes flicked down to the feet before raking up again, appreciative.

"Only the nice-looking ones," she scoffed, tossing her hair a little too dramatically to be all completely authentic. Anakeion aimed to be running at about ten percent more overblown than was reasonable at all times, no matter how often it made someone get the wrong idea, and she had her own reputation to keep up to - even if only in her own head. There were things it was easier for her to believe in, if she wanted to keep mostly sane and mostly reasonable, if she wanted to try and keep up the half-pretense of being an average girl. "But, like, hey -- Destiny City's got so many pretty people it makes a girl feel a little outclassed, you get me?"

He grinned, because who wouldn't appreciate a nice compliment from a person with no emotional obligation to save your feelings. She didn't know him, so what he thought of her as a person wouldn't weigh heavily against what she chose to say. Nor did her opinion weigh heavily on what he chose to say. "I don't think you need to worry about being outclassed. Pretty and fearless, I'm sure you do just fine."

" Flatterer," she accused, but her laugh was clear and bright. This was... nice. Most of the time Anakeion spent near other Knights ended up being more practical than anything, impromptu team-ups to deal with a particularly strong youma or to scare off an officer who wasn't getting the hint; those situations ended with pleasantries exchanged, all rote and routine, but there was always the underlying stress that'd brought them together coloring the entire thing. This, though -- it was a nice day, and she hadn't had to fight for her life in at least 36 hours, and Baikal was nice enough. Who knew? Knighthood didn't have to be 24/7 madness, apparently, even though the last few months had felt like it. Maybe she was just getting paranoid, always afraid of something around the corner, some impending doom -- no time to think about that right now. They were just chatting. That was fine. That was enough. Beejoux TWO AND A HALF MONTHS LATER -- i'm good to fin on this post for crown token purposes unless you'd like to coda it!
